The Abbe Cabin features old Tahoe charm in three stylish separate units––Lakeside, Lookout and Roadhouse. Our lakefront compound gives privacy for families or groups of friends, and everyone comes together for a Lakeside meal, drinks on the big new deck, or games by fireside.
Plowed, level driveway to a 2-car garage gives easy winter access from the main road around the lake; large sloping lot insures quiet in the units.
See our website for additional details (click link below), or for off-season inquiries for rental of just one or two of the three cabins.

We are four sisters who love family time at the cabin. Our own children have grown up here, and the grandkids are now loving it.
Jessica purchased this cabin in 1974
Our great-grandparents camped near Tahoe City in the early 1900s. Our grandparents continued the tradition, camping at Bliss State Park each summer. Our parents purchased this lakeside retreat in 1974, continuing a happy tradition of summer on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Comfortable, charming and convenient, with beautiful views of crystal-blue water and snow-kissed mountains. The private rocky beach and lake shore provide a welcome retreat from civilization. A lakeside public path, which meanders north along the shore, delivers you to Carnelian Bay and its 3 restaurants, store, post office, dog-friendly beaches and public pier.
Thanks for the helpful review Diana! We have since had a new underground TV cable installed, which took care of the reception problem, and added a new DVD player and HD cable upgrade. We also improved on storage options for the living areas, and arranged the dining room to more easily accommodate a bigger group (we seated 12 comfortably at the table for Thanksgiving!), and for better views of the lake. We look forward to seeing you up here again soon!

We had an absolutely lovely weekend at the Abbe Cabin compound! There was plenty of room for our multigenerational group to spread out and relax while enjoying the gorgeous lake views and beautiful property. Absolutely everything we needed was provided and we were greeted with a basket of delicious organic goodies from the local market when we arrived. The location is fantastic and we took advantage of the lakeside path to walk to Gar Woods and the beaches beyond. Our boys and dogs had a great time playing on the beach in front of the cabin and there was some heated competition for champion stone-skipper. The Abbe family were wonderful to work with and you can tell that they really care about making the property a home away from home for their guests. We hope to return!
This home has all the amenities that are needed and then some. I cooked most of our meals while staying at the vacation rental and was pleasantly surprised at the stainless steel stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. The local supermarket was very close which helped us a lot with last minute items. The view is just spectacular!! The steady rain kept me from being on the beach, so I just opened the back door and sipped my hot coffee from the comfort of the warm kitchen to listen to the waves. I hope to return to this home on a more regular basis. Thank you for sharing your home with us!!:)
The property is a narrow slice of Tahoe goodness. The three houses sit in a row, each looking over the next at the lake, from the elevated highway down to the beach. The homes are very clean and convenient, with vintage Tahoe decor and simple but comfortable furnishings. Though the neighbors are much larger ($$$) on either side, they are set back farther so that when you're in the Lakeside house looking out or enjoying the deck, it feels uncrowded and the view unhindered. Below the deck is a very nice fire pit (a gathering spot most houses don't have), then the nicely maintained trail running to Garwood's Pier, and then the actual beachfront.
Oh, the beachfront! It may be a disappointment to some that the neighbor's pier and boathouse (not admittance allowed) is so near and large, but it created a perfectly safe and serene cove for all of the kids in our family to play. They dove for crawfish, snorkeled and floated and the nearby boathouse and surrounding docks break up the wakes and waves creating a perfectly peaceful shorefront. As you can see from the pictures, the view is breathtaking - I just didn't know that the pier in the picture was not ours to use.
All that to say, most vacation homes that can accommodate a group of our size in this price range are a drive away from the beach in which case you have to pack up for the day, the meals and use crowded public beaches. When you stay at Abby Cabin, you get your own slice of heaven! In fact, we're going to make it a summer tradition!
"We just arrived home from our wonderful family reunion at the Abbe Cabins. Our son appreciated the privacy after a year of living in the Marine Corps barracks in Helmand province, Afghanistan! The setting was perfect!, the weather was beautiful, and everyone had a great time. The quiet lakefront location and comfortable cabins created the perfect get-away for our family.
Thanks for the special touch of the basket of goodies and for being gracious hosts.
Our stay at the Abbe cabin was really great. The book of instructions provided at the cabin was extremely helpful from how to use the wifi to the best restaurants in the area. The cabin location was very convenient to all the ski areas and a great breakfast place (the Post Office) right up the road. The multiple cabins allowed for the family to be together but at the same time have privacy when desired. The accommodations were very clean and the thermostat worked just great on some very cold nights. I highly recommend this rental for a great family vacation!
We had a very relaxing time at the Abbey cabin. The location right on the water is the best part about this cabin. We stayed in the Lake cabin and 2 friends stayed in the Tower.
The Lake cabin contains the main part of the house with a good working kitchen, well fitted with a good stove, dishwasher, etc. The table sits 6 comfortably. Any more than 8 would surely challenge the space. The cabin was very clean and neat.
The family room area has a couple of banquettes and a few chairs for seating. There is a nice flat screen TV, but the cable service is sketchy at best. Most channels are so fuzzy they are barely watchable. Even the basic networks do not come in reliably or clearly.
Both the Lake & Tower offered comfortable but very tight sleeping quarters.
The Lake cabin has a queen mattress & box base on the floor which is tucked under the eaves of a very slanted peaked roof. The height on each full length side of the bed is roughly 4 ft. There is no closet space or a place to hang anything except for 2 wall hooks. The "closet" is a small nook under the eaves completely filled with extra bedding. There is a small bath with toilet & sink also tucked under eaves.....mirror & light outside the door, but handy. There is a full bath with tub & shower on the main floor.
The Tower is 3 levels with the bath and laundry on the main floor. It has a bunk room on the middle level and a queen bed in the upper level. While the bunk room offers sufficient floor space, the queen room just has space for the bed and bedside tables. There is no floor space for luggage and 2 people cannot walk in there at the same time.
The owners were very helpful and responsive to a few problems which arose over the weekend.
We would recommend the Lake & Tower for up to 8 people.
There is a nice path to walk about 200 yards to Garwoods. The cabin looks out to the lake though the view is somewhat obscured by the number of trees between the house & the Lake.
Lovely walk along the shoreline path, 1/4 mile to the public pier and beach at Gar Woods.
