Retired couple who are looking to meet new people and share the beauty of the Niagara region and our home with
Brian Springle purchased this apartment in 2014
Brian and Karen kept in touch with us from the day we decided to stay with them for five days in August, and ensured we had straight-forward directions to their home, where they met us with a welcoming smile, as if we were honoured personal friends. The suite was immaculate, very comfortably furnished, naturally light, cool (so welcome that hot, humid week), and imaginatively designed to capitalize on space used. We especially appreciated the two bedrooms being at virtually opposite ends of the suite; it meant we were able to develop our own schedules without disturbing the other person. We were blown away by how comprehensive the Springle's interpretation of "furnished" is: right down to a filled spice/herb rack, Pam, whisks, and laundry soap; netflix and the guest password for WiFi were presented in an organized, easy to locate manner. The number of virtually new kitchen gadgets and appliances were well beyond what I would consider owning, and I enjoy cooking! They had plenty of extra bedding stored in the numerous closets.
Brian and Karen permitted my son to smoke on their porch, and he had the pleasure of visiting with them occasionally, and picked up some good suggestions on how to get around, and what to see; this was in addition to the organized "mural" of pamplets highlighting the attractions of the Niagara region. This part of St Catharines is such an interesting area, with a wonderful variety of houses reflecting the decades and so well maintained; a quiet residential neighborhood with a spacious, treed park a few houses away complete with play equipment, yet a few blocks from main routes to the rest of the region. This was our first visit to this part of Ontario (there for a family wedding/reunion); staying with Brian and Karen in their contemporary home as their tenants made this experience even more memorable. Thanks so much for letting us stay in part of your home!
Great owners who make you feel like you are family . Great location close to downtown and other great spots to drive to like niagara on the lake which is a must see ! Everything was modern and very clean. Great neighborhood and people nearby. Will go back next year to same hockey camp at Ridley college and stay at this house . Great for small family or two couples ! You will enjoy the experience !
Thank you for your hospitality! We were greeted warmly by Karen and we're given a tour of the basement suite. There was an array of information about activities in the surrounding area which was helpful. It was a very nice touch to have a few kitchen staples available for us!
My husband and two children (3 years, 8 months) stayed in the room with the queen bed. My friend and her 3 year old stayed in the room with the double bed. All of us fit in the space nicely and found the beds comfortable, with lots of extra blankets and pillows.
My only suggestion is to incorporate a few reusable plastic plates, bowls and glasses for young children to use. I also want to note that access to one of the bedrooms is thru the washroom. This was a little awkward when the person staying in that room wanted access into their room or out of their room when the bathroom was occupied.
Otherwise a great stay! Thank you again!
Great location - lovely neighborhood and wonderful hosts!
We stayed four nights. We were in St. Catharines for the high school regatta. It was a very clean and well-appointed basement apartment, located in a subdivision of high-end homes. The hosts were great - and they have done a lot of extras like fast wifi, area attraction brochures, and even had a few grocery staples in the fridge for us! We will stay here again for the regatta next year! Thank you!
My husband, myself and 2 children (under 3 yo) stayed here. Brian and his wife were extremely helpful and accommodating. The pictures don't even do this 2 bedroom basement apartment justice, the main area is decorated very cute and the whole apartment is extremely CLEAN! They also provided us with linens, towels, some pantry items, laundry soap etc - my husband really appreciated the coffee! Being that we are from the states and data was international, we appreciated the fact that wifi was available and my kids enjoyed being able to watch dvds on the blue ray player provided. I would definitely stay here again - it's a close drive to the river (which my husband was rowing at) and also conveniently located near Niagara Falls and about 1 to 1.5 hours to Toronto.

We wish our guests to enjoy their stay but we do request that noise be kept to a minimum after 10 pm and that they respect our home and our neighbours.
