Not so charming

  • 2 of 5

Unfortunately, our first impression of the outside was not good, and it didn't improve much when we opened the front door. We were greeted with an overflowing trashcan and loose trash inside the area that held the trash (which the trash service could not remove so it was still there when we left). The yard was unkempt, there were cigarette butts and trash in the outside fire pit, and the gas grill was unusable as was the hibachi that was perched on the retaining wall. Inside, the kitchen was serviceable, but the plates (6 small), cereal bowls (3) and glasses were all plastic and very worn, there was only one large knife and a paring knife that were useless as they were very dull, the oven and cook top were very dirty. The shower faucet was falling out of the wall, the window cranks on many of the casement windows did not work, and the lakeside patio door had a half-inch (or more) gap underneath that let in flies and a lizard unless you kept the provided towel jammed along the bottom.

This cottage could be okay with some TLC. Example: there must have been 25 plus old/unused curtain rod brackets above many of the windows. Take them down! The bathroom baseboard molding was poorly reinstalled and crooked. One of two large ceiling fans in the main living room could not be turned on as it is/was so out of balance that I was afraid it would fall off. The plastic dinner plates were of the same material that cutting boards are made on, so there were all kinds of knife cuts in them which made them difficult to really clean. Buy some Corelle dishes - the stuff is almost indestructible.

The value wasn't there for us. We left Thursday morning.

Owner's Response: Hello, Thank you for your review. We are sorry our cottage was not to your liking and we will review your issues and make any necessary changes to our home. The cottage is an older one but kept up to date. We have a company taking care of the outside and I will let them know your concerns as well. We have never had issues in the past so this is a bit of a surprise to me. To all future renters: I will look into all issues and if there any maintenance is needed please know we will take care of it! Thanks again for the review. Lindsey

Charming older cabin with a knockout view and beach!

  • 4 of 5

The location on Sand Point is unique and beautiful. The back patio and beach are wonderful. We spent most of our time out there enjoying the awesome view of the water. The beach is perfect for sunbathing and swimming.the large fire pit on the patio is a great place to end the day making smores and relaxing under the stars. Caseville is a quick drive. The cabin is a bit older and in need of some minor repairs but overall we loved this place!

Charming and spacious.

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is spacious and everything is available that you need. We had fun kayaking, and even had deer that walked on the beach and across the street. In the evenings we gathered around the fire pit. You can't beat the view from the master bedroom in the morning, looking out over the lake. Beautiful!

Great Stay - Great Location - Great Views!

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very roomy, with all the amenities you need for a cottage stay. Loved the spacious beach and view from the master bedroom! The shallow water was great for our little granddaughter. We can't wait to go again next summer!
