Overview

About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Limit 6 person reservation)

(Free 2 kayaks to use)-The perfect waterfront home on Hood Canal awaits your visit. You will be blown away by the view you'll see of the beautiful canal through floor to ceiling windows when you walk in the front door and look past the kitchen to the living room and the water beyond. Come, sit by the fireplace and just relax, while enjoying watching eagles fly by or sea lions and seals and an occasional whale frolic in the water. Or perhaps you’d rather set out to scuba dive for octopus just 150 yards from the house, swim, hike, mountain bike, stroll the beach, fish, and crabbing just in front of the house. At the end of your day, grab some marshmallows and roast them in our fire pit, just a couple feet from the edge of the water and also enjoying a beautiful sunset while cozying up to the fire.

The kitchen includes a breakfast bar and dining area. It opens into the dining room and living room where we promise you will never get tired of the incredible view of the water. Sunrises are gorgeous and sitting out on one of the two oversized decks at night looking at the full moon’s reflection on the water is a great way to relax at the end of your day.

The living room has a fireplace and plenty of space for family gatherings and activities. Downstairs in the first floor is a ping pong table, air hockey, 2 person shooting basketball game, Gamecube, darts, and kids can have their own space for games, and plenty of room to store your fishing poles, crab trap or treasures you find on the beach.

Our kitchen is fully stocked and our dining area with a table that seats six, or enjoy eating outside on

one of our two decks while enjoying the view.

If you prefer to not cook, The Halfway House nearby is famous for excellent home cooking and homemade pies. Esquire magazine recently chose the nearby Geoduck Restaurant and Tavern #2 for “Best Bar in America,” and Pleasant Harbor Marina, just up the road, offers superb pizza and sandwiches.

The home offers four bedrooms, two upstairs and one on the main floor, and two full baths. One bedroom has a Queen-sized bed with night tables, a dresser and closet. Another has two bunk beds and a closet, the third has a queen bed and armoire, the fourth bedroom has a full size bed.

Bring your fishing poles and check out the many rivers that flow into Hood Canal.

Nearby Dosewallips State Park, with acres of clams and oysters and geoduck, is also a great place to beach comb at low tide. Brinnon is a hiker’s paradise and there are spectacular trails and breathtaking waterfalls in Brinnon or in the nearby Olympic National Park. Or check out the great mountain biking trails. Divers can see several species of rockfish, octopus and all sorts of crabs in one of the best diving locations in the Northwest, and diving gear can be rented close by. A little further down the road is Mount Walker. A short drive up the mountain at the scenic view area, you will be blown away by the spectacular views of the Olympic Mountain range and turn your head back east and see the City of Seattle skyline. According to our guests, our house on the edge of the Olympic National Park is an ideal location as a base for their adventures to explore the park. Olympic National Park covers 922,651 acres of three distinct habitat zones, the alpine region, the coastline and the temperate rain forest. At 1,441 square miles, the park is larger than Rhode Island(1,214 square miles). In 1976, the park was named an International Biosphere Reserve by United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization, the park was made a World Heritage Site by the World Heritage Convention.

Come to our home on Hood Canal and make memories that will last you a lifetime!

Beautiful view, spacious house

  • 5 of 5

Thoroughly enjoyed staying at your lovely house for Girl's Weekend Out! Lots of room for everyone, well-stocked kitchen, beautiful view of Hood canal. Appreciated the vast selection of DVDs. We hiked at Dosewallips State Park and had a lovely oyster and clam lunch at Hama Hama Oyster Saloon on Saturday. Highly recommend.

It was amazing as always! The host and the space!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at this wonderful home again. From the moment we walked in and saw the incredible views out the front windows, we knew we were going to have another great trip. We have traveled from the Los Angeles area twice, and after our first stay never considered staying at another location. I cannot tell you how nice it was to drink a cup of coffee on the upper deck and gaze out at the water while watching the sunrise. It was such a peaceful mind clearing experience. The owner, Lou, was super attentive to our plethora of questions and gave us some super helpful tips. We had lunch at the Hamma Hamma Oyster Saloon, and even got extra clams to cook back at the cabin, which was fully stocked and very tidy. There were many added features in the home compared to our previous stays which made our time even better. There was a fully stocked game room, tons of movies, super comfy beds, plenty of towels, a washer/dryer, and a carefully designed strand of lights in the outside area that was super pretty and fun to enjoy after dark. We had planned to go explore the Olympic Peninsula and had a bunch of other plans but ended up doing just a couple things because we were having too much fun at the home. I have a feeling every other rental property will be a disappointment after this place. My group and I felt so refreshed and at ease after our stay, we are planning a trip back this summer. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Wonderful cabin getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is one of the best rental properties I have ever stayed at. I travel quite often and this house offers an unforgettable experience. The views were truly incredible. There is simply nothing better than walking out of the bedroom upstairs and seeing the early morning sunrise glistening on the water through the picturesque windows in the front of the home. The views from the cabin were spectacular, the upper and lower deck were such a joy to relax on, and the amenities in the house were more than I could ask for. The kitchen had just what we needed, the game room had a ton of entertainment, and each room had their own TV which was an added plus. I spent my evenings relaxing at the fire pit that is literally inches away from the water while I stared at the thousand of stars in the sky. There is more than enough to enjoy in the home on a rainy day, and while I was there I went hiking at the Olympic National Park and kayaking on perfectly flat water during the sunset. Seals came up to my kayak while I paddled near the shore, and I saw an eagle soar right above the deck. I cannot say enough about this amazing home, I did not want to leave. If the location and setting of this property weren’t enough, the owners made the experience even more special. They were so helpful in providing information about the area before I arrived, were very patient and accommodating with all of my questions, and made it a true joy to be a guest at their incredible home. I’d love to come back soon.

Decent property with views, could use a bit of updating

  • 3 of 5

Winter visit, so most of our time was spent inside. The picture windows overlooking Hood Canal are foggy between the glass, slightly obstructing the views. Most (all?) of the skillets we found were of the non-stick variety and were scratched and peeling no-stick coating. However, (and a potential cause of scratched pans?) there was a good knife selection that were sharp. Considering the size of the house, the dishes and glasses quantity was abysmal and required cleaning after every use (there was only four of us). The tape deck and audio tapes were fun (America to Sheena Easton to Shania Twain). There was a decent DVD collection, though we don't go to the Hood Canal to watch movies. The art on the walls could best be described as dollar store. The heat worked great. Overall, for the price and quantity of comparable properties on Hood Canal, I will likely look elsewhere the next time I visit the area.

Owner's Response: We are so very sorry that you were unhappy with your visit to our home. We try very hard to make it a wonderful experience for all who stay there. Recently, there have been a few big storms and seals were compromised on two of our double pane windows. They are not leaking, but we already have a contractor ready to replace them this coming spring. In regards to the pans, our housekeeper informs me that they are in good condition. They are of high quality and were purchased from Costco just a few months ago. Regardless, I will check the pans and replace them in case the housekeeper’s assessment of their quality is incorrect. The quantity of dishes and glasses were determined by our previous guest’s comments. Many guests have complained that the kitchen was cluttered with too many plates and glasses, so we decided to have around 12 plates, 12 bowls, 16 drinking glasses, 12 coffee cups, 4 wine glasses, and 10 kid drinking cups in the cupboards. We have a six house guest limit, so we determined that would be enough dishes and glasses for one day’s usage before guests needed to use the dishwasher. The art on the wall is not dollar store art. It is actually original photography done by very famous photographers from the Seattle area. The images are of treasured Seattle landmarks and individual made as art photography. We are sorry that you didn’t enjoy the amenities at our home. We love Hood Canal and the Olympic National Park and my husband and I work very hard to provide a great experience for our guests. We constantly work to improve the property, and will continue to do so.
