This apartment, 100m2, on 10th floor of a 90's building, is overlooking a beautiful garden from the former French Concession, located on hengshan road, across the metro station L1, shops and most popular restaurants and bars.

The interior is beautifully designed, and fully renovated with wooden floor, large windows over Shanghai skyline.

With a brand new Central heating system with 4 heaters (living room, 2 bedrooms and bathroom) and brand new air conditioning (living room, bedroom) you will be confortable all year long, it is perfect for a family of 4 people or friends get away weekend, the apartment has everything you need, including hi-speed internet, TV, DVD player and lost of DVD, washing machine and dryer, kitchen appliances, utensils and toiletries.

Three days in Shanghai 2017

Laurent was the perfect host. We communicated by email before the trip and he promptly replied to all my questions. He was wonderful about accomodating an early check-in as we arrived in Shanghai earlier than expected. He also remembered that we needed extra bedding for the pull out sofa and had that prepared beforehand.

His apartment was in the perfect location. Literally steps from Hengshan Road Station on Line 1, we traveled by subway to and from the Bund, Tian Zi Fang, and Xintiandi. We never took the taxi once and rode right to the apartment from Pudong International Airport and back via the Maglev. The neighborhood is lovely, quaint and quiet and is nearby to excellent restaurants and cafes as well as a Lawsons and a small grocery store across the street (that closes a little early but the Lawsons stays open late). We didn't really need anything though because Laurent provided us with complimentary refreshments, bottles of water, a larger bottle of water for tea and coffee, and snacks (which we are sad to say we had to leave behind untouched because of all the amazing meals we had during our stay). He also had fresh cut flowers on the table when we arrived.

The apartment was clean, very well maintained and looks exactly like the pictures. The beds were extremely comfortable, the heater kept us warm, there were bathroom amenities, towels, hot water with excellent water pressure, as well as wifi and plenty of TV channels (Chinese and Foreign including HBO). It was perfect for our group of four women but it could easily accomodate five or up to six, as described.

I will definitely be coming back and staying here again. I cannot recommend this wonderful apartment and its warm and inviting host Laurent enough. Thank you for a memorable trip. Cheers!

Lovely apartment in excellent location

We wanted to immerse ourselves in the former French Concession area (FCC) and this apartment was perfect. It was better than described, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was close to the metro which is essential to get around. It is a secure building with 2 elevators.

Each window offers a nice view.

The owner was most helpful and he provided tips for restaurants etc. Fresh oriental lilies greeted our arrival which was a nice touch. He'd also provided some basic snacks and drinks such as orange juice and beer. A wine fridge was stocked with some quality wines and champagne which was operated on an honour system.

The area has abundant plane trees which is a feature of the area and it has some wonderful restaurants etc. We particularly liked the Azuli restaurant in the Ferguson Lane area. We had 11 days there and we really needed a lot longer as there is so much to see.

The owner also arranged an English speaking driver for our airport transfers and these arrangements were flawless.

The only thing we disliked is that the Chinese concierges smoke like chimneys so you have to walk through that to get to and from the apartment but that is China and not something the owner can control.

We have no hesitation in recommending Gourmandise to travellers looking for comfort, spaciousness and convenience, in a lovely, historical area.
