We enjoy the serenity of our home, weather we sit on the balcony and swing, take in the views or spend time at the table playing games with family - we are 'Shore to make Memories' on St. George Island.
Our group just got back from a week at Shore Memories on St. George Island.
First, a comment about this property's fabulous owner. The week before our trip, Tropical Storm/Hurricane Hermine was barreling toward the island and we weren't sure if we were even going to make the trip. Communication with Lisa throughout was absolutely phenomenal and she was really on top of keeping us informed about the status of the island and her property. Fortunately, the storm largely spared the island and we were able to have our vacation.
The home itself is really nice and is one of the most well-stocked VRBO's we've ever stayed at. Everything has been thought of, from the baby gates to the Keurig. The pool is a really nice amenity to have when you are just "beached out," but the walk to the beach takes less than 5 mins and we loved being able to hear the waves crash out on the deck.
The home is a short drive into the center of town, and far enough away that you could enjoy lots of peace and quiet.
We would highly recommend Shore Memories to anyone looking to enjoy a very relaxing, island/beach vacation with family and/or friends.
We had a FANTASTIC time at Shore Memories! I turned 40 in August, so I rented Shore Memories for 2 weeks and invited various friends and family to come celebrate with me as they could, so I had a constantly changing group of people I love and it was terrific!
The property owners were so friendly and outgoing and easy to work with.
I definitely recommend paying to use the beach supplies. With the short walk to the beach, the wagons are extremely helpful for transporting the umbrellas and chairs, especially if you have a large group.
The home is very comfortable and welcoming. My favorite part of the house is that I could see the ocean from the master shower!
We went to the beach a lot and used the pool a lot too. Beware of stingrays! I got stung and had to go to the emergency room, which, fyi, is in Apalachicola. We saw dolphins almost every day.
I would recommend bringing some groceries with you if you have room in the car, as groceries on the island are limited and expensive. We loved ice cream at Aunt Ebby's, and BBQ at The Beach Pit, and Black Marlin's was good as well. Harry A's was fine, but I'm not a fan of dogs in restaurants. We did go there for karaoke.
The house is very well-appointed for day-to-day living. We cooked a lot of meals there, both in the kitchen and on the grill, and had all the pots, pans, etc. that we needed. There are plenty of plates, bowls and other kitchen essentials as well.
As I'm writing this on a cold, windy December night, I can't wait to get back to St. George!!
