Guestbook comments from the manager

Keera was great at getting back to us quickly with questions, accommodated us on a later checkout time, and was very friendly. The neighbourhood was quiet and convenient to our destination - the Nepean Sportplex. The house is just as nice as shown in the photos, modern, clean and comfortable. It definitely exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful, clean home in excellent location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a weekend away in Ottawa to celebrate our dads birthday.

The house was conveniently located off of the highway and a quick 10 min drive to downtown.

The home was beautiful, clean and very comfortable with all amenities.

We were able to spread out and not be on top of one another for the weekend.

Owners were readily available and quick to respond when questions arose.

Would defintely stay here again

We love it!

  • 4 of 5

The house is very clean, and with 2 full bathrooms at 2nd floor, it’s ideal for 2 families to stay. Plus, basement is fully furnished for kids to have their own zone while parents can relax on the 1st floor. There is everything we need in the kitchen; including soap, detergent, etc. Overall it’s an ideal stay at Ottawa, with easy access to 417 highway, grocery, gas station and everything else.

2 minor suggestions: 1) may consider making a extra reminder for tenants to take out garbage; there was quite a few bags of trash and recycled boxes left by tenants prior when we came in Thursday. Also, taking out garbage Thursday evening, as opposed to Friday morning, as the trucks came in pretty early on Friday. 2) maybe provide a couple more dish-washing pucks for longer stay (>=3 nights).

Overall, we all enjoyed the stay in the house.

P.s. Next time, we hope we will have time to explore the hockey rink in the neighborhood a couple of houses away!

This is a great place to stay...but there are some issues.

  • 3 of 5

The house was spacious and well laid out...good sized living room, kitchen and dining room downstairs... and three good sized bedrooms upstairs as well as two baths on this second floor. Beds were comfortable, windows opened to let air in, and the neighbourhood was residential and quiet yet close to some restaurants and stores etc. So good area.

Because it was winter we did not get to use the backyard but it looked very spacious and there was some lawn furniture.

Everything in the kitchen worked well and we know because we made use of it while we were there for 2 weeks....fridge, stove, dishwasher, wine fridge. There was way too much "stuff" in the cupboards and drawers which really needed a good cleaning but the dishes and pans and pots were adequate in number and actually of good quality.

For me the main issue was cleanliness.....when you contract out the cleaning which is what these owners do no one really takes responsibility...they just do their superficial part.... so no one cleaned up the cigarette buts on the front steps or back deck....no one checked the drawers in the bedrooms for very dirty socks and pop can which there were... and the plastic covers from duvets in closets ....no one cleaned all the dirt out of the crevice that held the glass to the coffee table or the finger prints on the sliding glass doors or windows...I did that because I could not stand looking at it and I like clean!

We had no idea how to sort garbage or when to put it out and I know we did that wrong....but we only found the Information Book a few days before we left.

By the way, the Internet worked well and when we did telephone the owner/caretaker the response was very quick.

But here is what I would do...... do a good clean up of all the stuff and throw it out...check bureau drawers and closets...and even clothes hangers...way too many. Clean out kitchen cupboards.... and get rid of all the cigarette butts.... clean out the garage such a mess....as well as the furnace room downstairs.

The house needs more mirrors in the bedrooms and better lamps as well.....in the bedrooms.

I have a feeling though that some of this kind of thing might walk.

Not sure what happened to the Dining Room chairs...there were only 5....we used the outdoor furniture.....

Lots of good dishes from Ikea and cutlery and glasses...we have stayed at places where that was missing. Towels were adequate and lots of hot water.

Great place to stay with extended family

  • 4 of 5

We had a good three nights at this VRBO. It was the perfect place to get together with family from across Canada. The kitchen/living area is a great place to be together. Lots of room to prepare food, with room for others to relax in the living room. It was as described in the write up. Very convenient location. Close to the 417 and shopping, etc. We would recommend this place to stay.

Not worth the hassle

  • 1 of 5

We recommend staying away from this property and dealing with the property manager. It is simply not worth the trouble. It is a nice unit and clean, hence our renting it from others' recommendations, however we have had a very frustrating experience getting our damage deposit back. We were accused of breaking the toaster (which we didn't touch for the entire weekend stay), and then spills on sheets and couches (likely due to the parties held before us from the garbage left in the garage). At first we had to argue about getting the full damage deposit back for the 3 nights stay, then ultimately only about half was returned only, since we were still blamed for the toaster.

In addition:

- When we arrived, we needed to phone a few times chasing someone for the proper entry code to the door, this was not convenient as we waited in the cold outside waiting for the new code to be looked up.

- The Wifi password didn't work so we ended up just using our data for the short period were were in the house

- We arrived to a freezing house - it was not heated and took until the middle of the night to heat comfortably. This was not the ideal situation with a four week old baby.

- The dishwasher was already full when we arrived.

- The garbage was filled with bottles and garbage prior to us.

Overall, a poor welcome and post-visit experience. We've rented many units from VRBO with no issues, and this has been the worst. Unless you're willing to test out all appliances and do a thorough check of all sheets and nicks and spills to document, you're at risk of being liable for whatever they find to hold your damage deposit hostage.

Upscale large beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

This 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath home is beautifully furnished with the latest in kitchen appliances and upscale fixtures, flooring, and tiling. There is a large backyard with patio and barbeque grill for outdoor entertaining. The basement family room with large television allows those who want to enjoy watching tv to do so while allowing others to enjoy the main floor living room for conversation. The 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths upstairs are very nice, and the bedroom in the family room basement was spacious. This home is in a wonderful neighborhood, and even though it is about 15 minutes from the city, it was close to the highway and to roads that took us easily downtown with little traffic. It is also close to groceries. This property was well maintained, and we would recommend this home to others.
