White Caps Cottage 8 is a unique 'Old Sanibel Cottage' situated directly on the beach and the Gulf of Mexico... steps, literally, to the beach and Gulf. Enjoy sunsets and evening breezes from the screened in porch or the cozy comfort of the open living / dinning room. One of a kind island experience with days of nothing but sand, shells, sun and an occasional dolphin in front of you and the gentle sound of the surf at night. Old Sanibel Paradise.
A long time Sanibel lover and White Caps Cottages owners. We enjoy sharing our cottage with those who are looking for a unique beach cottage experience.
Michael and Kathy Farley purchased this cottage in 2003
We are beach people. The sand and shelling with family is our idea of Paradise.
White Caps 8 is our little piece of a Sanibel Heaven.
Respite from the daily push of life-
Sunsets from the porch and living / dining room-
A view of the Gulf interrupted only by sea oats, sea grapes, Mr. T, or resident gopher turtle, cabbage palms and, yes, sand, shells, and the lapping Gulf waves.
If that's not enough for you there are all kinds of activities from shelling to shopping to do.
This cottage truly is perfect. First of all I was impressed by the cleanliness! It was the perfect size for the 2 uof s and our 4 legged pet. It was so close to the beach which only took seconds to get there to do shelling which was awesome. So many different shells every day. The kitchen was perfectly stocked so you could purchase food at the local grocery stores so you could fix a quick meal if you chose. The pictures online of the cottage are truly accurate. The washer and dryer was great knowing it was there so we packed less. Bathroom was awesome and even supplied a nice amount of towels. The walking and bike trails were endless. Sanibel truly is a great vacation spot and this cottage makes it perfect. We did have one issue, but all I can say is that the owners will do everything they can to make sure you want to come back and visit again which is what we plan on doing. I would like to thank Michael and Kathy Farley for sharing their piece of paradise with us.
This little cottage is in the best location with an amazing view and only steps 2 the beautiful beach and water. So happy I chose this place. The owners have done a wonderful job with all the upgrades and remodeling. I was so impressed with the bright open layout and all the windows. The views are beautiful! The bedroom was spacious & had descent closet space. The bathroom is very nice with a spacious shower. The kitchen was well stocked & the washer & dryer the owners added worked perfectly and much appreciated. Such a great little cottage and we were very comfortable & happy with our choice. I want to thank the owners for sharing their perfect little slice of heaven on this beautiful island. We cannot wait until our next trip here. We are hooked now and will only want to stay in cottage # 8. The Alverson's.
We were delightfully pleased when we arrived at the cottage and saw the results of the recent remodel. The kitchen with washer and dryer, new granite counter tops, new sink and new smooth cook top with new oven really really make the cottage pop. New bright tile floor through out the cottage and porch give you that beach feel and make clean up so easy. The remodeled bathroom with new shower tiles and clear glass enclosure and all new fixtures is so modern and has such a clean feel. But I think the best part of the new White Caps is the King size bed and new bedding; oh so comfortable! As the owner has said; this is a "New Old Sanibel Cottage"
The views from the kitchen, living room and screened in porch are to die for and the few steps to the beautiful Sanibel beach is so convenient when you need to grab a beverage or take that bathroom break.
Yes we are back to Paradise! We have stayed multiple times at White Caps over the past twelve years and it has become our favorite spot on the island and our definite number one choice. Before we left the island this year I called Michael the owner and asked to be considered as a tenant for our 2016 stay at Sanibel. He contacted Royal Shell Vacations and made the arrangements and within a short time Royal Shell contacted me and happy to say we'll be back next year! Thank You!
Truly White Caps #8 has become a "second" home to us. This past year has been our 4th year in this unit. The owners have continually updated the comforts. This year they completed a total remodel of the kitchen/bath and installing the ever useful washer and dryer. New tile floors are in along w a comfortable King bed.
The view of God's handiwork in this unit is unsurpassed. Sunrise and sunset can viewed from the sofa, the porch or a very short walk to the beach.
New stuffed cushions chairs on the porch are perfect for the early morning read of a good book while listening to birds, surf and slapping palms in the wind. There is a back door entrance complete w shower and hose to wash off the sand.
The location is quiet, scenic and truly a respite for life weary workers.
If that is not enough, remember you can bring your "fur" kids so you don't worry about them being left behind.
Book a week yourself - fall into the allure of Sanibel from the comforts of #8 White Caps, restore your soul -- you'll be back!!!
This cottage was exactly as described, the interior and exterior is just like the picture shows. The cottage is large enough to accomadate three adults. We spent most of our time on the beach, which is just a few steps from the Gulf. We stayed on the island the whole time we were there. Shopped on the island. Baileys seems to have the best selection and prices on food. The daily beach strolls were very relaxting, and my regret is that I didn't bring my watercolor pencils with me, it is a great place for creativity also. We did have a small problem, but Royal Shell was on it right away, and they took care of it. I want to thank you Michael and Kathy for the gift card. We had dinner at Traditions, the views, food and service were outstanding. Thanks again and we would like to come back for a return visit. Hope your remodeling goes well and can't wait to see it. Also the local vet is great, we had to take our small dog there to get one of those prickly burs out of his paw. Thanks again for having us.
We had stayed at another cottage in 2013 and met Kathy and Michael during that trip. We had such a pleasant trip that year we knew we would be back and wanted to stay in #8...right on the beach. What could be better than that? We stay in June 2015 and I could go back tomorrow. If you are looking for simplicity, quiet, and peace this is the place to stay. All day and evening views of the ocean and beach. Thunderstorms at night were also nice to watch from the couch. Every day the first thing we did was pull up all the shades. The unit is well stocked and very clean. We really only left the cottage and beach a few times. Groceries and dinner out a few times. You don't want to leave! Every day we saw dolphins and manatees. One morning walking to the beach I saw a bobcat sitting on the path. It's just a wonderful place to stay and if you are looking for a real "get away" you will find it here. I am looking forward to another trip in the near future. I also need to add that check-in was awesome! Royal Shell did a wonderful job and I think we were in and out in less than 5 minutes. The staff was very pleasant and as an added bonus...was handing out cookies and bottles of water. Both were appreciated after a long drive :)
Sanibel is world renown for sea shell collecting with a Sea Shell Museum right only minutes away from the cottage.
Tarpon fishing right off the beach, with Dolphins playing and the occasional Manatee swimming down the shore line to.
Wonderful restaurants for every taste, and fresh sea food available to take home to cook on the BBQ.
Aside from the Gulf with boating, swimming, shelling, and relaxing on the beach, there are Golf courses, biking, hiking and local theater to attend.
Or, Dine and Dance at Traditions Restaurant and Inn only a short walk up the beach from the cottage, or have meet up with everyone after a day on the beach at the Sand Bar for drinks and dinner.
If you want to go off Island to explore you can check out Ft. Myers for Edison's Home and Museum and historic downtown Ft. Myers... or, go over to Pine Island to see the famous Tarpon Lodge and go across the street from the lodge to see ancient native Calusa Indian Shell Mounds and the Randall Research Center.
and so much more....
