We built the cottage in 2003 and love spending time with family and friends in this easy going setting. We hope you will enjoy it too. It is perfect for a family or a few friends. The Big Lake is spectacular with a beach that is hard to match.
Cindy and Neil purchased this cottage in 2003
The area is perfect for hiking, swimming, biking, golfing (1/2 mile away), and kayaking or canoeing. Everyone gathers on the beach to watch beautiful sunsets.
Our second year at this lovely home! We love the newness of the property and all the extras provided. A nice find just around the corner for my 9 year old baseball fanatic son and I was a little league baseball field! Luckily we always have our bats, balls and gloves with us, and we had daily (sometimes twice a day) impromptu home run derby games on the city owned field! It was a short 1 minute car ride with the equipment, and a convenience store is across the street. They had grocery basics (even got the last frozen garlic bread for Italian night!) without having to go in to town. They also rent tubes for a lazy river type ride down the river from stony lake (access in deep center field of the park) into Lake Michigan.
We stayed at the cottage for a week over the 4th of July and it was perfect for what we needed. There were five of us in our party and the cottage provided excellent space to spread out including the sun room, the front porch and the large kitchen/dining area. We enjoyed making a s'mores every night in the fire pit located off the side of the house. The 5 minute walk to the beach was relaxing & we enjoyed getting down there in the evenings also to watch the sunset from the deck with a glass of wine. We had one rainy day so we all enjoyed playing some of the games which were provided. One morning we took a drive to Silver Lake which was 10-15 minutes away to take a ride on the sand dunes & a tour of the lighthouse. The cottage is beautifully decorated & it was very clean and supplied with everything we needed for the week.
The owners were easy to work with & were very attentive, answering all of our questions. We hope to return for another vacation! Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay at your beautiful cottage. We really appreciated our coffee talk in the sunroom every morning. We relaxed on the front porch as well as enjoyed our meals on the back deck. It provided a great environment for our family and friends to visit. The walk to the beach was a pleasant short stroll and the privacy was welcoming. It is a great location that allowed us to venture out to our favorite spots; Ludington, Pentwater and Silver Lake. We enjoyed all the photos you have throughout the cottage. We would most certainty consider coming back and bringing our family. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us, we had a wonderful experience.
We had a lovely stay here! The owners were very sweet and so very helpful with any request we had. The cottage is beautiful, clean and spacious. We had 8 people here and felt very comfortable. We had campfires every night and we spent a lot of our time on the beach, which is gorgeous!!
We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It is a very nice, new house, The walk to the beach was very nice, we had a 6 month old, 2 year old and a 5 year old, so it made for a pleaseant walk with them. The beach are was very nice also. The house doesn't have central air and when the weather was cooler at the beginning of the week it was so nice with the open windows and fresh air. The last two days of our stay got hot and in the evening we were wishing for some cooler air chasing those babies around and cooking heated us up. There was no cell service unless you drive out 2 minutes to the end of the road and no landline phone. We were concerned about that having small children in case of emergency you would have to drive out to get a call through.
Over all this was a great stay and the house had everything we needed. beach towels and chairs a plenty for which we were thankful :) The owner was very quick to respond to any questions we had and was very courteous. Very nice people to work with.
We typically vacation on the western mi beaches once each summer and this was the furthest north we've ventured. We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage.
It was great for our two families with young kids(all 6 and under), as we took advantage of the extra bedroom and beds in the basement. The earlier part of the week was cooler and warmed up as the week progressed. Our typical routine was to laze around in the morning, hit the beach after lunch, and finish out the evening with a fire outside under the stars. We also visited the petting farm and dairy farm near the highway, which the kids enjoyed.
The various other spaces in the house(front deck, back patio, sunroom) allowed us to spread out as needed. When the lake water was cooler, we drove a few minutes to Benona park and let the kids wade in the warm stream. Already looking forward to next year.
Note: Definitely get your ATT phone number added to the M-cell if you want cell service around the cottage.
