About Kim and Eric

Eric and Kim live in Evanston, IL (near Chicago) with their 3 children, but consider Bluewater and a second cottage, Bluegill their second homes.

Kim and Eric purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Kim and Eric chose Port Sheldon

Since 1908, many generations of Eric's family have owned and still own cottages in this association.

What makes this cottage unique

Nestled in the dunes with views of Lake Michigan and access to Pigeon Lake, Bluewater cottage is a special place for families to relax and make lasting memories. The beachfront is spectacular and clean, with nearby private tennis (2 newly-surfaced courts), 2 children's play areas, fishing, biking, hiking, windsurf and kayak opportunities, U-Pick blueberries, Holland’s bountiful farmers' market, and the restaurant and shops in quaint downtowns of Holland, Saugatuck and Grand Haven.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay was very nice, a cute cottage and beautiful view.

The Port Sheldon Association facilities were a bonus. Upon

booking I didn't realize all the facilities we could

use. Beach volleyball and tennis court with pickleball

striping was very nice, six of us played.

True Cottage Living

The only thing more charming than the cabin was the owners. Peter and Mary were so wonderful to deal with and so accomidating in all our needs and wants. We stayed along with my daughter and son in law. It was wonderful having private entrances for each of our privacy's sake. The walk to the beach was a little taxing, but I felt like I had gotten a little excercise because of the stairs and walk to the beach. The beach and view were absolutley beautiful and there are all kinds of stores and things to do withing a short drive. Thursday evenings in downtown holland are a can't miss.

Perfect for three generations under one roof!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Bluewater included three generations of family, all under one roof. It was perfect! We particularly loved the proximity to the beach and the amazing views of Lake Michigan (the house sits well-above the dunes). The cottage has two separate sleeping 'quarters' (one upstairs and one down), so naps for the youngest weren't interrupted and there was plenty of privacy for all. The gorgeous beach was the main attraction, but we also enjoyed strolls throughout the shady, wooded historic Victorian cottage association, and dining al fresco overlooking the Lake.

Beautiful view!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage! We had a great girls weekend away. Beautiful view, walks on the beach, sitting out on the deck and in the screened in porch. Very clean and inviting! Two showers come in handy too.

Beautiful Sunsets

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Bluewater Beach house during the last week of August. The weather was great minus a few short rain showers. Everyday at the beach brought a new experience. Some days were calm and warm and others were winding with large waves to play in. Both were a lot of fun. We had many small children with us and the house was very accommodating to children. They had bed rails, gates, high chairs, toys and even kids cups and plates. This is an excellent family place that will bring many memorable moments for any family.

Great Stay in this Michigan Home!

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this home for a week in late June. The owners could not have been more courteous and helpful. The home is right on the waters of lake Michigan, which on most days was our own private beach. It is perfect for small kids, very shallow a ways out. Home is situated right between Grand Haven and Holland(20 min for each). Visited both towns several days, rented SUP boards, went kiteboarding...just a great setting and location. Thank you again Kim and Eric.

Owner's Response: Thank you, T.K. and Family - It was wonderful having your extended family as guests and hope to see you all another summer. Kiteboarding! We'll have to try that ourselves! Kind regards, Kim
