This efficiency has a private backyard and one off-street parking space. I furnished the property as if I might live there so I hope that it feels like it has a personal touch to people. Most of my tenants have been long term and seem to have really enjoyed the space and privacy. Feels private. The exact kind of location you want if you want to explore Austin. Convenience store nearby. Comfortable. Off-street parking. Great neighborhood.
In town for business and needed an insta-home. This was the perfect spot. Quiet neighborhood. Friendly Austinites all around. Parks close by. Downtown is 5 minutes away. The owner, Ole, is a delight. Highly recommend it!
We spent about five weeks here; it was a great stay. The apartment is located in the lovely Zilker neighborhood, just a short distance from Zilker Park, Barton Springs, and the restaurants and shops of South Lamar. Nice little backyard is perfect for guests with dogs. The apartment was very clean and comfortable; Ole has gone above and beyond equipping it with kitchen gear, cleaning supplies, extra towels, reliable WiFi, etc. She is very communicative and flexible; she made check-in and check-out a breeze. Highly recommended for longer stays!
My husband and I stayed here while we were in the process of moving to Austin. The location couldn't have been better- so close to all of our favorite things. Ole just finished remodeling it right before we arrived- and it was super adorable and comfortable. There's a fully fenced backyard that was great for our pup. And Ole was so great and accommodating. We ended up finding a permanent house before our stay was up, but we just wish we could've enjoyed it longer!
78704 is considered one of the most walkable zip codes in Austin and Zilker has the added bonus of being right next to Zilker Park and Barton Springs pool… two major Austin destinations.
This location is within walking distance to:
Zilker Park…. i.e. Austin City Music Festival, Blues on the Green, Austin's Ladybird Lake Hike & Bike Trail
Barton Springs - an Austin treasure / natural spring pool that's a great way to beat the heat or get some laps in. Barton Springs is considered a magical / holy place by many.
Eating establishments all along Barton Springs… restaurants such as Chuy's and Austin Java. During the summers, Shady Grove hosts 'Unplugged at the Grove' (different bands outdoors) on Thursdays.
While many will choose to hop in a car to head downtown, Whole Foods, for example, is completely within walking distance of this location. Whole Foods is a hot Austin destination is well. Not only is it a grocery store, but there are an abundance of ready-made and made-on-the-spot foods for different mealtimes and snacks. Can you say gelato? Ah….
Along S. Lamar you'll find:
Numerous restaurants, such as Uchi for sushi, Olivia's (which has made numerous local and national foodie lists) and the Black Sheep (also a great place for beer selections)
The Saxon Pub, a long-term, well-known establishment for music
Shopping of all kinds (home decor, clothing, some vintage.)
A local elementary school and local park basketball court, playground, and tennis courts
Venture out a bit further to S. 1st and S. Congress for more:
Restaurants , some examples are Guero's, Vespaio and S. Congress Cafe
Entertainment venues like the Continental Club and Continental Club Gallery

Like S. Lamar, shopping galore… Shopping such as:

Zilker has easy access to MoPac freeway and I35, Ben White (290/71) and 360/Bee Caves are a short distance from Zilker.
Another thing I love about this location is just walking through the neighborhood and viewing the established pecan and oak trees, old 40's bungalows and 50's small ranchers and new architecture that's popping up. It's a great place to walk your dog, for example.
