Why Nancy and Ryan Soderstrom chose Colorado Springs

This house reminds us of a by-gone era when life was slower and people sat on the front patio to sip iced tea. We love the history and charm of this home, and immediately saw the appeal of opening its doors for travelers to enjoy.

What makes this cottage unique

This house is central to all the attractions and amenities Colorado Springs has to offer. And yet, it is a peaceful getaway.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What can we say other than simply the best! Gorgeous apartment that is every bit as luxurious as the photos and descriptions suggest, combined with amazing attention to the little details, and 5 star service. We've traveled all over the world and i'd choose Nancy and Ryans places over some of the best hotels, no question. 5 stars all the way!

This was a perfect place to stay for myself and two adult kids. We had a rough start getting there due to weather in Kansas, and Nancy & Ryan were very accommodating! I have nothing negative to say about it except for the shower stall is very tiny, other than that it was absolutely perfect. Kitchen is well stocked and although we didn't use it, they even had pancake mix all set and ready to be used. Also well stocked with the much needed coffee every morning. This was sooooo much better than staying in a hotel. It was very centrally located to all the sites we wanted to see, plus a nice walk downtown.

Thanks Nancy & Ryan for your hospitality, was a great first experience with VRBO!

Owner was totally responsive to requests, questions, whatever. I'm a clean freak, vacuum malfunctioned, had new one next day.

Very, very nice

  • 4 of 5

The location is excellent, and the cottage has character. It's not big, and that factor is what mainly keeps me from giving all five stars. The bedroom size leaves one occupant of the bed against a wall, making it hard to leave the bed without disturbing the other occupant. Also, the bathroom is very small, so much so that large-sized people might have difficulties negotiating it. As a final matter, the television only got local channels, and, of those, the CBS one did not function.

Largely offsetting any of that, the owners obviously have given a lot of thought to making a stay pleasant and enjoyable. The kitchen is well equipped, with nice plates, silverware, pots and pans, and microwave and toaster. Beyond that, the frig had packets of ketchup, jelly, and peanut butter to save guests from buying and wasting whole bottles or jars. The cabinets also had spices, salt and pepper, and coffee.

The unit is bright and attractive. Making the reservation was easy and quick, and the owners promptly refunded our deposit.

Overall, this rental is a very reasonably priced quantum leap over a hotel room. In warm weather, it would provide opportunities to walk or jog through interesting neighborhoods, and it's a very easy drive to downtown or other parts of town. We would definitely stay here again or recommend it to our friends.

Sweet and Cozy!

  • 5 of 5

This little cottage is warm and inviting from the moment you come in. Charming wood floors and beautiful Scandinavian decor. It was impeccably clean, and every need was anticipated. The kitchen is generously stocked with everything you need to prepare meals, and we were even gifted with a pancake mix that made the next day's breakfast plans nice and easy. We took walks around the neighborhood when we weren't doing the touristy things in the area, and there is a park directly across the street! This cottage was the perfect home base for all of our adventures, and it took no time at all to get from here to the Cliff Dwellings, Garden of the Gods, and Pikes Peak. We were delighted to see the Olympic training facility on our street and walked all around it, taking photos and imagining who was in there. We had a beautiful time and would definitely stay at one of Nancy and Ryan's properties again. They are perfect hosts.
