This apartment is located on the South-Eastern side of Paris, in Saint Mande. It is a 3-5 minute walk to the Metro line #1 (Saint Mande station), which is the best Metro line since it runs through the heart of Paris. It's a direct ride to many attractions in Paris. It is about a 15 minute ride to the city center- by time you sit down and look at your guidebook, you've arrived.
The apartment is a 1 minute walk to the Monoprix supermarket, and there are cafes, a chocolate shop, and boutiques very close to the apartment as well. The apartment is a 2 minute walk to a large park called the Bois de Vincennes, which has a lake and pony rides for kids. There is a medieval castle (Bois de Vincennes) is a half-mile away and has a moat and dungeon.
The local Farmer’s Market sets up outside the Saint Mande Metro station every Thursday and Sunday morning and has fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, and flowers. This ‘marche’ is a centuries-old tradition, held rain or shine, and is just delightful.
Feel like a real Parisian- stay in an apartment in a residential area!
This apartment has a code box on the front door, so there's no key to arrange to pick up. Just let yourself in.
Email received 4/28/10: Dear Jennifer,I want to let you know that my family and I had a fantastic experience in Paris, thanks in part to your cozy apartment in St. Mande. Your home gave us a slice of Parisien life seldom experienced by tourists, I hate to mention anything good about your place on VRBO, fearing that too many people will know about it so that the next time I'm there I won't have a chance of renting it. However, I will be unselfish and place an honest comment on VRBO. Your place is the best kept secret in Paris. Many thanks,Nora Lee
It was roomy enough and the large dining table was nice. The WC is pretty tiny but not the end of the world. The bathroom was good. Lots of space for stuff and people. Shopkeepers in the neighbourhood are very pleasant and monoprix is great to have nearby.
We have become so comfortable with Jennifer's St Mande apartment that we refer to it as the apartment. I think it is our fifth stay. Such a comfort to return to our favorite city knowing that we can settle in and pick up where we left off last visit .
The apartment is easy to access, on the prime subway line for tourist areas, has a bus at the door making for ease of travel in Paris .
The neighborhood and the neighbouring Vincennes have all you could possibly need. Local restaurants are great, with Le Ruisseau, just around the corner, our favorite. "Le notre"is a block away if you are looking for a cooking school. We consider this apt. " a find".
The apartment itself is modest, always freshly cleaned, perfectly adequate for a month long stay.
We really enjoyed our stay. Lovely apartment -- not fancy -- but had everything we (a family of four with two teenage daughters) needed. Great location, close to metro, to shops, to a park. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
Very comfortable for a family of four.Great location providing a feel for what it is like to live in Paris. Also, a short walk to the train on line 1 that will take you to any location. Several local shops that provide food, drink and necessities. Food at the cafe on the corner was excellent. We had a great time and look forward to staying here again.
Great location--this apartment is located in an area that it very easy to get to the tourist sites--just as the owner says-it's 10-15 mins to get to anything we wanted to see-- it's really nice to be in a quiet neighborhood that has shops, restaurants and a wonderful grocery store. The apartment is very comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook Christmas dinner. The living/dining room is separated from the kitchen and other bedrooms which makes it a nice 3rd bedroom area with pullout sofa. Owner was REALLY helpful--lots of nice tips beforehand and even tried to help us find a place to watch our beloved Ravens football--when we couldn't find such a place, she actually emailed us the score! Would definitely stay here again.
If you are looking for a great apartment rental in Paris, look no further! My husband and I stayed here with our 5-yr-old for a week this spring. Everything was just as described and then some. Well-maintained and comfortable apt--with equipped kitchen and all the linens, supplies one needed. The area was wonderful. I think we were the only American tourists in the quartier which made the experience even better. Metro was two blocks away and from that Metro Line 1, we never made more than one connection to get to any of the major Paris sites. Two bus lines stopped right on the corner too. And the Bois de Vincennes? Incredible! Just perfect for families. St. Mandé and Vincennes are just lovely--filled with bakeries, butchers, cafes, and all the shops one could want. Monoprix two blocks away was a plus too and the Sunday and Thursday morning markets (and the unique "old papers" market on Wednesdays too) were wonderful--certainly as charming as any market in central Paris. Would not hesitate to recommend this VRBO listing! Can't wait to stay here again on future trips. Thank you so much, Jennifer!
