Overview

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 8

Long work days often leave us with sounds of honking horns, keyboard clicks and sighs of frustration clouding our brains. Isn’t it time to tune in to the “Sounds of Summer”? This South Walton vacation rental replaces ringing phones and irritated voices with the hypnotic tones of waves cascading onto the shore, dune grasses rustling in the breeze and most importantly sighs of contentment all around. This ‘home away from home’ has been completely remodeled with all new stainless steel appliances, granite counters throughout, unique walnut-plank tile floors and a private boardwalk bordering the dunes.

Carefully coordinated to blend with the soothing shades and textures that characterize our brilliant Gulf coast, Sounds of Summer offers a beach chic interior complete with sand colored walls, reclaimed wood tables and four bedrooms each with their own particular coastal flare. The kitchen views Allen Lake and the beach which makes cooking oh so enjoyable when complimented by shiny new fixtures and a floor plan that opens to dining for eight.

Guests of the northern rooms will be treated to views of the rare phenomenon known as a ‘dune lake’, while vistas of the aquamarine Gulf of Mexico delight guests in the southern chambers. Features like a master suite set including a giant open walk-in shower; a full washer and dryer; a colorful bunk room equipped with games and books; a waterfront deck with outdoor dining; and designer furnishings harmonize to create the ideal Destin vacation symphony.

Sounds of Summer not only revels in a beachfront location, it’s very close to fantastic golf, dining and shopping experiences. Set along scenic highway 30A, the wildly popular Stinkys Fish Camp is just across the street, Gulf Place Town Center is within walking distance to the east while historic Seaside is just a few miles beyond.

WINTER MONTHLY rate available in December, January and February only.

This home rents weekly from Saturday to Saturday during Spring Break and Summer season. All other dates require a four night minimum rental.

We do not rent to anyone under 25 or to students.

Guest beach access - At end of boardwalk go to the left approximately 75 yards until you see “Dune Allen Public Beach”. This park does offer restrooms and showers. It is prohibited to walk between houses to get to the beach.

Guestbook comments from the manager

This was just what my family needed! This beautiful beach house is in a very low-key area without all the noise and traffic. This gave my family a chance to really enjoy each other's company without all the distractions. And the home is so lovely! It's very nicely decorated with lots of white and natural finishes....it feels very cottage like, but very spacious. it was so nice to sit out on the back deck and watch the waves roll in while enjoying a nice breeze. It's the best of both worlds....you can actually walk to the market and several restaurants, but there's not a high rise in sight. Perfect for families looking for a quiet time but still be close to civilization. We can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your recent review of Sounds of Summer. We are disheartened to hear you felt you were misled. We pride ourselves in our truthful representation of our properties and our business ethics. Thus we are a little confused. In the description of the property it states “leads you to your beach access at Dune Allen Public area which conveniently offers restrooms and showers.” We, also, have pictures representing this beach access and a disclaimer “At end of boardwalk go to the left approximately 75 yards until you see “Dune Allen Public Beach”. This park does offer restrooms and showers. It is prohibited to walk between houses to get to the beach.” The property is defined as a 4 bedroom because there are four rooms with beds. However, you are correct the bunk room does not have a door. We appreciate your feedback and will look into updating our description so we can better inform guests. We understand you do not want to return to this property. However, we invite you to explore our many other properties. We hope you give us another chance to earn your loyalty.

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family vacation. Everything we needed was accessible and we had zero issues during our stay. The only thing we didn't like was the beach access. You have to walk down the road to the public beach access which was a nuisance with a toddler and a baby. Other than that the house was beautiful and the beach was perfect.

Beautiful, very updated, close to beach access

  • 4 of 5

Quiet spot on 30A with little traffic (except for Stinky's Fish Camp across the way). The place was exactly as described, and quite beautiful! Kitchen/dining and living room all in the middle and the bedrooms off to the left and right. Liked that. The place was clean and the management company replaced a coffeemaker that wasn't working within 30 minutes. Kitchen was well stocked with items clearly used by the owners, not just mismatched junk that doesn't work, and a nice grill that was clean. Bedding was nice, clean, and pillows were as well. Loved that you have designated parking space in front of the house. Walk to the coffeeshop/giftshop/beachshop was 1.3 safe, side-walked miles away. I have had a hard time reviewing this place, because I feel like it is exactly as described, and yet, from a general family rental perspective, I want to give a clear description for others interested in renting it. We were a family of 6 (4 kids ages 7-13) with grandparents. I feel like we paid a lot for this place because of its decor, which is fine if that's important to you. However, for families like ours, here are my cautions: There is a place outside to wash the sand off, but it's almost on the street and very public so you can't REALLY shower the kids off well before going inside and tracking in sand. There are no chairs/bikes/beach items that come with the house, which is fine, but some rentals do off it and I'd want you to be prepared. The master bathroom is huge, but the second bathroom is pretty small with little space around the sink, so we were knocking toothbrushes off the counter pretty regularly. There were no instructions on tvs, and we had to dig around quite hard to find a remote that would work (not impossible to figure out, but for a rental, this would be nice). Same goes for the AC. No instructions except a warning not to set it too high in the winter or too low in the summer, and out of fear of messing something up, we just left it alone and we froze about 75% of the time (in June, ha!). The "lawn" was overgrowing the deck a bit, and there was some trash and random clothing in the brush. Altogether, I think any issues we had could be cleared up with a call to their very responsive mgmt, but we felt none of the issues required it . We have absolutely no regrets of renting this place, and would definitely recommend it, but would share our thoughts first. If you've older kids or adults, this would be a top pick! Enjoy!
