We had a great time in our villa, and enjoyed the experience very much. Our housekeeper, Cassandra, was amazing and a highlight of the trip. It was a great property for us, as our kids are old enough to handle the separate suites on multiple floors, but this would have been a challenge with younger children.
The beach was beautiful, although more rocky than I expected, but this did not cause us any problem. It was also nice to have a local beach bar just a few hundred yards away. Also, it is always a nice day when you can wake up and see Anguilla out of your bedroom window!
Our biggest concern would be the safety and security in this area. We did not have a problem, but there were several serious incidents in the week before we arrived and during our stay. The town of Marigot did not feel safe, and I would not want to be there after dark, and I would not let my wife or kids off the property without an escort.
Joie de Vivre is a beautiful villa with great views, beach access and friendly staff. The only downside was the mosquitoes. That may have been time of year or that they just got rain after 5 months, not sure but they were bad. We really enjoyed all the different lounging areas around the villa and the grounds are amazing. Really was a great place to stay.
We had the most wonderful time on the island. The house is amazing, while way bigger than what we needed, we appreciated the living area space. The house is immaculate, and stocked with anything I could have possibly needed in the kitchen. The beds are comfortable. Sunsets were beautiful. Beach is awesome, and pristine. We will be returning soon!
The villa was more than we could have ever asked for. Luxury retreats did an amazing job of setting our activities through out the week. Joie de Vivre has an amazing staff, views, and great location.
This was our first visit to st Martin, we liked a few of the beaches (orient bay, palm beach, baie rouge), some beaches weren't great for kids (too rocky). Restaurants were great (la Cigale, spago). The villa itself was beautiful and the beachfront location was ideal. The overall layout of this particular villa was not well suited for traveling with 4 young children as the bedrooms were very spread out and we found it challenging to monitor the kids at night. Additionally, we had two meals catered in from a local caterer and they found the lack of a grill challenging, that would be a nice addition that the owners of the villa might consider, this was actually the first villa we've stayed at that did not have a grill (this was our 6th villa experience).
