Tried it, but it's not for me

  • 3 of 5

Been going to Las Vegas 2-3 times a year for 10 years now. I booked this trip later than usual so our regular place was not available and we had to find another rental. We were sold on the beautiful pictures of this condo.

* Jason was responsive

* Chic-looking condo

* Middle-of-the-strip location

* Non-smoking building

* Very close to our current favorite buffet

* Has a walk-in closet, luggage racks, and in-room safe

* Security didn't have our reservation so had to wait for the Supervisor to become available,; he had to call Jason to confirm our stay (I couldn't get a hold of Jason myself).

* Condo was stuffy/hot; took a while to cool down.

* No "Hey, welcome! Here’s some helpful info while you’re here" (not like at other vacation rentals I've stayed at).

* Really low water pressure in kitchen sink and shower, and the shower-head wouldn't stay up (had to crouch down and stand really close to the wall to get wet). Maintenance never showed up to fix it. We resorted to taking a bath on the last night instead of showering. Also, the tub is really slippery (no bath mat), so that's another reason for taking a bath.

* That white throw blanket on top of the bed seems like it's not been washed in a while. I disturbed the dust and my asthma started acting up.

* Dollar-store paper towels and toilet paper (one-ply)

* The "full kitchen" has no freezer and has one tiny coffeemaker (our group of 3 had to make two pots of coffee in the morning).

* I wouldn't exactly describe this as "DIRECTLY connected to The Cosmopolitan Hotel." It's more like, "adjacent. To me, “directly connected” means that there’s an indoor walkway/area between the properties. For example, the Hilton Elara is "directly connected" to Planet Hollywood; or, The Signature is "directly connected" to the MGM Grand. At the Jockey Club, you have to get out of the building, go to the garage, and take an elevator up. *** TIP: Remember where that elevator is in The Cosmopolitan. It's tucked in a corner and you may have a hard time trying to make your way back to it for the first time.

* Walking "literally 20 yards from center strip" is through an alley. It’s fine during the day, but I would be very uncomfortable walking there at night if I were traveling alone.

Great location, but improve housekeeping service

  • 3 of 5

Our family of 4 adults stayed at the Jockey Club for 3 nights. The place was very conveniently located and it met our needs. We didn't leave LA until after work, therefore arrived there after midnight.

Upon arrival we had the same problem mentioned by one of the previous renters. We did not know we were supposed to check in with security, therefore wasted some time at the check in counter trying to figure out where was our reservation. If we had been notified beforehand we would have gone to security directly.

To add to the same problem as the previous renter, the trash can under the sink was not emptied; the renters are paying for housekeeping, the place should be clean and free of trash.

In addition, the master bed sheet had hairs, not just one hair! We had to spend the next hour changing the sheets in the bed and the hide-a-bed. The spare sheets were torn on the side. We also found two used pillow cases in the closet. I would recommend getting new linens and find a new housekeeping service.

The condo had a strong incense fragrance, we all found the fragrance unpleasant and others had an allergic reaction to it.

I contacted Jason the next day; he did offer to send housekeeping to change the sheets and empty the trash. But by then I had already taken care to these issues since I would not have been able to sleep on hairy sheet and I took care of the trash myself.

I only am giving 3 stars because of the above mentioned problems. It appears from the other review that some of the problems are recurring. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars, the location couldn't have been any better.

Thank you.

Owner's Response: Your email letter dated Jan 10th with your check in form gave you specific information to check in at security not front desk etc so i apologize for that inconvenience but it was an oversight on the guests part. Housekeeping has been changed and all issues corrected. Thanks for your feedback glad you had a great time!

Pristine Condo

  • 5 of 5

Had a great stay at Jason's condo. Easy access to the Cosmopolitan hotel and casino and an excellent location. Had no issues with the condo, linens were well stocked and everything functioned as it should. Jason was an excellent host, checking in with me on my arrival date to make sure everything went smoothly. Highly recommend!

We were total Vegas newbies! Got some books, learned about some things we could do there and we totally lucked out and picked the best location in the middle of the strip! Most everything within walking distance or wait for the bus just outside the Cosmo to take you where you want to go! The concierge at the Jockey Club could not have been more helpful- gave us insider tips- where to eat, where to go, how to get there! We saw a show every night- loved the splatter zone at Evil Dead the Musical- go there- you will get drenched- you will get zombie lap dances (at least my husband did), you will laugh til you hurt- you will walk through the Cosmo drenched in theatrical blood, I'll be great! You're welcome! ; ) Criss Angel was awesome! Visited Counts Kustoms and an auto museum- (remember this one was for hubby.) And the erotic Zumanity for a taste of the sensual side of Vegas. With all the goings on its easy to get overwhelmed- that's when we could go back to the room where it is a quiet oasis in the middle of Vegas to do some decompressing. Oh, the wine that can be bought at the ABC store in the magic mile (across the street) helped with the decompression too (insider tip from me to you- you're welcome- again!). The highlight of the trip was the helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon for a champagne toast in the canyon and sunset tour of the Hoover Dam and strip at night. Spectacular time we will never forget! Maverick helicopter tours will pick you up at the hotel (they have the best safety record.) We definitely will be going back and will look Jason up again- the room had everything we needed and the location can't be beat! Jason is wonderful- answered all our questions and couldn't have been more helpful! Condo recently upgraded and we loved the look!

Good but would stay elsewhere next time

  • 3 of 5

Jason was easy to work however a few things to note.

- great location, nice that it connected to the Cosmopolitan

- the people that worked at Jockey Club (desk and security) were all very nice and accommodating.

- I paid extra to be able to check in upon arrival (8am). Upon arrival I went to check in and the front desk people did not have my reservation in the system. Turns out that security had my info and that is where I should have gone. Would have been nice to know this information prior to arrival, wasted 30 minutes when I was in a hurry to drop my bags and get to the trade show I was attending.

- Security did not have keys made yet so they had to escort me to the room to unlock it. Upon return to the property (after a very long day) I had to go back to security to pick up keys. Not a big deal, but inconvenient, especially after I paid extra for the room to be ready upon arrival.

- Property was clean for the most part. Trash had not been taken out and was full....which was a big turnoff.

- Property was Hot and Stuffy upon check-in. Could never get it to really cool down.

- usually with VRBO's there is a welcome note with info about the property, how to's etc. Nothing of the sort was left.

Overall, I would rate my stay as average.

Owner's Response: I would like to apologize on the security office behalf for not having keys ready as your info was sent in days prior. I am very proactive and If i was notified regarding AC or any other issue for that matter i would have rectified it immediately, however heard nothing from guest until after stay unfortunately.
