It is the best place on earth.

Very Happy, Very Full House
We tested the limits and you really can sleep 22 here. Our group was there for a week around the eclipse, and we had a wonderful time spreading between the great room and kitchen area mornings and evenings and heading off to Yellowstone, hiking, etc. during the day. It does require taking turns sitting at the table for meals, but the kitchen was roomy enough to allow more than one cook to stir the pot. Ping pong, foosball, horseshoes, volleyball, the fire pit and the hot tub all drew people out and around and kept us from ever feeling too crowded.
Here are some details if you want to fill the house like we did: On the first floor the fold-out sofa in the great room is comfortable enough, but not good for late sleepers. The fold-out sofa in the "office" off the great room makes a nice private room. The lucky people in the master bedroom need to share their shower with the other downstairs folks, but there's also a half bath downstairs for other bathroom needs. The upstairs folks (10 total, 6 in kings and queens and with the 4 bunks filled) in the main house said that they could hear what people said very clearly, so don't tell any deep secrets while they're up there! You can sleep 5 in the room over the garage with one on the couch, or even more with a sleeping bag or mattress on the floor--other rooms do not have enough space to spread out on the floor. The teepee has a mattress for one and room for two or three more sleeping bags. I found the teepee surprisingly comfortable, but it's very dark and lots of places to trip, so not advised for those who get up in the night. Some of us took showers in the evening and some in the morning, and we never ran out of hot water. Pretty amazing and fun, and we all left still good friends!
Thank you for such a detailed review. Great to see it worked out for your group and that you enjoyed the range of activities Papa Bears Cabin has to offer!
The house and accomadations were excellent. Very clean with all the comforts of home. The kitchen was particularly impressive, with all the items you need for a large group. Location is not great for a snowmobiling trip as access to groomed trails was difficult. The bedroom configuration needs to be fully described in the listing. The issue was that 4 of the bedrooms were upstairs, with only one bathroom to service those rooms. Downstairs was a master suite with an attached bath, and a half bath. We did not utilize the great room above the garage as it was detached from the house. The downstairs garage area was not available to park snowmobiles as there was concern over marking the floor. Hot tub was not available, as it was located outdoors. Taking garbage to the dump was an inconvenience, as this is located on the access road 8 miles from the cabin. Snow removal was an issue for us upon arrival as well as the first morning of our vacation. Parking was plentiful. The owners responded to concerns as best as they could, looks like this would be a 5 star home.....in the summer
Perfect stay. There were 13 of us and the place easily accommodated that. The place was in excellent condition and Sonia was extremely responsive to our questions/issues.
About 30-40 mins from the West entrance to Yellowstone, although we saw a lot of wildlife around the house (elk, moose, birds of prey).
Highly recommend Boondocks for somewhere to eat locally. Very accommodating for large groups, excellent food and great service. Food takes a little while to arrive but that's because it's all prepared fresh. Only about 5 mins from house. NOTE: They only take cash, no credit cards.
Highly recommend the cabin - you won't regret it.
We also love Boondocks! Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Much appreciated.
Exactly what we needed
Extended family from East and West Coasts (14 to 79 yrs old) stayed in this home for a week. It was exactly as advertised! We used just about everything offered -- we brought our own volleyball, played tetherball, ping pong, foosball, and used the fire pit (you can buy wood nearby) and of course, the hot tub. The beds were comfortable, two refrigerators/freezers were fabulous to have, and there was plenty of room to spread out. Made the trip into Yellowstone 5 out of 7 days. It's not close in, but we thought the trade off was well worth it! You will not be disappointed.
More than we expected!
We just returned from our stay in this beautiful cabin. The pictures don't even do this cabin justice - it is even more spacious and lovely than we anticipated. Our family reunion had 21 of us there. We had teens, young adults, and adults and we all enjoyed the amenities of the property and the location. We appreciated the extra folding table and chairs to help feed everyone at mealtime. The kitchen and pantry were well stocked and they had every gadget available - including a potato masher to help with our guacamole! We loved having the extra fridge in the garage and the large griddle for pancakes for our crowd.
As far as activities - we drove into Yellowstone one day and appreciated the closeness to West Yellowstone(35-40 minutes). The park/grassy beach at the lake was wonderful. Although it is more like a 15-20min walk, it's only a 3 min drive - there was a nice parking lot at the park for us to be close enough haul our chairs and rented canoes to the lake. The lake wasn't near as cold as expected for our July visit. And the grassy area was wonderful for frisbee and those who were just enjoying watching the water activities from the shore.
One day we rented ATV's and enjoyed riding them on the nearby trails. I don't usually do laundry while on vacation but we sure enjoyed being able to do some laundry after the dusty trail rides. The second machines in the garage made it even better for our crowd of dirty folks.
I was concerned that having to haul our own trash to the city landfill would detract from our fun - but it was no problem at all since the landfill is just off the main road - we passed it anyway often.
The owner of the cabin was very helpful. I emailed twice with questions and had responses within 12 hours. We had no troubles during our stay so I didnt try to contact them by phone.
We loved our time at Papa bears cabin and would highly recommend it. We have rented from VRBO several times and this ranks up there as one of our top experiences.
Thank you for your review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the amenities provided.
We loved our stay! The property is beautiful, meticulously maintained, and clearly decorated with an artistic eye to detail and quality as well as beauty of furnishings. The owners could not have been more friendly andaccommodating.
