Silver Plume Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2+ Bedrooms, full kitchen and bath, mountain views, free ski pass

Beautifully restored Victorian cottage located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Cozy and comfortable with many amenities and easy access via I-70 to major ski resorts including Loveland Ski Area, Arapaho Basin, Keystone, Breckenridge, Winter Park, Copper Mountain and Vail. Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage has everything you need for a great ski or summer mountain vacation. Inquire about our sister property, Sunset Suite, located next door to the cottage. The Suite is a loft-style space with Queen size bed, living area with Queen sleeper sofa, kitchenette and full bath. This property would sleep an additional 2-4 people if you are in need of additional space.

Enjoy views of the Continental Divide from the newly added living space with French doors, vaulted ceiling and gas fireplace. There are two bedrooms with double beds in each and an additional living space with queen sleeper sofa that can be closed off for privacy. The kitchen is fully furnished including dishwasher and all cooking utensils. Full bathroom and laundry make it as comfortable as your own home.

Located in the quaint historic town of Silver Plume - founded in the 1860's during the gold and silver rush - the false-front main street and unpaved roads will take you back in time. DRAM Apothecary, located in the former Sopp & Truscott Bakery which was established in the 1880's, is just a short walk down Main Street and offers unique libations in an eclectic setting, plus bitters, tinctures, teas and syrups for purchase. The Silver Plume Tea Room on Main Street as well, offers delicious breakfast and bakery items on weekends in summer. Georgetown is two miles East on I-70 and has many restaurants, shopping, grocery supplies, and mine and rail tours. Hiking, biking, snowshoeing, back country ski touring, bird watching, wildlife viewing, rock and ice climbing are right outside the door.

Follow the back yard trail up to the Griffin Memorial monument and during the right time of year you may find some wild strawberries and raspberries or see a Big Horn Sheep or Mountain Goat. Or sit on the covered front porch with a cup of tea and enjoy the light on Sunrise Peak as the sun comes up or the hummingbirds as they migrate and play. Wherever your vacation takes you, Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage will become your home away from home.

About Darcee Mond

Eben and I both grew up in Iowa and met at age eight on the ski race team. We both love the mountains and skiing which brought us to Colorado about ten years ago. Eben is the Freeride Team coach at Loveland and he is a Landscaper during warmer months. I coach racing at Loveland and teach yoga. We have a new addition to the family, our son Huxley, who is an amazing little man. We also have two of the greatest dogs, Rufus a Golden and Siesta a Newfoundland-Golden, who may let themselves into the cottage for a treat if the door happens to be left open! They like to meet new people as much as we do.

Darcee Mond purchased this cottage in 2009

Why Darcee Mond chose Front Range Colorado

About seven years ago we decided to follow our hearts and move to the mountains that we love so much. Silver Plume, with it's laid back charm and easy access to all, is the perfect place for us. Then, when the run-down cabin next door to our house came up for sale our parent's helped us restore it into a vacation home and rental. Gail and Joe - Eben's parents - are home builders, antique-rs and interior decorating masters. Together we gutted, insulated, roofed, straightened, cleaned, added, floored, painted and decorated the house and now we want to share it with others who love the mountains too!

What makes this cottage unique

The mountains have so much to offer. The beauty, wildlife, wildness, skiing, back country touring, hiking, snowshoeing and biking are a few of our favorites. We've had the pleasure of seeing many Big Horn Sheep, Mountain Goats, a few brown bear, a couple moose and even one Lynx in our back yard, plus the area is known for the hummingbird migration. The hiking is fantastic, as are the views, and the cottage abuts National Forest. I like to take the dogs for a walk through town to the bakery for cookies. Georgetown is less than five minutes, Summit County is just twenty minutes, and Denver is only an hour away, each offering great restaurants and shopping. World class skiing is a ten minute drive and you will receive a free pass to Loveland Ski Area to use during your stay at Sunrise Peak Guest Cottage.

Lovely cabin!

Absolutely wonderful stay in a gorgeous cabin set against the mountains. The cabin is beautifully decorated and has unique touches everywhere you look, super comfortable as well.

We hiked right from the property and we were in easy reach of great activities and restaurants in Georgetown or Breckenridge. The owners are charming and very easy to book with, we will be back for skiing next!!

Charming cottage in a wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

We spent Columbus Day weekend in this lovely cottage. It was all we expected, and more. The owners were easy to contact and friendly, and they have a lovely space nestled in the mountains. The care and attention to detail they put into the renovations are evident in every room, from the well-equipped kitchen and bath to the gorgeous family room with french doors. We enjoyed the patio and front porch, too and were lucky enough to witness the beautiful autumn color show - golden aspens right outside!

The location was unique, in a historical mining town. A real blast from the past, but with updated amenities and a wonderful location to visit more of Colorado. Hope we can return!

Minnesota Couple and college aged daughter.

We selected the cabin because it was midway between our travel destinations of Breckenridge and Red Rocks Park. The cottage was very comfortable and reflected the charm of the town. The Georgetown Loop railroad was within walking distance. It was wonderful to relax on the patio to enjoy the nicely landscaped backyard and nearby mountain views, and to see the night sky with vivid stars. The cottage had the neatest touches and antiques. It was also well stocked with all that we needed, providing the comforts of home. We received great communication in advance with directions and all the details regarding our stay. We had a very peaceful and enjoyable stay.

Great place to stay, close to Loveland Ski

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here while we went skiing at Loveland. The drive to Loveland was about 15 minutes and I used the free lift ticket pass everyday. The house was just the right size for four adults. As another reviewer wrote, the pictures of the house do not do it justice. The house was clean, nicely decorated and fully functional. There were plenty of kitchen utensils to cook our meals. (You will need to go to nearby town to get groceries) The washer and dryer was great too. The owners were quick to reply to all questions and concerns and made us feel welcome. I would definetly recommend this house to others.

Awesome place!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage with our daughters and it was perfect. The house layout was spacious with several rooms and the kitchen was very well equipped. The euro room with the leaded glass doors and fireplace was my favorite. We enjoyed the mountain décor and wonderfully placed antiques. I would re-rent this place when I return to CO. Highly recommend.
