Cozy weekend getaway
This was a perfect space for my weekend getaway. It was cozy and quiet. I enjoyed resting, reading by the fire, and cooking. All of my needs were quickly attended to. Thank you so much!
Charming Cottage Will Delight Some
We spent 6 nights over Christmas, 2017, at this Ellicott City Cottage, which is hosted by a thoughtful and accommodating couple. I’ll list the Pros and Cons:
•Excellent beds, which I may indeed purchase for my home
•Accessible location , close to I70, downtown Baltimore or DC.
•Affable, attractive outdoor space and neighborhood.
•Good and fair price
•Beautiful natural lighting in bedroom area.
•Delicious, warm muffins upon arrival
•Mostly quiet, peaceful setting
•Detailed instructions were supplied for our stay.
.•Cars were parked up next to cottage and returned late, after our 11pm bedtime, which was noisy.
•Loft is difficult to get to, which hosts mention in ad, but more importantly, it is a significant safety issue with large openings in the floor and no rails.
•Kitchen is well stocked with this and thats but is dated and mished matched. Coffee maker had old grinds in it. Kitchen Christmas linens were old and stained. Stove/oven is small (but appropriate for a cottage) but is very old and should be replaced. Kitchen table legs were broken. Think, state park cabin.
•Heat was strong in living area, but not in the bathroom. Thermostat to adjust heat requires standing on the middle stair. (See next comment.)
•It should be noted that the rock steps in the middle of the cottage are not small children safe as they are uneven to step on with or without shoes and there are sharp edges pertruding from the sides. Not suitable for elderly guests either. The steps are important because they are between the beds/sofa area and the bathroom and kitchen making middle of the night bathroom trips inconvenient at best.
It should be noted that we are an active couple in our 60’s, and our son and his wife have a baby. (His family only stayed one of the nights.).
For many guests the cons will not hamper a lovely stay, and in fact, may be seen as quaint and charming. As noted the location is great for seeing the DC/Baltimore sights, and the price is right.
Best of the Best
Everything was prepared for our arrival, which made it especially gracious. The car trip to Ellicott City took us longer than expected so when we got to our rental it was ready for us to hit the sack with no glitches.
The cottage was everything we expected from the advertising! There were some super additions like the great neighbors we met while on walks. Our hosts were very helpful, and I snagged more than my share of homemade muffins.
We took advantage of the covered porch out back with breakfasts and snack times. It was like being off the grid among the trees, with all of the conveniences.
The location was perfect. Close to historic Ellicott City and surrounding attractions. We found some great places to eat and a terrific Korean bakery with incredible Pastries.
OK, I gained a few pounds but I am working it off.
We loved the experience and will be back when we come to visit relatives again. Next time we will take one of the Patuxent River hiking trips.
Keep up the great work Dave and Jenn
Best personal regards,
Came for our 5th Anniversary from Ohio and to attend a concert in Columbia. David and his wife were amazing hosts! Great communication through the whole process! The cottage is so cool and is in a very quiet neighborhood! Morning muffins were an added delicious bonus! I forgot my toiletries bag and they are mailing it back to me. Very kind hosts and we will definitely stay again! Thanks again for the hospitality!
This was such a cozy place to stay. It had a small back porch for morning/evening beverages, fireplace, nice eat in kitchen, coffee maker, coffee grinder, and amazing home made muffins. We loved it.
Great property to relax and enjoy!
The property is cute and quite! We loved relaxing, even though we had plans around a town not far from the cottage. Loved the fresh muffins Jen left for us and the great communication from Dave. Thank you!
