Summers are mild with temperatures rarely climbing above 90 degrees. Fishing is very good in the spring, summer, and fall. All three lakes at Big Bass Lake are stocked with largemouth bass. There is excellent trout fishing on the Lehigh River. Anglers need a Pennsylvania fishing license to fish either the lakes or the river.
The Pocono Mountains receives an avg of 60 inches of snow every year. In the winter you can ice skate on the big lake and downhill ski and snow tube at the resort's private ski slope with T-bar.
Located in Gouldsboro, Big Bass Lake is near restaurants, shopping, several golf courses, indoor waterparks and the NASCAR Pocono Raceway. Big Bass Lake is also next to Gouldsboro State Park. The 2,800 acre park has trails for hiking, biking, and cross country skiing. Ice fishing is popular during the winter, and anglers can fish for bass, pickerel, yellow perch, catfish, and sunfish. Hunters will find healthy populations of white tailed deer, turkey, snowshoe hare, and black bear, and there is trapping for fur bearing animals including muskrat, mink, beaver, fox, coyote, and raccoon.
Big Bass Lake is near Tobyhanna State Park. Spanning Monroe and Wayne Counties, the 5,440 acre park has primitive camping, hunting, picnicking, and hiking. The 3.3 mile long Yellow Trail runs through the Black Bear and Bender Swamps Natural Area. There are also wetlands and boulder fields which are a visual reminder of the area's glacial past.
I just wanted to send a belated thank you for our weekend stay in your beautiful home. We had a great time and made some new family memories at the pool and Big Bass Lake. We even ran the first BB 5k.
Thanks again, Shauna
We really enjoyed our stay in Gouldsboro. The house's pictures described the house and the surrounding areas superbly (with the small exception that the bunk beds are not in the same room). The house was spacious and we had tons of room to spread out. The woods in the backyard were wonderful to explore. It's a lovely mix of modern and quaint.
We made s'mores in the fire pit, ate breakfast on the porch (the deer were so close, I thought they were curious about our quiche), and hiked nearby. A very nice spot for a weekend getaway.
This lovely home was clean, well maintained, spacious yet cozy at the same time! We enjoyed the beautiful back yard views of nature at its best! Thanks Jennifer and Kristian, for a weekend of wonderful memories made! Hoping to make it an annual mini-vacation! Lucy G. and family
We loved the house. Looks better than the pictures. Definitely want to come back in the summer months!
We spent a week at this property during August. It was fantastic.
The home itself was big enough for our party of 7 to have more than enough space to be together when we wanted to, or to enjoy a bit of solitude at times. The master was great for myself and our little one - dark and quiet. The other rooms were a good size too. It was convenient to have a washer and dryer to use in the "4th bedroom". The eating spaces were large - including in the "Florida Room(?)" where we ate most of our meals. The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking items we required (including a crockpot that made for easy meals). The games loft was a meeting place most evenings - if not outside by the fire pit. The "little extras" like the games/dvds/bikes/toys were an added bonus to our get-away. Finally, the deck outside was huge - we weren't out there often, but it was lovely.
The community itself is large. My only "complaints" would be: 1. We were told upon booking that kids 6 and under do not pay the fee for the community amenities. We DID have to pay for our 6 year old. $40 - no biggie. However, I suggest updating this info for future guests. 2. The indoor pool is ONLY open during the summer if it rains. I suppose this makes sense - however, it should be noted in my opinion. 3. The hours of both the pool and lakes do not begin until 11. I don't know if this is the norm for all communities in the Poconos, but it meant we had no option to swim before my little one's nap in the morning which was disappointing. (We didn't discover the State Park until the last day of our trip - we are Canadians so we aren't familiar with such parks and how they work.) Beyond these 3 points - I would say the community is lovely. It was beautiful - lots of deer to see, and wild turkeys as well. It is very quiet. The clubhouse area is gorgeous - the pools were a hit with my kids. The park at the clubhouse too was great! Larson Lake was my favourite place to visit as it was always empty, warm and just...peaceful!!! (My big kid even took part in the fishing derby.) And...we rented a boat - there was only 1 at the Larson Lake that we were able to take out - no canoes or kayaks - and while it was HILARIOUS in the "tub boat(?)", it was not what we had expected.
Anyhow, overall, it was a pleasant stay. It was very relaxing. I would recommend people stay here.
Thank you for letting us share your home. It is a memory we will not soon forget!
The property was very beautiful! The community was quiet and peaceful and the home was tucked away on a large private lot. The home is spacious, beautifully decorated and stocked with everything needed to enjoy your stay. I honestly feel as though we couldn't have found a better property to suit our needs. The best part was how easy the owners were to deal with. Definitely consider this property for your stay in the Poconos!
