Los Muertos Beach Condo Rental Photos and Description

Perched on the hillside above the world renowned Los Muertos Beach, in the prestigious and safe neighborhood of Amapas, this spacious studio is part of a quaint 24-unit Spanish hacienda-style condo complex. Decorated in the traditional Mexican style and oozing with charm, this property is truly one of a kind.

Perfectly situated, this quaint pied-à-terre is within walking distance of all the great downtown attractions. Within minutes you can be strolling the spectacular Malecón ocean boardwalk, sipping a margarita on the beach, dining at a multitude of restaurants and cantinas, or visiting the many art galleries and boutiques. This corner unit studio is the ideal downtown base to explore everything that Puerto Vallarta has to offer.

Located on the city's main road (the trade off to this great location is the traffic noise), hailing a cab or catching a bus to explore other areas is easy to do.

We do have to mention stairs. As the building terraces down the side of a mountain, access to the condo from street level is a combination of hills and several flights of stairs. In addition, the quickest route to the beach incorporates approximately 10 flights from the main road. There are certainly other ways to access the beach involving fewer stairs, though they are not as direct. If you have mobility issues, this is not the place for you, though most people find the steps to be great exercise, not to mention, these routes provide access to the city's most charming and secret passageways!

The unit’s amenities include:

• King size bed

• Ample storage

• Well-equipped kitchen

• Designated dining area

• Lounge area with 40 inch Flat screen TV (no local or cable service provided; you must provide content)

• Blu-ray DVD player (no DVDs or Blu-rays provided)

• Complimentary Wi-Fi (capable of streaming Netflix or other services)

• Juliet balcony overlooking pool

• Large balcony with outdoor dining

• Stainless steel charcoal BBQ

• Air conditioning

• Beach towels

• Onsite property manager

• Twice weekly maid service included

• Two swimming pools, one with a heated jetted jacuzzi

About The Owner

My wife and I live in Milwaukee, WI and have been traveling to Mexico and other Caribbean destinations since 1987. In 2010, we started to seriously look into purchasing a property to escape the Wisconsin winters—a few weeks per year. We looked in Panama, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and ultimately in Mexico.

We visited Puerto Vallarta in 2007. We stayed at one of our neighbor’s condo in Conchas Chinas and absolutely loved it. After a trip to Puerto Rico in 2014, we became frustrated with not finding a property that had the “old world charm” we desired. So, we started searching in PV based on our memorable experience years ago.

Today, we own two properties in PV (A studio in Amapas overlooking Los Muertos Beach; HomeAway Listing #3922382 and a 1 Bedroom freestanding villa next to the iconic church, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe; VRBO Listing #742876). We have great neighbors at both properties.

Located on the shores of Bahia de Banderas, Mexico's largest bay, Puerto Vallarta is an incredible vacation destination. This once small fishing village is now a charming resort area that is the perfect mélange of modern amenities and historic traditions.

Picturesque colonial and whitewashed buildings, cobblestone streets, red Spanish tile roofs and secret passageways is what makes Puerto Vallarta so special to us.

Others agree…Puerto Vallarta has been voted the friendliest city in the world by Condé Nast Magazine, the best place to retire by The American Association of Retired Persons and the best Mexican Vacation destination by

We, personally, selected the area as our second home because it provides a wonderful opportunity for our sons to learn about and immerse themselves in the amazing culture Puerto Vallarta has to offer. The food, language, customs and celebrations continue to provide education and enjoyment each and every time we visit…It is also where, one day, we plan to spend our retirement (sadly, as our boys are young, no time soon…).

Great Studio if you Don't Mind Climbing

  • 4 of 5

This studio was lovely and the view was spectacular. The terrace gives you a panorama of Banderas Bay and the side doors overlook the pool. The staff is totally accommodating and helpful and the complex is well care for. Be aware that there are more than 120 steps to the beach and the restaurants , followed by a climb to reach the condo. A taxi is necessary at night to cross a major highway and there are no lights on the steps.

There is a radio and a tv screen, but no cable service, so you have to bring your own laptap and movies if you want video. The kitchen is well equipped for light cooking and there is a table and chairs on the terrace, as well as indoors.

Fantastic Place

  • 5 of 5

We had the most perfect time at this cozy place, a studio with a little kitchen, beautiful sunset views from the balcony and upper level pool, a lower level pool that was terrific. The traffic was a nonissue at night, the walk down to the beach was really fun, be it the stairs (we counted 153) or the road, and loved the bit of exercise. Would return in a minute.

Great unit, great pool, great location, exceptional views of the sunset and great value for money.

  • 5 of 5

We very much appreciated the two weeks we spent in Adrian's unit. Adrian was very responsive to our many questions during our stay. The location is ideal. The unit is located close to the beach and downtown Puerto Vallarta. If you have mobility issues, the cab fare to the unit from downtown is approximately 50 pesos. We witnessed spectacular sunsets and views from our balcony. The unit is spacious with a king size bed. We seldom used the AC and preferred to use the ceiling fan to cool the unit at night. The noise from the highway was not an issue for us. We would definitely stay in Adrian's unit again and would recommend the unit to our friends. This is great value for your money.

Exactly as promised

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed for two weeks the end of Jan. The property was perfect for us and exactly as described. The location was close to everything and the view............ amazing. The complex itself was very clean and well taken care of.The traffic noise from the hi-way could definitely be heard in the unit, but we didn't find it bothersome. There are alot of stairs and large hills to get from the beach to the condo, but again wasn't an issue for us.

We didn't have any problems while staying and the encounters with staff were always very positive and friendly. Adrian checked in with us to see if things were going ok as well.

Over all great value for cost

Good value for a studio close to the beach and all the vitality of the Romantic Zone

  • 5 of 5

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for sharing your place, it was nicely furnished and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable. Used the pool several times though spent most of the time at the beach. Enjoyed meeting your neighbor below and the renters next door. Oscar and Alberto (he goes by another name also) were very helpful, they checked me in and out and got me water. The noise from the highway right in front of the unit was distracting though (used my earplugs for sleeping) and will be looking for a place next year where I can sit on the balcony and veg watching the ocean. There was a steady stream of trucks, buses and cars. Nice flat screen TV but never did figure out if it was usable and ended up watching several Netflix/Amazon movies on my laptop, but not much of a TV person when on vacation.

Lovely view to wake up to!

  • 4 of 5

This clean and attractive studio is just as it's described: a great value, with a view to die for (right from the bed!), proximity to the best Vallarta has to offer, and a surprising abundance of space for a studio. The terrace with its cute little charcoal grill is very pleasant, the bathroom is nice and big with classic Mexican tile work, the kingsize bed is very comfortable, and the decorations are all very tasteful. In addition to offering the perfect view of the ocean and Marietta Islands, the studio also looks over the condo complex's wonderful saltwater pool and jacuzzi, which we enjoyed immensely.

There are two minor things that make this a 4-star review rather than 5: First, the studio is right above a busy road, which can be a bit loud if you like open-air living (keeping the terrace doors open) like we do. This is a bit of a double-edged sword, though, since the complex's proximity to the road makes it very easy to catch a 50 cent bus to the pristine beaches, small fishing villages, great restaurants, jungle waterfalls, and other enchanting destinations south of Vallarta, or to walk or catch a cab to the heart of old (i.e. best) town. We stopped noticing the road noise pretty soon after we arrived. The second minor drawback is only a drawback if you like cooking while on vacation. The studio's kitchen is (naturally) a studio kitchen, meaning it doesn't have a huge amount of prep space and the sink is quite small. That said, we still managed to prepare some nice meals there.

Adrian was a very friendly and responsive host, and was prompt in refunding our damage deposit following our stay. We also greatly appreciated the little guide he put together, which is bound and waiting for you in the studio when you arrive. All in all, this is a great value for an individual or couple with good taste and good knees (the climb up from the beach and main road is quite steep -- what better way to work off all of that beer, tequila, guacamole, and chips?).
