Located at the end of a cul de sac - 100 yards to the historic Rosario Resort Mansion. This is one of the best locations on Orcas Island! Robert Moran has his pick and this was his choice - due to it's warm south west exposure, south facing beach and backed by 5200 acre Moran State Park. It takes less than 5 minutes to walk to the Resort to enjoy dining or the spa, go the beach, or watch the boats in the harbor. Go whale watching and kayaking or sailing - and never have to get in your car!
Fly from Lake Union right to Rosario and walk to our Seaside Cottage! Less than a mile to Moran State park with over 50 miles of hiking trails, many pristine freshwater lakes, great fishing and breathtaking views around every corner! Come for a weekend.. and you will never want to leave! Reservations can be made for the Ferry! Check the Wa. State Ferry site for more info.
If you have children they will enjoy the swing and playhouse, and you will enjoy the feeling of safety being off the main road. We sometimes allow one dog (additional pet fee), so tell us about your pal. There is a fenced area for for your dog, if you need to leave his outside while you are elsewhere. We ask that you pick up after your dog, and keep him off the furniture.
Wifi but no TV, some games, books, rocking horse and play set. This home is close to the beach but it not waterfront! Just short walk down past the Marina to the beach. If you want to watch sports, we suggest the Lounge/Bar at Rosario - big screen viewing!
We moved from the east coast ( Princeton, NJ) in 1989 - after falling in love with Orcas. Our two youngest girls moved with us, while the older two were away in college back east. We've done lots of things since we moved here. I painted in watercolors and taught art classes, taught sailing, then led kayaking trips for many years... right out of Rosario! While building our first home here, I became a real estate broker.. now with 20 years of experience selling on Orcas, I can say I am an expert in that area. In 2000 we moved to Deer Harbor and built a cottage, a barn and then our main home. The horses soon followed, we have 4 mustangs that we adopted from the wild. I teach horsemanship and provide therapy with my horses on the farm. My husband Ken built homes and then joined me in selling real estate, and grows much of our food on our organic farm. We always seem to have lots of projects going on! Three of our children have lived on Orcas for most of their adult lives and we have 5 grandchildren. We are the lucky ones to have found such a fabulous place to live and have family, enjoy nature and a very special community.
Kate Wood purchased this house in 2001
We think the location is worth a million bucks. Why? Mostly because it's so private and quiet and yet so close to the Resort, the sandy beach, water activities and beautiful Moran State Park.. You can fly right from Lake Union in Seattle to your doorstep! You can go to the spa, or have a great meal, watch ball games at the bar, or hike hundreds of miles in the 5,200 Acre Moran State Park.. and walk home.. Tucked away and facing southwest.. warm, cozy and oh so inviting!
This cottage has lots of natural wood interior. high ceilings, big windows and lots of natural light. It is so close to the water, you can hear it lapping, see sailboats and watch the eagles soar overhead. Convenient to so much: ten minutes to town, 5 minute walk to Rosario and the beach, 3 minute drive to swim in the lagoon, the lake and miles of trails to hike in the adjacent park. It's paradise!
We had a wonderful time staying at Seaside Cottage.
The cottage was clean, warm and welcoming. Our daughter loved the small play structure next to the house!
The location of the cottage is perfect as well, with a very short walk to the Rosario Spa Resort and its restaurants.
Also a quick drive (or walk) to Moran State park.
Can't wait to return!
This property is a great option immediately near the Rosario. The beach was wide open, the kids had a lot of fun exploring and the Rosario property itself is beautiful. This was perfect for us because we had a full kitchen so we could be thoughtful about when we ate at home and when we went to the different restaurants.
Only downer, if you would call it that, zero cell service in the area. Plenty of internet, etc., but don't plan on texting someone with where to meet for lunch.
Not well taken care of, no attention to detail. The owner has no concept of hospitality or customer service. Don't expect instructions of any kind or emails if you book with this property and if you complain, expect to be called a liar and told that it's you own fault that you didn't look on her personal website for instructions. Don't let your children play on the play structure without an updated tetanus shot. No TV, dirty dishes, moldy hummingbird feeders, no window covering in the master bedroom, but the owner will tell you that you get what you pay for. I would never rent from this owner again and we couldn't wait to go home.
Less than one mile to Moran State Park where over 5,000 acres of woods, mountain lakes, meadows, play grounds are yours to be enjoyed. Salt water is a few minute stroll to the beach, or to go kayaking, or whale watching, beach combing, swimming or sailing.
The Resort is charming - Built by the famous ship builder Robert Moran for his family it offers old fashioned charm, beautiful grounds and the best location on Orcas. Sunny and warm! Serving wonderful seafood and organic, local grown produce.
