Maison Pemberton was built in 1937 in the historic neighborhood of Pemberton Heights in Old West Austin. The home was among the first to be built in the Colonial Revival Style, and is among the earliest examples in the Austin area. Pemberton Heights is noted for its expansive oak and magnolia trees, crepe myrtle and lush gardens.
Maison Pemberton was originally built as a 2-level duplex but was occupied by its first owner as a single-family dwelling. The recently renovated Maison Pemberton has restored the 2-level duplex features allowing it to be rented as an entire house or by level. Garden View, on the ground level, looks out through a picturesque garden window onto the terrace. Bird’s-eye, on the second floor, enjoys a beautiful view of the trees of Old West Austin. The Garden View level includes two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a full-sized kitchen, dining room and living area. The front bedroom, overlooking the rose garden, includes a king-sized bed with luxury linens, choice of pillows, and a private bathroom in an enclosed suite. The second bedroom includes twin beds looking out onto the terrace with ensuite bathroom. Both private bathrooms include rain-head showers with plenty of hot water! The full-sized kitchen is equipped for foodies, complete with a gas range, gourmet cookware (including knives), vintage silverplate utensils, china, stemware, wine chiller and recipe books.
The living room opens into the dining room and is complete with a gas fireplace, flat screen television with TIVO, sound bar, and DVD player. Books, games and movies are provided for our guests to enjoy during their stay. A full-sized washer and dryer are also included.
Bird’s-eye, on the upper level, includes two bedrooms each with their own private bathrooms. Overlooking the front lawn, the front bedroom includes a king-size bed with luxury linens, choice of pillows, and a private ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom is nestled next to a large oak tree with beautiful views of the terrace and garden. It includes twin beds with luxury bedding, choice of pillows, and an adjoining bathroom.
Bird’s-eye also includes a full-sized kitchen outfitted for people who enjoy to cook with a gas range, gourmet cookware, knives, dishes, stemware and recipe books.
The living room opens onto the dining room and includes a flat screen television with TIVO, sound bar, and DVD player. A stacking washer and dryer is also included.
Complimentary wifi is available throughout the entire house.
The terrace, with two outdoor dining tables and a five-burner gas grill, is a perfect setting for al fresco dining and entertaining.
Maison Pemberton guests park off-street in the rear of the property. Bird-s-eye and Garden View have their own private rear entrances directly off of the terrace and adjacent to the parking area.
Two bikes are available for use along with picnic baskets, beach towels and folding lawn chairs.

About Ken & Mary Beth
Ken McWilliams and Mary Beth Chalk enjoy meeting new people, traveling, learning about new cultures, creating memories, cooking and entertaining. Ken owns a custom window covering business and is the second owner of the Maison Pemberton property. Mary Beth is a healthcare innovation consultant with over 2M airline miles and degrees in marketing and interior design. Maison Pemberton is the result of their combined abilities and shared interests. Their photo was taken in Cortona, one of their favorite hillside villages.

Why Ken & Mary Beth chose Pemberton Heights
As long-time neighbors, Ken would often have "across the hedge" conversations with members of the Roberdeau family. In 1996, during one of the "hedge conversations" Ken learned that Carol had plans to sell the house that they had built in 1937 and in which they had raised their family. At the time, Ken was in the real estate business in Austin and saw an opportunity to purchase the property next door for use as a rental property. Prior to its renovation in 2014-2015 Maison Pemberton has been a long-term, duplex rental property.

Beautiful home in prime central location
We stayed here for the weekend of our daughter’s graduation from college as we had several extended family members joining us. We thought it would be nice to have a place where we could relax throughout the weekend as opposed to just getting a block of hotel rooms. This 4 BR/4 BA was the perfect choice! Not only was it extremely well located in a gorgeous neighborhood, but every detail you can imagine was considered by the owners. Every room is thoughtfully decorated and the beds are so comfortable. In the bathroom, there were plenty of thick, fluffy towels and even additional toiletries in case you forgot something. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and utensils if you prefer to cook some of your meals. We catered a family graduation lunch and the owners even graciously brought over an extra patio table for the terrace so we could have enough space for everyone to sit. They responded quickly to any questions or concerns we had! They also have extra details like a book with all sorts of suggestions for local places to eat or things to do in Austin. We will definitely rent their home again on another trip to Austin! The house can be rented as an entire house, or as a duplex (each floor has the identical floor plan with 2 BR, 2 BA, kitchen, dining and living rooms.) It was perfect for our celebratory weekend! Thank you Ken and Mary Beth, for all you did to make our weekend amazing!

Perfect getaway from the SXSW chaos
For a second year in a row, this house has been our calm in the storm that is SXSW. With all the craziness going on downtown, it's so nice to be able to head "home" at the end of the day and just relax. The house is amazing and we are so glad that we were able to come back and stay this year. Thanks for everything Mary Beth!

Didn't want to leave!
This has been my favorite HomeAway rental by far. A group of our neighborhood couples just completed a weekend in Austin for a few days of fun. The home is absolutely perfect, with beautiful appointments, great facilities and comfortable bedding. The hospitality was beyond expectations with responsiveness and help in making the most of our stay. Thank you Mary Beth and Ken you are great ambassadors for Austin!
AMAZING house, location and owners!
We flew in from Houston, Wisconsin, South Carolina and St. Louis, as a family, for a surprise 80th birthday party. Upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, a lovely note, few bottles of wine and some chocolates. The house was perfect, well kept, clean and great for a party of 7 (it sleeps up to 8). During our stay Hurricane Harvey arrived and many of our flights were canceled and our family couldn't return to their homes. The owners were beyond accommodating and understanding. They allowed us to stay, at no charge, for a day or two until we were able to get our travel plans sorted out. I would recommend this house to anyone that is looking for a quiet neighborhood, a historic home and extremely pleasant owners. We will be sure to rent again when we come back to Austin. Thank you so much for everything.
