Relaxing and More
The Snowdrop House has beautiful style and grace.
The layout of the house is very comfortable for two couples or a family or a romantic getaway.
The furnishings and color choices are fun and restful at the same time.
The porch, yard and docks offer a private area as well as a view into the river and the activity on the water.
We hope to return.
We just returned from a 7 days stay at this gorgeous property. My husband and I absolutely loved it!
The house is spaceous and has all you can ask for. The garden and two piers were our highlights. Sitting outside for coffee or a glass of wine was so relaxing. During the week it was quite on the river and over the weekend we enjoyed all the boats passing by.
While we did not experience one single problem a the house, when contacting Ingrid and Jerry with questions they were immediately available and answered supportingly. They really did everything they could to make us happy. Even without any hesitation allowed a late check-out so we did not have to sit around the airport, waiting for our evening flight back home to Switzerland.
If coming back to McHenry area, we’d definitely stay at the Snowdrop again.
We had 6 wonderful relaxing days at the Snowdrop. The location is perfect! Everything we needed was available to us at Ingrid and Jerry's home and if we would have needed something, they were just a text or call away. Peaceful mornings and evenings were spent on the deck and we ventured out during the day. It all went too soon.
A beautiful property!
Very much enjoyed the month on the river (no boat traffic after the heavy flooding, so the fishing from the pier was great). Most everything worked well and the house was fairly carefree, except for the shower which tended to flood. A longer shower curtain might be helpful with that. I left some books from my daughter to add to your shelves for future guests, as there really wasn't any reading material, games, or cards. Couldn't lock the sliding door to the deck, and as an exterior door, that was a worry. But other than these suggestions, it was a pleasurable experience, very restful and relaxing.
The Snowdrop is a one of a kind almost historic resort home like none other on the Fox River. We maintain the resort villa to the highest standard and expect guests to inform us immediately when an unpredictable mechanical malfunction shows up. Finding out in a review that a guest put our property at risk for break-in and interior water back-up is a situation we hope none of our future guests will repeat. All is well now and we look forward to welcoming responsible vacation seakers to our resort home in Chicago's most popular water sport resort area.
Wonderful house on the river!
The house is very clean, updated, and spacious. The view of the river is beautiful, and the backyard and docks are great. We enjoyed the nearby restaurants--Vickie's Place, The Foxhole, and Little Chef.
Beautiful property. Accomodating host. Most enjoyable experience.
It was nice to hear Carolyn that the Snowdrop House provided many opportunities for sightseeing and trips into Wisconsin.
In McHenry proper, examples of places to visit are Stade's Farm and Market, Moraine Hills State Park, McHenry Outdoor Theater, Snuggery McHenry, Chain O' Lakes Brewing Company , Don Elder Fine Art Studio, Twisted Moose, and Volo Auto Museum. Examples of neighboring towns and places to visit there are: Woodstock--Woodstock Square, Woodstock Opera House; Crystal Lake--Three Oaks Recreation Area, Xtreme Wheel Inline Roller Skating Rink; Union-- Illinois Railway Museum. A little further but still nearby is Chicago and the city of Milwaukee as well as Lake Geneva, WI. Chicago is an easy and very convenient train ride away. Trains leave from McHenry as well as nearby Crystal Lake. Lake Geneva with its boat rides on the lake and popular lake side restaurants are a close by attraction.
