a) Acrocorinth (Gr. Ακροκόρινθος), the acropolis of Corinth, is a monolithic rock overseeing the ancient city of Corinth, Greece.Ιt rises about 1800 feet above the surrounding plain. At the highest summit was the Temple of Aphrodite.

b) The Temple of Apollo, located also in Corinth, Greece, this temple is rich in history and is truly one of the must-see places in Greece. People who have an appreciation for the arts and architecture will surely find this very inspiring. Both (a) & (b) distance are 60 km.

c) Lake Tsivlou, the idyllic natural landscape, it was created as a result of a natural phenomenon. It is one of the recently formed lakes in Europe, located in the prefecture of Achaia, surrounded by the slopes of Mount Helmos which is abundant in diverse vegetation.Anyway the scenery around you is simply enchanting, environed by a chestnut tree forest, amongst pines and fir. I have read that those who have visited the lake during the summer months took a dive, if your hobby is diving, you can find out for yourself, distance 27 km.

d)The Cave of the Lakes lies at an altitude of 800m near the village Kastria on the country road that connects Kalavrita and Klitorias. The speleological research showed that the cave is in fact a subterranean river, 2100m long, which has created three distinct levels. The particular feature of cave, from where it also got its name, are the lakes that have formed inside it. Man-made deposits (cremations, hearths, floor levels, pottery, food remains and tools) indicate habitation of the cave from the Neolithic to the Late Bronze Age. A tunnel, bridges and adequate illumination allow visitors to admire the hidden, underground beauties. Tunnels, underground labyrinths, stalactites and stalagmites found in 1980m. have been explored, of which only 500 meters are now open to visitors, distance 60 km.

e)Agia Lavra ("Holy Lavra") is a monastery near Kalavryta, Achaea, Greece. It was built in 961 AD, on Chelmos Mountain, at an altitude of 961 meters, and can be described as the symbolic birthplace of modern Greece. It stands as one of the oldest monasteries in the Peloponnese.

It was built in the 10th century but was burnt to the ground in 1585 by the Turks. It was rebuilt in 1600 while the frescoesby Anthimos were completed in 1645. It was burnt again in 1715 and in 1826 by the armies of Ibrahim Pasha of Egypt. In 1850 after the rebirth of modern Greece, the building was completely rebuilt. The monastery was burned down by German forces in 1943, distance 50km.

f) The Diakofto–Kalavryta Railway is a historic 750 mm (2 ft 5 1⁄2 in) gauge rack railway in Greece. Located on the northern Peloponnese, it runs 22 km from Diakofto through the Vouraikos Gorge and the old Mega Spilaion Monastery and up to Kalavryta, stopping en route at Zachlorou. The railway is single line with 750 mm (2 ft 5 1⁄2 in) gauge. It climbs from sea level to 720 m in 22.3 km with a maximum gradient of 17.5%. There are three sections with Abt system rack for a total of 3.8 km. Maximum speed is 40 km/h for adhesion sections and 12 km/h for rack sections. There are bridges over Vouraikos River at many locations and numerous tunnels. Passing loops exist at Niamata, Triklia, Zachlorou and Kerpini, distance 19 km.

g) The Great Cave “Mega Spilaeon”, the eight-story high Holy Monastery was built literally onto a rugged vertical mountain face, at an altitude of 930m. It was established by two monks from Thessaloniki. After a vision they had had, the two monks sought out the icon of the Virgin Mary that had appeared in their vision painted in relief. After wandering about the land in pursuit of the icon for a long time, in 362 AD, they finally reached the village of Zachlorou in Achaia. There, they were led by the shepherdess to a cave where she had discovered the sacred icon the two monks had been looking for. The relief icon is still to be seen in the Monastery. It is made of wax, fragrants substance and mastic and is said to be one of the four icons painted by Lucas the Evangelist, distance 35km.

Finally there are many picturesque villages around worth a visit to the outstanding natural beauty.
