Due to my job as a pilot I rented it out for many years only to make it my home in 2013.

Where do you live?

Perfect host, perfect apartment

My husband and I just returned from 10 wonderful days in St. Maarten. We visited the island 5 years ago on a cruise ship and we have wanted to return, we are so happy we did! Yes, there is still hurricane damage, but the majority of the cleanup is done and the small business owners have worked very hard to reopen around the island. Their spirit is warm and welcoming. The most noticeable work still to be complete is the large hotels and resorts. We rented a car to explore and almost every person we met thanked us for coming to their island.

Martine’s apartment was perfect for the two of us. It’s open and spacious; we enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the balcony every morning. There’s a beautiful view of the ocean and beach, we ate at Buccaneers and The Green House across the street a few times. Wonderful food and the two-for-one drink specials are great. Grocery stores and plenty of places to eat and drink are open and within walking distance if you don’t feel like driving.

Martine is an excellent host, she met us when we arrived and was very courteous and helpful. She was there immediately if we needed her and made us feel right at home. There is a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment, everything you need if you decide to stay in and cook.

If you’re considering a visit to the island, we encourage you to go. The people have suffered devastating losses but they’re picking up the pieces and moving forward. The island needs tourism dollars to help rebuild. With the large resorts still closed we drove to several beaches and had them to ourselves. There are plenty of places open to eat and the staff will spoil you because they are so thankful for you being there. More shops are opening up all the time. We will definitely be back.

Excellent location, we loved it!

Our 5th trip to Sint maarten and first one after the hurricane.

We were impressed with the condition of the apartment and the excellent and friendly host, Martine

The island is still rebuilding but the area where the apartment is located is well ahead of other parts, most restaurants, night entertainment, supermarkets etc are open and well stocked.

The beaches were clean and as beautiful as we remembered.

We will definitely return!

Great unit right in Simpson Bay, walk to almost everything. Owner is always around to help if you need anything. Wake up looking at the beach. We will be back soon.

Fantastic Vacation

I am a timeshare owner in the Simpson Bay area but due to Hurricane Irma, I was not able to use my timeshare. I have been going to St. Maarten for a couple of weeks during Christmas for the last 14 years and was determined to go back this past December, so I rented an apartment in the Simpson Bay area.

Well, I made the BEST DECISION selecting this apartment. I couldn't have asked for a better hostess than Martine Leonie. She was very gracious, helpful, and available to answer any questions. The apartment was wonderful! It was very spacious, clean, comfortable, and consisted of anything you could want or need. The piece de resistance was the view and large balcony. The apartment is right across the road from the beach and I could hear the waves hitting the shore. Sitting on the balcony anytime of the day or night was absolutely lovely. The location was great! There are many bars and restaurants that have reopened within walking distance.

I would like to add that it was very sad to see the devastation on the island both on the French and Dutch sides as a result of Hurricane Irma, but at the same time, it was also inspiring to see the rebuilding of homes and businesses. The locals have positive attitudes and life goes on for them. If you love St. Maarten as much as I do, you shouldn't stay away. The beaches have been cleaned and are beautiful. Places like the Buccaneer Bar, Toppers, Pineapple Petes, IZI, La Isola, La Patrona, Red Piano, Soggy Dollar, Marks Place, Avantika, Little Bamboo, Karakter, Crave, Lee's Roadside Grill, and Sunset Beach Bar to name a few are opened on the Dutch side; restaurants L'Arhawak and Tropicana on the French side along with boutiques in the Marigot area. Most casinos are open. Cruise ships are returning. They are repairing the zip lining on the Loterie Farm but you can enjoy the pool and cabanas and so much more.

To sum it up, I had a great vacation and I will be returning within the next several months to St. Maarten to Martine's lovely apartment!!

Great location, Easy access, Wonderful Host

This was our 9th visit to the beautiful island. We always stay in the Pelican Key area due to the great beach, restaurants, and it's far enough away from the airport to not be bothered by the planes.

Martine was a wonderful host who is quick to respond with any questions we had. We always rent a car for the week and this year we rented Martine's car since she had one on the premises. This made it a quicker process when arriving on the island to take a cab to the apartment verses being shuttled to the car rental facility and then getting to your final destination.

The apartment itself isn't luxurious but is very clean and fully equipped. We chose it because it was just the 2 of us this year and it's across the street from the beach we love and our favorite beach bar, Buccaneer's. We could walk back and forth between the two and didn't have to drive anywhere for day time food and beach time. The apartment was very affordable and we enjoyed our stay.

I would say the negative is that it's not as quiet due to being so close to the road and the night time crowds at Buccaneer's can get loud. It didn't bother us though. Martine had a small fan I used in the bedroom and the ceiling fan and that would drown out the nighttime noise from the bar.

Over all it was a great experience!

Great view, and apartment had everything we needed

We stayed 4 nights here after a Windstar cruise, and it was perfect. The view from the balcony is fantastic. We had breakfast in the morning, and drinks at sunset on the balcony. The apartment is a little old, but it is very clean, and has everything you need in the kitchen. There is a small store about a half block away with the basics, and a full market about two blocks away, so you can stock up on the basics in the kitchen so you don't have to eat out all your meals. There are over a dozen restaurants within easy walking distance everything from high end French, to low end pizza, sushi, and of course fresh seafood. Most of the restaurants are on the beach, or looking over the harbor. We rented a car, and Martine has a parking place for this room, parking is very tight on the island, so this is important. Martine lives upstairs, always has a smile on her face, and is very helpful. My wife is an interior designer and kept talking about how easy it would be to make it look "cuter", but it was comfortable, and that is all I needed. We are planning another cruise next year that ends in St Marteen, and we will definitely stay here.
