CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, Pleasant Old Town Bungalow near CSU and City Park

Bedrooms 1
Property type bungalow
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

One bedroom,one bathroom home

This pleasant one bedroom bungalow sits on a QUIET street in the old section of Fort Collins. ( when you are looking for places to stay the quiet location is often overlooked; many rentals are on busy, noisy streets. The Scott Bungalow is in an older nice pedestrian orientated wonderful neighborhood)

It is one block to City Park

It is one block from Beaver's grocery store.

Six blocks to City Park Golf Course.

Colorado State University is four blocks away.

Old Town downtown Fort Collins is a pleasant 20 minute walk away along the tree-lined boulevard Mountain Ave.

Being on the northwest corner of town, it is easy to slip away to the mountains and up the Poudre River.

The Scott Ave Bungalow has a pleasant front porch as well as a rear patio deck to hang out on. It is simple and a bit old-fashioned. The bathroom has a claw-foot tub/shower and not changed since it was built in 1945.

There is a queen size bed and a sleeper/sofa in the Living Room .

There is an inflatable toddler's bed and Pak-N-Play 'crib' available if you have little ones.

If you are a cyclist, this town is a great place to take off for long bike rides, both flat and mountain hills or simply cruising around town. Great mountain biking is nearby.

Besides visiting the local breweries the local music scene is fun and diverse.

This is one of the nicest neighborhoods in all of Fort Collins and we warmly welcome your stay here.

About Dennis

My wife, a retired firefighter, and I moved to Fort Collins 40 years ago. We only intended to stay for a year or two. We've never left and likely never will. We love this town. I built a career as a custom home builder and designer specializing in passive solar, energy conservation and green building. We remain active with hiking, biking, skiing, snowshoeing and walking the city streets.

Dennis purchased this bungalow in 2014

Why Dennis chose Fort Collins

The Scott Ave Bungalow is in one of the best neighborhoods in the Fort. The proximity to City Park, CSU, Old Town and Mountain Ave is a tremendous feature.

Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Nice small house in a great location near city park and Lee Martinez park. The owners are very attentive and it is a nice value for the rate. There is a very squeaky bed but hopefully the owners will address that since I mentioned it to them. There is no dishwasher but for us it was not a problem.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. The Squeaky bed is getting unsqueaked this week along with a new window in the kitchen. This winter there will be a complete kitchen remodel including a new dishwasher..

The home exactly as described...there were no surprises which is a good thing!

We enjoyed our stay very much as it is in a quiet, safe and convenient neighborhood. We walked to City Park (just a block away) as well as to Old Towne (several blocks). We also enjoyed the porch swing a couple of times. If we had to fuss about one thing, it might be the bed...seemed kind of old with a squeaky frame & headboard. That said, it definitely wouldn't stop us from renting again on our visit next year!

Authentic Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

This is a great little bungalow--with hardwood floors and woodwork. I loved the design--my grandparents lived in a similar one and as I child I thought it was the neatest thing to run through the bedroom through the bathroom to the kitchen, turn into the dining room through the living room back to the bedroom.

I think it's best for a couple perhaps with a young child.

I enjoyed walking the two miles into downtown--the homes along the way are beautiful. you can also walk a few blocks up to an old-fashioned local grocery store for most everything you need. Easy location to enjoy Fort Collins.

Quaint great place to stay in a quiet part of town

  • 5 of 5

The place was well kept and in a nice neighborhood. I enjoyed everything about the place except the shower hot water shut off one time (I think it was the old valves) which helped wake me up after a day of hiking and hanging out in Old Town ; )..... it did work again after shutting off with no problem. The bed was comfortable and the house was clean. The front porch swing was my favorite spot. Dennis was a very responsive and helpful host, I would definitely stay here again! Thanks Dennis!

Run-Down Bungalow near CSU

If I ever book another VRBO I will spend a lot more time confirming that the mattress is not 30 years old, and that the general condition of the property is inhabitable. The claw-foot tub was adorable, but the shower piping had to be held in place while showering or it would come apart and flood the bathroom. The mattress, as well as the rest of the furnishings were old and uncomfortable. Kitchen, dining room, and bathroom lighting was totally inadequate. It was more comfortable than camping, but not much. The Owner said that he had never received a complaint about the bed before and had no idea that it was old and uncomfortable. Thankfully we lived through the experience!

Owner's Response: If I had been notified that there was a problem with the plumbing I would have come over and gotten it taken care of right away. I have not had complaints about the bed and all (?) the furniture being uncomfortable but am in the process of upgrading the bed now. The vast majority of folks who have stayed here have been very happy and many have returned. I guess for some, it's just not a fit.

It was fabulous. Dennis' bungalo was clean, comfortable, quaint and in a quiet neighborhood.

We had a wonderful stay. We had no issues at all regarding anything in the house, with the one exception of sporadic network outages courtesy of, we assume, Comcast. As we were in town to visit our son, checking in on work was a very low priority so the network issue did not dampen our overall enjoyment of the residence. Dennis stayed in touch via email and a drop-by so we knew that if we needed anything, he was only a phone call away. The house had everything as described, we especially enjoyed both the front porch and the back deck. Water pressure in the shower was strong which was very much appreciated. It was only a five-minute walk from beautiful City Park so we were easily able to get in our daily runs in a safe and peaceful setting. We were only a five minute drive from Old Town, where we enjoyed the many shops and visits to our favorite vegan restaurant, Tasty Harmony. We look forward to staying there again next time we visit Fort Collins. Thank you, Dennis, for being such a great host.

Owner's Response: Glad that you enjoyed your stay! I'll call Comcast on Monday and see if they can do anything to get the internet condition to be better. Most folks have been telling me it's been pretty good so perhaps it was a temporary "comcast glitch".
