THE FULL PICTURE
When you are not at the beach or out seeing the sights, Seamoss Villa is a home from home with oceans of calm and cool stuff.
Lounge about, eat outside or simply perch on the steps, sipping your drink, shooting the breeze. Kick back and relax some more on any of three patios framing the pool. Lap up the ocean views from the elevated and mossy-grassed garden.
The kitchen (and separate laundry with washing machines and a dryer) comes with a 'wow' and plenty of equipment to suit microwave meals or a full on feast. The dining area, a sprawling extension of the kitchen, leads upstairs to a discretely designed kitchenette and studio.
The zingy orange wall area (pictured) heads (tossing a coin for this one has been known) to the split level, ocean view master bed room with direct pool access, a walk-in closet and shower room. Back a level and throw open wide double doors to the dining patio which seats six or more.
The sunken and airy living room has major push out and meshed wooden jalousie or louvre windows with ocean and garden views.
Check it out - is there a better place for a siesta than the ocean view full-length window seat in this zoned out and family-sized living space?
In-house entertainment includes WiFi, Smart TV, cable, DVDs and more. There are also old-school games to play, novels to read and design books to browse.
Seamoss Villa has three bedrooms and sleeps up to six people very comfortably on two levels and in king/queen sized beds. The areas are well-spaced for communality or relative privacy. Three bathrooms include two en-suite with showers, a bath tub in one and the shower room.
Seamoss Villa is designed to capture sea views and the breeze from all angles - even when cleaning your teeth or hanging out a beach towel - how cool is that!
SAY CHEESE - SELF-CATERING'S A BREEZE!
Seamoss Villa makes self-catering a breeze - super easy. The grey granite-topped kitchen has several cooking options including an electric and/or gas range stove with a turbo grill giving delicious results. Plus, there is a dishwasher for after. The laundry, as mentioned, has top and front-loading washing machines and a back up tumble dryer though fresh air drying is hands down the best!

SEAMOSS VILLA HAS BEEN HIGHLY RATED:-
"We had a great time staying in this villa and our vacation on this beautiful island. It was a nice home away from home experience and allowed us to have a relaxing time. Ena treated us well and it was great to have her come to the villa during our stay. She provided all the details of the house which made for a great stay. Thanks so much for letting the group experience the Seamoss! Cheers!"
That much-echoed endorsement was from a group of six great guests from Vancouver, Canada, who are very eager to stay again at Seamoss Villa.
At Seamoss Villa your warm welcome includes a cold local beer, if that's your thing, and a tray of food bites and beverages if you want to chill before going to the local supermarket!
At Seamoss Villa we so look forward to welcoming YOU soon!
ENQUIRE AND BOOK NOW!!!
*Many, many thanks to you if you have already booked and are looking forward to your stay at Seamoss Villa.
"We all enjoyed the house and the island very much!!" So says a typical guest review that echoes our feelings. Seamoss was born of a Barbados holiday souvenir: a can of 'Barbados sunshine' ! What it said on the tin moved from a joke to a house and a grand design experience!
Seamoss Villa has Caribbean roots and foundations - the architect for one is Jamaican. He likes to 'roof a room' - the pictures don't show how cooling this is!
The name of the villa is an echo of Sea Moss, the punch made from seaweed - because 'it good for you' as Caribbean grandmothers would have it. Cheers and nuf respect to them!
Seamoss is a family marker in the Caribbean and was built reflecting our skills and passions: carpentry, creativity and hospitality. The extended family and friends and random visitors have visited here from North America, Australia, Continental Europe and the UK.
Seamoss Villa, like a retreat with Caribbean chic, is a fun place to be sure... and we so want to share!!
"We enjoyed this beautiful house at this beautiful location very much so close to the sea, wind and waves, we loved it". Thank you D&M from Germany for a so true review from you.
The Ocean City seascape - sights, smells and sounds - the sea breezes and the fantastic light are a gift and a daily lift to the spirit. Lucky to be here could be the mantra!
The fact that so many ordinary holidaymakers, and among them the rich and the famous, return repeatedly to Barbados is significant. This location, within a fair walking distance of the superb Crane Resort is definitely one of the island's best! To stay or live here has to be a Caribbean dream come true and Seamoss Villa is a universally senses stirring experience!
Whatever Caribbean dream island you bat for or choose, Barbados is beautiful and its beaches and waters are sandy and clean, public and uncrowded. (Sargasso sea weed which invades sometimes is actually aiding the coral reef and the fish stocks and we are told can be made into nutritious spaghetti!)
There is always masses to experience even in such a dot on the map and you are virtually guaranteed the best holiday. Barbados really shines like a diamond and, like Seamoss Villa, is a standout place to visit for a fabulous vacation.
Seamoss Villa has great sea views from all angles. The position is not cliff "edgy" as it is separated by the road - was that an audible "phew" from you?! The usually constant breeze and the seascape is magic. Just catching sight of a humming bird or a small fishing boat from one of the windows is a small joy. Simple pleasures. These include that water is solar heated and that naturally built in cross flow ventilation means fans (when needed) are usually adequate and there is no need for air conditioning. This is especially so in peak season. Yes, a small green-coloured tick for Seamoss Villa!
Unique benefits? The sea is a constant companion, wears a pretty coral reef necklace and is captivating to watch. Shades of turquoise and not shades of grey are what greet you in this tropical and tantalizing spot. Endlessly fascinating - what's not to love about this holiday story?
Inside breezy Seamoss every wall has something to commend it architecturally and artistically. One reviewer describes the space as 'meandering'. Another marveled at the decor and setting. Definitely, the double height timber ceilings and the soaring, glazed bay window or the framed sea views and the caressing breeze as you linger at the dining table are, memorable. As is the living room's stretch bay window seat - chill out corner - aired via opening wooden louvres above your head. A cool spot for a siesta or to stretch out with a good book? Take your pick and enjoy!
Barbados bound? Choose outstanding Ocean City and senses-satisying Seamoss Villa for your stay.
Seamoss Villa's location borders the dramatic east coast and its special appeal as well as the cosmopolitan Crane resort, shops and restaurants.
With its youthful vivacity and luxe-look, Seamoss Villa more than punches above its weight, is great value for money and in a class of its own.
So, if you are sun-seeking and looking for a holiday tonic -look no more - warmly welcoming Seamoss Villa has you covered!
We had a lovely long stay at Seamoss this New Year. A Fantastic large roomy house with lots of features typical of barbados and its colonial stylings.
The Pool is perfect, The big kitchen area allows everyone to join in and cook a supper when your staying in. Lying in bed early morning with the big doors swung open from the master bedroom was a daily treat beautiful view - blue sky, blue sea, lovely blue pool & swaying palm tree's.
It is obvious Seamoss is a very loved house by its owners so as such it is like being home from home. Tamara from the House Management Team welcomed us and is on hand should you need to be in contact during your stay.
There is so much to see and do we spent lots of time surfing one of our passions at Zed's Adventures & Barry's Surf Co's.
Thank you Sew & Tamara - looking forward to staying again.
with best wishes

Not new to Barbados but wanted to stay in a hotel. They were proving too expensive then I came across homeaway. Saw Seamoss Villa & fell in love with it. The villa was awesome & what you saw was what you got.....literally. Nice, quite, peaceful and tranquil. Everything we were looking for and not too far from the action if needed. But don't take my word for it...go Sea for yourself......see what I did there :)
When surfing on homeaway, we almost immediately run into Seamoss Villa and
thought it looked great. Only thing that it was on the east side on the
island and there was beds only for six persons. We studied about the island
and noticed that the east side of the island was more windy, which would be
great thinking about the nights. It would't be so hot. Right? More windy
means also more and bigger waves, so it wouldn't be so great for swimming.
It's also further away from the less windy west side. But we studied that
the local buses are cheap and run regularly. So after considering these
things we decided to contact SEW. SEW answered quickly and was very
helpful. This was our first time to rent a villa so there was lots of
questions to make, but SEW was patient with us and answered all the
questions that considered us. SEW promised us for one more double bed, so
we could all fit there. After mailing a while I called SEW to make sure
last things and about the schedule. Everything went great and we arrived to
the Seamoss Villa at the end of February.
First things we noticed when we arrived was that the villa was very close
to the airport, only 10min to drive. The villa was surrounded by little
wall, and as we walked in the yard, we felt like we were home. It was so
cosy and warm already on the outside. When we went in the house, first
thing that all of us noticed that it a lot bigger that it shows on the
pictures and everything is so clean! There was cold drinks and some snacks
waiting for us, so all we needed to do is to start our holiday with 100%.
Nights were nice because the cooling sea breeze that you only have on the
east side of the island.
The villa is middle of very quiet residential area. Locals were very polite
and friendly. If we looked lost they always offered their help. There was a
grocery store about 10-15min to walk. So it was quite near the villa. There
you could buy everything you needed. Buses went always either to the city
(Oistins) or out of the city (north). So you really couldn't get lost!
Oistin was about 20-30min to drive from the Villa and one way was only 2
I Would recommend Seamoss Villa great for families or even couples that
want their privacy. Safe environment, quiet area, own pool and grocery
store nearby. And of course most beautiful beaches are right next to you.
I definitely would choose Seamoss Villa again!
Jarmo and family from Finland
We had a lovely time at seamoss, it was a shame we only had a few days.
A nice touch also was the welcome pack of food and drink.
We could have got very used to staying there.
The only recommendation would be to take some earplugs if you're a light sleeper as the local dogs liked to communicate at night!
We stayed here for four nights and chose it because it was on the south eastern part of the island, a place we had never been...and that it looked lovely.
We had a vehicle which is a must. The villa is just as shown in the photos. It is a stunning, quite romantic place, tastefully decorated with lots of interesting books to read. The pool is big enough to enjoy and they have some toys. The kitchen could definitely use more frying pans, especially something nonstick to cook eggs on. These things probably get ruined by guests quickly. More cutlery and some glassware (not plastic) for wine and cool drinks would round out the kitchen supplies. It was great that the stove was gas.
Across the street is another partly built-up row of houses but you can walk to the edge of the cliff and see the Atlantic bashing the shore. We saw a large turtle surfing below, which was incredible. We woke to a beautiful sunrise everyday. The neighbour's dog was an annoyance in the night, which can't be controlled, but for light sleepers, could take some time to get used to. Maybe the dog was just visiting but we gave this a four star because of it, otherwise, it would be a five.
It was an easy drive to get groceries, access surfing lessons and visit the south coast.
We stayed for two weeks at Seamoss during January of 2016 and it was wonderful! The house is exactly as described in the listing and more. There were 5 of us staying at the house and we had more than enough room. The pool proved to be a bit cool but once you were in for a few minutes it was fine.
The breezes certainly do pass through the house, making it comfortable and there are fans in each bedroom that can be used during the nights to provide additional comfort. The house is decorated with a mix of antiques and art which make it very interesting and there is a large collection of books to keep any reader busy. The location is quiet and peaceful with the exception of the yipping dogs which is not the fault of the Seamoss home owner. We definitely enjoyed having our base home away from the busy-ness of the west side.
The home owner was wonderful in providing us with anything that was needed as soon as possible and very attentive to ensure our comfort and happiness during our stay. I highly recommend this property for those who like to be away from the hotel hub. When we wished to go out in the evenings, we visited the local Rumshacks.....the locals are wonderful, friendly people.
The next time we visit Barbados, we will definitely book with Seamoss again!!
Ocean City is conveniently located for car journeys to a wide range of attractions (do not miss a visit to Harrison's Cave) and is near the world-famous Crane Resort and restaurants as well as beaches across Barbados.
Germane US holidaymakers' quote:- "Seamoss was a perfect home base to our island adventures. We were able to drive almost the entire island, had wonderful meals at Cutters, The Fishing Pot and the Friday night fish fry in Oistins. We swam with the sea turtles and enjoyed the beautiful beaches on the West Coast of the island". Thank you, people and please come again for another adventure at Seamoss in Barbados.
The nearest swimming beach is the popular yet uncrowded Miami Beach - walking distance from a fish market and shopping centre. This is also the location of the famous Oistins Fish Fry, a dress down, plate up, Friday night special for visiting and local families and singles alike - choose your fish or meat and see it freshly cooked... You eat and dance under the stars to pulsating calypso and other rhythms (check out the Country and Western moves and grooves.) Great also for crafts buying, downing the local Bank's beer and 'liming' or relaxing as the locals do, with or without a game of dominoes on the go. 'Wukking up' - the original risque dancing to soca music (also called twerking of late) can be seen and risked at this special outdoor experience!
Seamoss Villa is also close to a number of fun to discover east coast coves and bays such as retro Skeete's Bay with a lovely pier (and not always open fish market) which is near the East Point lighthouse. Well known among the locals is Martin's Bay Fish fry which happens on the beach on a Thursday lunchtime. Go early if you want a seat.
Want more local flavour? Q in the community is a televised open air dance broadcast or listed - as are most activities such as its polar opposite horse-racing at the Garrison - on What's on in Barbados.
Finally, from Seamoss Villa you can walk to quaint old Foul Bay, taking a Sunday morning ramble and gamble on finding newly caught fish for sale when the boats come in around 11 am or so.
Beautiful Foul Bay - once a must for local day trippers - is always worth a visit not to swim but to walk, run or sit on the beach as the Atlantic waves pound. Those waves being a reminder that other parts of Barbados, like nearby gorgeous Silver Sands, have some of the best wave spots for windsurfing and kitesurfing in the world.
