How many places have sloths that live on the property and many days you can see them and toucans from the balcony or the shower? Our property borders the biological corridor Paso de la Danta so we're regularly visited by lots of wildlife, including monkeys, sloths, toucans, deer, pigs, dantas, aracaris, anteaters, coatis, hummingbirds, iguanas, etc etc.
This listing is for a 2300 square foot villa which is the entire upstairs of the house. There are 4 bedrooms which all have memory foam beds. 3 bedrooms with queen beds, and 1 has a full and twin bunk. It technically sleeps 9 but I suppose more is possible if its small kids or your willing to use our air mattress or one of the couches. The villa is everything that you see in the photos including swimming pool, patio, bbq grill, kitchen and dining area, living room, 1.5 bathrooms, sitting area, and a massive balcony. There are fans in every room, 10 total. The main bathroom has a giant concrete bathtub and shower that has a jungle view and sometimes you can see toucans, sloths, or monkeys while bathing. The kitchen/dining area is fully furnished with everything you need, from the blender to the utensils. The large balcony is a great place to relax or do yoga (yoga matts included) and has lots of seating, 2 large double hammocks and even a TV. The living room has a 40" tv, satellite, blueray player and the ever important WIFI.
The entire 6 bedroom house. If you don't need that much space, we have a listing to rent just the upper half of the house at half the price.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:
Please help us to conserve energy and turn off all fans and lights when you leave the room. We pride ourselves on being eco friendly and carbon neutral. The house is solar powered, but also still tied to the grid so we never run out of electricity. We also have the best drinking water in Costa Rica which we receive from a nearby spring, then it goes through the filtering process and it's ready to drink. The majority of the furniture was made locally from sustainably havested bamboo. The house has a very fresh and open feel with 14 foot cathedral ceilings covered in bamboo and large windows everywhere with lots of new screens to keep the bugs out and let in the breeze off of the pacific ocean. We're located at a perfect 1000 feet elevation where there are virtually no mosquitos even though we're in pure jungle. The biggest advantage to the elevation is that we get visited by much more wildlife. 2nd is that the temperatures aren't as hot as if at sea level and we don't need heat or airconditioning. But for those warmer days the downstairs has airconditioning and there are more than a dozen fans throughout the house, both cieling fans and pedestal fans.
Located in Lagunas de Baru, a private community up in the jungle covered mountains near Dominical with incredible views. Only 5 miles (8 km) from the layed back beach town of Dominical but at over 1000 feet elevation so the temperatures are more comfortable and fresh feeling than the beach. Because we are not near the traffic of paved highways and in the middle of the jungle many visitors see more wildlife at our house than they do at the national parks.
Dominical beach, which has good surfing all year round, offers every kind of tour you can imagine. Whale watching, horseback riding to waterfalls, ziplining, whitewater rafting, kayaking, etc etc. Drive 10 minutes north of Dominical and you're at the gorgeous beach Playa Linda, or 10 minutes south for beautiful Playa Hermosa. There are also countless waterfalls nearby that you will be given directions to.
17 miles (27 km) from Marino Ballena national park, "the whale's tail beach", which is a great place for free snorkeling or you can do whale and dolphin watching tours. 34 miles (54 km) from world famous Manuel Antonio national park which is packed full of multiple species of monkeys and sloths and home to one of Costa Rica's top 5 beaches. 33 miles (53 km) from Chirripó national park which encompasses 125,000 acres and home to the tallest mountains in Central America including the 12,530 feet tall Cerro Chirripó.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS:
I can arrange a private shuttle from the airport to the house, rental cars delivered to the house or at the airport, tours/activities, surf lessons, etc etc. I make the reservation and you pay the business directly the day of. I, the homeowner and host, live at the same property to keep up with the maintenance of the house, pool, and property. I always respect the guest's privacy and usually I do not see guests again after I give the initial tour. But if you need anything, I am a quick phone call or message away and I am more than happy to help with anything you need.
As with most places in Costa Rica that aren't on a paved highway, 4x4 is highly recommended. It's possible in a front wheel drive car with good tires and with good ground clearance during the dry season or when the road is in good condition. But even visiting Dominical, beaches, waterfalls, any anywhere that isn't paved could be difficult without the ground clearance of a SUV. Thats why I only suggest 4x4's because rental companies use poor quality tires that are not all-terrain and road conditions change with the seasons.
