Memories of old times were good, but accommodations very disappointing.
Visited cottage based on childhood memories when it was owned by grandparents.
The cottaqe, itself was very much the same, but many items were disappointing. The bunkhouse/garage was a total mess, obviously ignored for a long time. Seven people could not be accommodated as advertised.
The cottage was disappointing - furniture is flea market grade, except for a few pieces. The entire cottage was disgustingly dirty.
Photos on Home Away website are deceiving. The uneven stone patio and walk are a tripping hazard for visitors.
I'm sorry to hear the experience did not live up to warm memories of the cottage from 70+ years ago. As for cleanliness, we quickly address any issues renters communicate to us during their stay--we can't do anything about issues we don't hear about until after guests have left. The bunkhouse is cleaned and set up for renters who plan to use it, which these guest did not.
Great location and we loved the canoes and kayaks!
Cottage was well stocked. A true Maine cottage experience! Loons and fish abound.
So glad you enjoyed your stay! The loon calls at night are quite haunting, and seeing them during the day is always a thrill.
Private, vintage circa 1920's (the best years)-loons call at night gives goosebumps!
We loved perfect swimming, (I enjoyed my yoga by the lake daily as well)-kayaking, paddle-boarding and tubing, board-games and evening fun family gatherings from this lovely romantic "frozen in time" Gatsby-era cottage!-enjoyed running, walking in a.m. along quiet, shady winding road flanking the cottage-close to Camden and grocery-store-while still respectfully left-alone to soak up the sun and water--we will return for sure!!-Christy-thank you, thank you Thank you!!-this is what vacation is all about!
I love that you appreciate the cottage's frozen-in-time feel, we really treasure its quirky authenticity, and could not agree more about the balance of quiet and privacy vs convenient access to town.
A special Place
This cottage is a true vintage spot with beautiful views and great swimming. It is close to downtown Camden and all the surrounding activities. The interior is neat and clean and harkens back to 65 years ago when my grandparents owned it! A treasure indeed!
A casually comfortable family cottage situated in a lovely location on Lake Megunticook. If you aren't looking for the resort life this camp provides all the essentials. Very convenient to Belfast, Camden and Lincolnville Beach. Christy is great to work with. Would stay here again.
Nice place, great location!
Had a lovely stay at this cottage. It is steps from the lake and we had a nice time kayaking and canoeing. We did some hiking a few days too at various locations/trails very nearby. Downtown Camden is between 3-4 miles away. We had our dogs with us and they loved it as well.
