5 stars. Charming home in a great location. The main living room and two bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Nice flow and plenty of space to cook, eat, or sit and relax.
3 stars. The basement was very damp and smelled musty, despite the deodorizers. Even with the dehumidifier running constantly, it was full when we arrived. We emptied it 3 times in 2 days. Hard to call this a third bedroom. Although there is a living room w/tv, full bath, and a bedroom with 2 twin beds in the basement. Fix this, update baths, and you have a gem!
The bathrooms were relatively clean but need updating. (Ditch the bath mat, it looked dirty.)
Would recommend that you put pictures of every room with a description and location on the site.
Thanks for sharing your home.
Central location to everything in petoskey. Easy to find and everything we needed was there.
Our first trip to Michigan - there for a family wedding. Our "home" was perfect. The house was less than 1/2 mile form the Stafford Perry hotel where the wedding was held and the home base for the family. It should be noted that the 2 twin beds are downstairs in the basement which is a wonderful little self contained place, but the stairs are steep. We had intended for our grandmother to use the twin beds with a guest who was staying 1 night, but had to put our son downstairs due to the concern she might have difficulty navigating.
The house was delightful, the view beautiful. We had some construction noise in the morning as the neighbor was building a house and another was having a tree removed. Everyone was friendly though and so it was just a minor inconvenience.
We just spent the weekend for my nephews wedding and had a great time. The location was central to everything we needed - the church and reception. The house was nice and spacious. The basement was VERY cool, so good for sleeping! Wish there would have been a curtain above the one bed (in the basement) as it was light, but other than that, it was nice to go down to a cool spot. I would stay there again.
We had stayed in a private rental for almost 8 years on the same street and then several years ago rented the upper flat in this home once so we know and love the location and decided to try the lower flat.
The owner of this rental property did not tell us that there was full time renters in the upper flat until the last minute. The car parking instructions were not clear but we interpreted the best we could. Then we blew an electrical circuit in the kitchen when we used the microwave and the toaster oven at the same time. My husband tried to find the circuit box in the basement but with no luck so we worked around that all week (our choice, we did not call the owner).
Saturday night the upper renters made a lot of noise late and were screaming at 2:45 am Sunday that their electrical circuits were out. The upper renters made noise until 5 a.m. Sunday morning. The noise from the upper tenants was WAY, WAY less the rest of the week.
Another unsettling thing was that the upper renters could have accessed our lower flat through the basement as there was only a child's gate at the basement stair and the upper renters had access to the basement through the garage and another set of stairs into the basement.
We're glad we tried this location but will try others before we try this one again.
We recently spent a month in this Charming huge home. The owners were wonderful to work with too. The house is within walking distance (2 blocks) from downtown Petoskey. It is directly across from Little Traverse Bay with the most beautiful views. We had all the creature comforts including an attached garage to park our car in in a Petoskey Winter this is priceless. With the charming features in this historical home we had large room, charming details and wonderful old wood floors. The updates are lovely and increased the function of this home. With views and privacy this was a great place to stay while waiting for our new home to close. Can't thank you enough Brevin for having such a great place to stay! I would recommend this VRBO to everyone!
