I came to Guanajuato Mexico in 2004 to put a French restaurant El Midi ( South of France) in the San Fernando Square, lovely place being like in the South of France. I decided to close in 2011 to do something else with less stress and work a bit less. After less than a couple of year I got invited to put back El Midi Bistro in a lovely house in the town Center. Amazing place: 'Casa Cuatro' with cultural room with expositions, classic concerts and my restaurant at the first floor of 'Casa Cuatro'.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 2011
Guanajuato is beautiful and unique. with a lot of cultural events and it is a colonial jewel and a good climate. University town with friendly people
The area is really quiet like being in the country but only 15mn walk to the center and we are at street level in a nice and safe area
This property is very well kept and extremely charming, the kitchen and house are well equipped with everything you need. The landlord was very helpful and addressed all of our needs. The property is perfectly situated at the bottom of a callejon so no huge hills to climb, and is walking distance to downtown making it a beautiful retreat away from the chaos of downtown.
Veronique's Casita is beautiful! We had a lovely weekend in Guanajuato. The atmosphere is very relaxing, surrounded by a small garden. The house is well furnished and equippe for cooking, watching a movie or just relaxing in the Terraza. Veronique was very attentive and courteous, she made sure we had everything we needed. If you stay there don't forget to swing to Le Midi, Veronique's restaurant for great mediterranean food!
PS. My dog Teo is still in love with Manoush.
I spent a month at the casita and it was exactly as advertised. The covered rooftop terrace was a real plus, as was the good water pressure in the shower. The place was well-equipped and Veronique was quick to respond to any questions or issues that came up. She was easier to reach by phone than email. It's an easy 20-25 minute walk or 5 minute bus/taxi ride into the centre and is in a nice neighborhood. I would definitely return. Make sure to check out Veronique's restaurant, Le Midi. The food is excellent, and it's in a beautifully restored building.
The location is close to a main market and many small neighborhood stores. One has to be somewhat self-sufficient, because the owner is not there very much, having a newly opened restaurant to run. The bed is very comfortable, although only a double size. It is cool and shady in the mornings and afternoons, which would be great in the hotter summertime. We did end up buying a lighter for the stove and soap for the sink, it was easier than trying to catch Veronic. We had some problems with the lock, the drain in the shower and light bulbs burned out. She did respond to each of those repair needs. There is plenty of hot water, which is wonderful. The maid did come to clean twice during our 19 day stay, although it was at 6:00pm, when we had returned from a day of sightseeing. Veronica did give us clean sheets and towels when we asked, the maid does not do the changing of the sheets.
The upper deck was nice in the afternoon when the sun warmed the area up.
A blue door beckons you from the courtyard and you enter a sweet little casita. It is as other posts have said quite charming, clean, well maintained and the location could not be more perfect. 10 minute walk to the really good Spanish language school, Adelita, 5 minutes up La Presa to see the gorgeous old colonial homes, churches, etc and one of our favorite restaurants Bistro La Presa Resto. Veronica, the owner is wonderfully responsive to any questions and concerns and very helpful with information about the city. Guanajuato fairly hums with energy and almost any night of the week you will find music and many people enjoying El Cento- a 20 minute walk from the casita. Don't miss the owner, Vero's restaurant El Midi. Great mediterrean food and one of the most beautiful terraces in the world. Another not to be missed but hard to find is the Japanese restaurant Delica Mitzu at the back of San Fernando plaza.
If you like to hike there is a good walk from the casita, up La Presaa to the Panaoramic Rd. keep going to the right until you come to the apartments behind the casita. Walk down the cobblestone road and steps and you are home.
We drove from Arizona to Guanajuato and felt perfectly safe. The roads are excellent, the people were very courteous and helpful. Bathrooms were clean and plentiful.
I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.
We enjoyed our one week stay with Veronique on the outskirts of centro. It was an easy 20 min walk to the bustling life of Guanajuato and a great place to spend a week over the New Year. As we live in San Miguel most of the year, it was nice to be in a place where most folks speak only Spanish so we had a good chance to practice our Spanish.
We could book you a massage of one hour and half with Albertano highly recommended and excellent price.
We can organize for you classes with a professional photographer, mezcal tour, barro architecture, gastronomic tours etc
