Less than a mile down the hill is beautiful Lake Tahoe and walk out our back door into one of the many hiking and biking trails including the Tahoe Rim Trail. A hot tub, BBQ & two large decks for outdoor dining & relaxation. The OHV trail begins about 15 houses up from ours so bring your ATV, dirt bikes, etc. and enjoy the trails.

A short 5 - 10 minute drive will bring you to the Truckee River for rafting or tubing, to the coast guard station to launch a boat or to one of many public beaches. In 15 minutes you can be at Squaw, Alpine, Northstar or the casinos! Tahoe City is only 5 minutes away with fine dining and shopping.

Updated 3 bedroom, 3 bath A-frame cabin with a bonus game room. Newer slate fireplace and entry, gas fireplace is thermostat controlled and we have a newer central heat so you will be cozy! About Kelly

We are a family of four who dreamed of owning a home in Tahoe. Our dream came true when the housing market declined and we could afford this cozy cabin in such a perfect location. We try to visit once a month. We are continually adding new furniture, electronics, etc. We want it perfect for our visits and your visits! Our children are now teenagers so all of their toys end up in our game room for your children to enjoy. We have cars, dolls, kitchen toys, games, tinkertoys, board games and more. We are so excited every time we get to visit this fantastic cabin and are happy to share our favorite activities and restaurants with you. Just ask! Nana and Aunti E are pictured here with the kids.

Kelly purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Kelly chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

We fell in love with the beautiful, peaceful neighborhood, wide streets (nice when the streets are full of snow and plows!) and quiet location next to the forest. It was important for us to be close to all of the great beaches as well as the major ski resorts like Squaw, Alpine Meadows and Northstar. This is a quiet neighborhood surrounded by nice, large homes. When we saw that this house had a bonus room downstairs we knew instantly that we would bring up the foos ball table and make that the most fun room in the cabin. It is a favorite. The kids will disappear down there in the evenings and never come out...except to eat! We even added a full bath to the game room and a door to the backyard so they really never have to come out:-) It makes it nice when the kids have their own space and the adults can lounge in the living room or decks on their own. The clincher was knowing we had thousands of acres of forest in our back yard including dozens of trails - even an Off Highway Vehicle trail as our son loves to ride ATVs. Luckily, the OHV trails start at the end of our block so it is a quick walk to get to it but that trail does not run directly behind our house so we never hear the noise of the ATVs and dirt bikes on that trail. The trails we do have behind our house are for hiking and biking and occassionally you will see horseback riders. It is perfect for snow-shoeing and cross country skiing in winter. It is fun to go out in the fresh snow in the morning and see all of the animal tracks from the night before. We love walking the neighborhood and enjoying all of the lake views in our area. Fulton Crescent is a great street to watch the sunset colors over the lake. And, we are hoping we might get a lake 'peek' view from our front yard and deck soon as some of the trees are getting removed to make the area more fire safe!! It is a short drive to the lake...which is our favorite spot to hang out in the summer.

What makes this cabin unique

Fantastic hill in the backyard makes a great sled run in the winter. Or in the summer you can hike and bike right out the back door to the trails. The Off Highway Vehicle trail is just at the end of the block. We love all of the summer area activities as well such as Farmer's Markets, free concerts on the beach, Truckee street fair, Shakespeare festival, and more. Pick up a free Tahoe paper to see all of the options available. We also just recently decided to make our double kayak and SUP available to our guests for unlimited use during a stay. They are already on the beach and waiting for you! Please add this request in the comments within your online booking and we handle that fee outside of VRBO. So much cheaper and easier than renting by the hour or having to drive the boats back and forth to the lake.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The cabin was very nice, clean and cozy! Thanks for sharing your cabin with our family, it made the 8 hours drive completely worth it. My son did not want to leave this morning. I liked everything about the cabin, location and the landlord was very nice and helpful :) Hope we can come back sometime.

We had a spectacular time here. The kids loved the playroom and are hopeful we come back again in winter to enjoy the snow. The cabin is located conviently near several beaches and having use of the kayak and paddle board throuout the trip was defiantly worth it.

Perfect July 4th rental

  • 5 of 5

Our group stayed here for the long holiday weekend and it was perfect for our needs. The house comfortably slept everyone and we were incredibly impressed with the quality of the house. We loved the deck and the BBQ. There are some great running/hiking/biking trails nearby which was also great for getting some morning exercise. The game room was an amazing draw as well - we had a blast playing all of the throw back games and the fuseball table! The kitchen was fully stocked with all of the cooking necessities as well, which we really appreciated. We loved everything about it!

Cozy home in winter wonderland!

  • 5 of 5

Our timing for snow must have been perfect, with two feet of fresh powder that we could actually roll snow balls in, and make snow angels. It did take a little work to build the sled run in the back, but it was So Great with a 3year old and 6 year old. (It was a good thing we took out own sleds, because most of the ones available there weren't in great shape). Being able to run back inside to warm up is ideal, not to mention the hot tub! The playroom was also a big plus, and our family, including grandparents, enjoyed our winter wonderland, with plenty of space and plenty of towels. Kitchen was also well stocked. We definitely plan to return again!

Owner's Response: Hi Susie, I am so happy you had fun at the Lynwood Chalet winter wonderland! It is hard to beat having a sled run and hot tub right in your back yard. I am sorry the sleds were worn out when you visited. We try to start off with a couple of sleds each winter but never know when one breaks in between our own visits. We encourage our guests to replace any sleds they break but that doesn't always happen. We will restock with new sleds for winter 2016. We look forward to having you up again anytime. Thanks for the lovely review.

Perfect Rental for Families

  • 5 of 5

My husband and two daughters have never been on a family vacation. We decided to go to Tahoe to take our girls 8 and 11 to see snow for the first time. We were drawn to this listing by the game room, sled runs and fantastic reviews. I packed a lot of items I thought I would need in a rental home. When we checked in and saw all of the amenities available we were highly impressed! I left a lot of spices and paper towels I brought with me because the owners had a lot available for tenants to use. The house is EXTREMEMLY clean and well taken care of.

Our girls couldn't wait to get into the house to explore! They couldn't believe how many activities w ere available for them during their stay: Games, books, cd player, I pod player clock radio...... and the HOT TUB and SLED RUNS also their favorites! They went from sledding and hiking in the back state forest in the snow, to their bathing suits to get into the hot tub to warm up! Another thing that made us parents thrilled, was our girls kept mentioning how this house was homey and felt like home. So they were really comfortable in a different setting.

Us parents had a wonderful time as well. My husband and I work a lot and are under a lot of stress. We sled, hiked, made adjustments to the sled run, enjoyed the fully stocked nesppresso machine, and had a blast playing foosball. We were so relaxed at this chalet. They had shovels and sleds. Most sleds were cracked but we left ours there for others to use. Another plus was, my husband and I were able to have some alone time as well. This home can keep kids occupied and engaged at all times.

I thank the owners for their hospitality. We will be booking this exact place next year for vacation. We hope they don't sell this beautiful place. It was the perfect winter wonderland for us to rent.
