White Caps Cottage 8 is a unique 'Old Sanibel Cottage' situated directly on the beach and the Gulf of Mexico... steps, literally, to the beach and Gulf. Enjoy sunsets and evening breezes from the screened in porch or the cozy comfort of the open living / dinning room. One of a kind island experience with days of nothing but sand, shells, sun and an occasional dolphin in front of you and the gentle sound of the surf at night. Old Sanibel Paradise.
A long time Sanibel lover and White Caps Cottages owners. We enjoy sharing our cottage with those who are looking for a unique beach cottage experience.
Michael and Kathy Farley purchased this cottage in 2003
We are beach people. The sand and shelling with family is our idea of Paradise.
White Caps 8 is our little piece of a Sanibel Heaven.
Respite from the daily push of life-
Sunsets from the porch and living / dining room-
A view of the Gulf interrupted only by sea oats, sea grapes, Mr. T, or resident gopher turtle, cabbage palms and, yes, sand, shells, and the lapping Gulf waves.
If that's not enough for you there are all kinds of activities from shelling to shopping to do.
We were so lucky in our selection of White Caps #8 for our family visit to Sanibel Island! The cottage is absolutely magical & as close as you can possibly be to the ocean. Every square inch of the cottage has been well thought out, beautifully furnished & is extremely CLEAN! We cooked & really appreciated the dishwasher as well as the washer & dryer. (It was wonderful to not come home to loads & loads of dirty clothes to wash.) The kitchen is fully equipped & ready for a week stay or perhaps longer.
A huge thank you to Michael & Kathy for allowing renters at White Caps #8 through VRBO/HomeAway. This cottage is so special it would be hard to share with anyone besides family. All three of us seemed to have found it to be a spiritual place…. a calming retreat from our day to day reality. Our trip was truly an incredible opportunity for our family to recharge, regroup & be together. Our plan is to return to White Caps #8 each year as a family tradition.
PS: Something to consider for any trip to Sanibel or Captiva are the “no see um” bugs. We had read up on this pesky problem, planned ahead & purchased Cactus Juice as a natural insect repellent. Unfortunately, natural repellents were not a good option for our family & we will be using a product containing over 30% DEET in the future. Some of the bites actually stung when we were bitten & others showed up hours later. Be prepared…….these bugs are brutal & could have easily ruined our trip. Please also remember to grab salt, pepper & your favorite seasonings if you plan to cook as well as detergent, bleach & fabric softener if you plan on doing laundry. We went to Target in Fort Myers before we arrived & picked up a few things thinking the cost would be lower. We could have grabbed everything we needed at Bailey’s General Store or the Sunday Farmer's Market on the Island. Their prices were AMAZING…..actually more reasonable then Target.
If I could give this rental 8,000 stars I would - and it still would not be enough!
The cottage is so beautifully remodeled and decorated. The sound of the waves is the best backdrop.
The property was VERY well maintained and clean upon every arrival.
The owners provided us with every amenity we needed and are super friendly!
I am hesitant to write how fantastic this place is for fear it will book up!
Have some bike's dropped off and you will never need to get in your car to explore and adventure in Sanibel.
The recreation center rents out shuffle board, which you can play at the park in downtown Sanibel.
We have so loved our time spent here at White Caps!
This cottage truly is perfect. First of all I was impressed by the cleanliness! It was the perfect size for the 2 uof s and our 4 legged pet. It was so close to the beach which only took seconds to get there to do shelling which was awesome. So many different shells every day. The kitchen was perfectly stocked so you could purchase food at the local grocery stores so you could fix a quick meal if you chose. The pictures online of the cottage are truly accurate. The washer and dryer was great knowing it was there so we packed less. Bathroom was awesome and even supplied a nice amount of towels. The walking and bike trails were endless. Sanibel truly is a great vacation spot and this cottage makes it perfect. We did have one issue, but all I can say is that the owners will do everything they can to make sure you want to come back and visit again which is what we plan on doing. I would like to thank Michael and Kathy Farley for sharing their piece of paradise with us.
This little cottage is in the best location with an amazing view and only steps 2 the beautiful beach and water. So happy I chose this place. The owners have done a wonderful job with all the upgrades and remodeling. I was so impressed with the bright open layout and all the windows. The views are beautiful! The bedroom was spacious & had descent closet space. The bathroom is very nice with a spacious shower. The kitchen was well stocked & the washer & dryer the owners added worked perfectly and much appreciated. Such a great little cottage and we were very comfortable & happy with our choice. I want to thank the owners for sharing their perfect little slice of heaven on this beautiful island. We cannot wait until our next trip here. We are hooked now and will only want to stay in cottage # 8. The Alverson's.
We were delightfully pleased when we arrived at the cottage and saw the results of the recent remodel. The kitchen with washer and dryer, new granite counter tops, new sink and new smooth cook top with new oven really really make the cottage pop. New bright tile floor through out the cottage and porch give you that beach feel and make clean up so easy. The remodeled bathroom with new shower tiles and clear glass enclosure and all new fixtures is so modern and has such a clean feel. But I think the best part of the new White Caps is the King size bed and new bedding; oh so comfortable! As the owner has said; this is a "New Old Sanibel Cottage"
The views from the kitchen, living room and screened in porch are to die for and the few steps to the beautiful Sanibel beach is so convenient when you need to grab a beverage or take that bathroom break.
Yes we are back to Paradise! We have stayed multiple times at White Caps over the past twelve years and it has become our favorite spot on the island and our definite number one choice. Before we left the island this year I called Michael the owner and asked to be considered as a tenant for our 2016 stay at Sanibel. He contacted Royal Shell Vacations and made the arrangements and within a short time Royal Shell contacted me and happy to say we'll be back next year! Thank You!
Truly White Caps #8 has become a "second" home to us. This past year has been our 4th year in this unit. The owners have continually updated the comforts. This year they completed a total remodel of the kitchen/bath and installing the ever useful washer and dryer. New tile floors are in along w a comfortable King bed.
The view of God's handiwork in this unit is unsurpassed. Sunrise and sunset can viewed from the sofa, the porch or a very short walk to the beach.
New stuffed cushions chairs on the porch are perfect for the early morning read of a good book while listening to birds, surf and slapping palms in the wind. There is a back door entrance complete w shower and hose to wash off the sand.
The location is quiet, scenic and truly a respite for life weary workers.
If that is not enough, remember you can bring your "fur" kids so you don't worry about them being left behind.
Book a week yourself - fall into the allure of Sanibel from the comforts of #8 White Caps, restore your soul -- you'll be back!!!
