About the property

Gracious 4 Bedroom Home With Gourmet Kitchen And Beautifully Renovated Bathroom

Home to Kennebunkport's last deep sea captain, the Nathaniel Lord house is located between the landmark Lord Mansion and Captain Jefferds Inn. This prime position in the heart of historic Kennebunkport is just a short walk to Dock Square and all the shops, art galleries and restaurants. The house is 1/2 mile to Colony Beach, 1.5 miles to Kennebunk Beach, and one block to the Kennebunk River for sailing on the Schooner Eleanor or a relaxing afternoon at the Arundel Wharf.

The house features a gourmet kitchen with a marble counter top, stainless steel Wolf range with grill, Sub-Zero fridge, and a large center island. A separate dining room, living room, two sitting areas, a cozy sun porch and 3/4 bath are on the ground floor. Three stairways provide access to the second floor with laundry/office area, four bedrooms, and stunning new bathroom with claw foot tub and large walk-in tile shower. The house has well-groomed grounds with a large open back garden for games, an outdoor covered porch, and two flagstone patio areas with a gas grill.

About Jeff Moore

The Nathaniel Lord house has remained in our family since it was built in 1799. The house has passed down through the generations to two deep sea captains before I inherited it in 1988.

Enjoy reading copies of the diaries and ships' logs of my great-grandfather Captain William Gould, Kennebunkport's last deep sea captain. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, Captain Gould started sailing to Asia in the mid-1850s and continued for nearly a half century. His seafaring tales were notorious.

Life as a scientist entrepreneur has taken on exciting journeys across the globe - Melbourne, San Francisco, New York, Boston and for the past decade in England. Our journey continues with my recently founding a drug discovery company in London.

Wonderful family home!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home in early August so that our family, including adult children and a baby, could stay together. There were 7 of us. It is a very comfortable home with a wonderful chef's kitchen, 4 spacious bedrooms, 2 very nice bathrooms and plenty of sitting areas to spread out, including a sunroom and a music room with piano. The location is perfect, just a block to Ocean Ave, a short walk to Dock Square, many shops and restaurants and a few minutes walk to Colony Beach. The host provided a generous supply of bed linens and bath towels, beach chairs, beach towels and lawn games. The kitchen and pantry were stocked with many staple items and supplies. We enjoyed our stay so much and look forward to returning soon!

Historic Charm With Modern Conveniences & Design

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at this home for a few days to attend the wedding of close friends. There were 6 of us and we all agreed that it was the perfect compliment to this special occasion. The kitchen was right out of a design magazine complete with a chef's stove and a beautiful big wooden island but very conducive to 'hanging out'. Each bedroom was uniquely decorated with super comfy beds. The claw foot tub and large walk in shower was much appreciated by all. The house and grounds are spacious enough for a large family or a group of friends. The house has been lovingly restored and the gardens are beautiful. If you are looking for a place for a special occasion or family visit this is it!
