The Owners - Dana & Lena Hatch

Dana has lived in the village of Salisbury Cove his whole life (so far).

His family has deep roots on the Island and throughout Maine.

Lena is originally from California and lived in Florida 23 years before visiting New England and Maine in 2009. She fell head over heels in love with the area. Looking for an excuse to stay (forever) with the idea of being alone and happy, she bought a Made in Maine store in Bar Harbor, which moved her to Maine in 2011.

In December of 2011 Lena and Dana met as Dana was late Christmas shopping, and visited Lena's Holiday vendor booth. The rest is making history!

They were married April 29, 2012 at the fountain in Agamont Park in the town of Bar Harbor, Maine.

Dana has 3 lovely girls, 2 in law children and 3 grands. 2- princes and a princess.

Lena has 7 chidren, 3 in law children and 2 grand princes, so far....

She started her own business in 2004, and owned a Made in Maine Gift Shop in Bar Harbor for 4 seasons.

They now own Heathwood Inn & Suites Bar Harbor, in Dana's home Village of Salisbury Cove in the township of Bar Harbor

Why Lena Hatch chose Downeast and Acadia

Dana's family has enjoyed Georges Pond for generations as well as Donnel's Pond in Franklin (6 miles away). His Grandmother had a 'camp on Georges Pond Rd, it is still in the family. His parents & siblings still have a camp at Donnel's. Many Happy memories lie here. The beauty is immense. to hear the sound of ice shifting in the winter months from your home can truly touch the emotions with beauty difficult to contain

What makes this cottage unique

The views are beyond belief. Keep the camera ready at the front door, as you may want to fly outdoors when you see the blue jay/hummingbird/geese, ducks/eagles/otter/beaver, etc....
