There were lots of thing to like about this condo. The kitchen was beautiful and well-equipped relative to many such rentals. The living room area was comfortable and well-furnished, and the beds were comfortable. The location can’t be beat: a great view of the Bigelow Range in one direction and less than a hundred yards from a ski trail in the other.
But the problems outweighed the advantages. The bedrooms were too sparsely furnished. Most had just a bed on a metal frame (no backboard) and one or two bedside tables. No chair, no drawers to put clothes in. The rugs (no bathmats) in the bathrooms were dirty and slippery. My brother slipped on the rug in the ground-floor bathroom and avoided serious injury only because he fell onto the shower curtain. In addition, we’ve rented many such places, and this is the first place we’ve been to that doesn’t provide some kind of booklet with information about the amenities and local attractions. For example, I had to hunt down the wi-fi ID and security code on the underside of the router, and we couldn’t get internet access until we unplugged and re-plugged both the router and the cable modem.
We were unimpressed by the cleaning job ostensibly done before our arrival. Something was wrong with the dishwasher drain so that when we opened it to empty the dishes left there, it smelled like sewage. While the bathrooms were clean, the bath rugs looked like they had not been washed recently. All the toilets had an automatic cleaning system that sprayed blue solvent into the bowl with each flush. Sanitary, I guess, but it made the bathrooms smell like public restrooms. The kitchen basket was half full of trash—an odd oversight we’d never seen in a rental before. We were also informed by text before we arrived that we need to buy dishwasher detergent because the local contact had forgotten to leave some. None of these issues are deal breakers, but the substantial cleaning fee added to the rent ought to give you better service.
Speaking of fees, be aware that the advertised rental price does not include the cleaning fee, taxes, and a “property protection plan” instead of a refundable security deposit. A two-night stay ended up costing almost three times the nightly rate.
Our stay was great! Everything was described accurately, location was amazingly convenient , local host was quick to answer any questions we had. Would highly recommend to others
Spent a week in this new and very comfortable and clean unit. There were 7 adults , an 11 yr old and a baby. We put the two adults and baby in the lower level bedroom so they could have privacy and quiet. It worked out great. The unit is well equipped with conveniences as well as all we needed to prepare meals just like at home. A real plus is that the unit sits right next to a trail so we could ski out and ski in.We could easily walk to the village or catch a shuttle. Very convenient. We would stay there again without hesitation.
We had a great stay here. Very convenient for ski-in/ski-out access. Condo is a good size and fit us all very comfortably. And we enjoyed that they had lots of games for us to play in the evenings. :-)
Would recommend this to others.
Great location, truly right on the trail. Great kitchen for making meals every night. Cookware included. Lots of room. We had probably the worst ski conditions at Sugarloaf in 20 years but had fun anyway - doing a lot of hanging around the house!
This was a perfect place to stay for two families with young kids. Ski in/ski out, close to base. The condo was beautifully decorated, very cozy, perfect kitchen with new appliances for folks who like to cook. Would definitely stay here again!
