Overview

About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom, 7 Sleeps

If you want seclusion, this is your place. Adina Lake is a private 40-acre lake 10 minutes from Hayward. There are a total of 4 other homes on the lake, and only one of those is continually occupied. The road to the cabin is a half mile off the pavement, accessed via a private gravel road. The cabin sits on 3 acres, with an additional 30 private acres adjacent. Perfect for exploring, or late summer berry picking!

While limited on Adina Lake itself, great fishing is nearby. Spring Lake, GrindStone Lake, and Windigo Lake are all within 5 miles of the cabin. For youngsters, the fishing on Adina Lake itself is a treat, with very willing bluegill, perch, bullhead, and crappies found right off the dock. However, they generally don't get very big, so serious fishermen would be best served by going to one of the other, bigger lakes nearby.

Property includes a kitchen/great room with a wrap-around deck offering a great view of the lake. There's a dock for sitting/swimming on. While a small lake, Adina is great for kayaking and canoeing (one of each is on the property and available for use). On the down side, the bottom of the lake is muddy, and not very conducive to wading. Swimming is best done off the dock, or from the canoe. Also, the shoreline is in its unimproved, natural state, so the best access is via the dock.

Wildlife abounds, with deer, grouse, beaver, bear, and the occasional wolf leaving tracks around the area. Loons and waterfowl are common on the lake. The acreage has a wide variety of habitats, including poplar slash, hardwood, open meadows, low bog, and pine forest.

3 Bed 2 BA

Master bedroom with queen bed

Second bedroom with queen bed

Third bedroom with twin bunkbeds and fold out futon

Laundry

This is new construction, and the basement is unfinished. However, there is plenty of floor space there for inflatable mattresses if you need to accommodate additional guests, and there is a queen bed set up there. Also due to the newness, the landscaping is a work in progress. Part of that work in progress is we haven't decided where to build a fire pit. So we have a steel fire ring for evening campfires until we build a permanent stone fire pit.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to inquire.

About Gregg Romens

While natives to Wisconsin, My wife and I have lived in Colorado for 26 years. This cabin is our gateway to an eventual retirement in Wisconsin (at least for part of the year). Until retirement though, we thought we'd share the place with others.

The great escape outside of Hayward WI!

  • 5 of 5

My wife & I chose this place for our 10th anniversary. We were well rewarded for our choice. This cabin is secluded which is what we wanted and it is one of the nicest VRBO places we've stayed in. We've used VRBO.com for at least 10 different places ranging from Rome to Nashville and we've never have been disappointed.

This cabin was clean, modern, comfortable and had a great view of the lake. August 12th was the peak night for the Perseid Meteor shower and due to this cabin's location, the viewing was terrific.

Hiking, fishing, canoeing or sitting on the deck listening to loons in the morning is all available here.

We arrived home from Hayward this afternoon and we miss this place already.

Thank you for making your cabin available!

Newer cabin in a secluded, tranquil setting . . just what I was looking for!

  • 5 of 5

Cabin is newer, in excellent condition, and decorated in a modern rustic theme. Surrounded by woods with views of the lake through the trees, it is a peaceful, relaxing setting. Seems as remote as the north woods of Canada, yet Hayward stores are only about 15 minutes away if you need supplies. It was perfect for a respite from the big city.

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time! The house was beautiful and we enjoyed the fire pit. Hope the swimming area gets cleaned up a little bit, but a great place and wonderful view nonetheless. We would definitely recommend this home.

Great secluded cabin on a private lake!

  • 4 of 5

We had two families stay in this nice cabin for a total of 5 days and it was a great experience. The cabin itself was great. It was roomy and had all the necessary amenities. Internet was advertised but was extremely slow, which isn't the owner's fault, just a bad signal. The vegetation was pretty bad around the house as some of it appeared to be poison ivy. We wanted our kids to be able to run around and play but the weeds/grass prevented that. While we were there, the propane gas grill ran out of propane so it was a good thing that we didn't want to grill out for more than one meal; we had to resort to the campfire, which wasn't too bad, just took a little while.

The private lake was so nice; the best part about this property. You can catch a TON of small fish, but nothing big enough to eat. My friend and I caught about 20 fish in less than an hour. It was a good time. The kayak and canoe were super fun to take out on the lake at sunrise as well.

Hayward is a quick, 15 minute drive and it has everything you'd need for a trip - unique restaurants, frozen yogurt shop, a nice downtown, and a Walmart.

All in all, this was a great experience and we all had a blast.

Owner's Response: Terribly sorry about the overgrowth. I was able to return on July 4 to take care of it, but that didn't help during your stay. However, I wish you had reached out to me with your concerns about poison ivy, as I could have allayed those fears. There are a number of three-leaved plants in the area (wild raspberry, jewel weed, etc), but I've never seen poison ivy anywhere around the cabin or in the surrounding woods. I'm personally very allergic to it, so even if I hadn't seen it, I would have picked up a case by now. Anyhow, if I'd known it was a concern, I would have tried to get someone out before the 4th to trim things back around the cabin.

Lovely house deep in the Wisconsin woods

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week with extended family at this house. It's spacious with a beautiful deck over looking a small, very quiet lake. The house is modern with many amenities making for a comfortable stay. We very much enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to others. The house is 10 - 15 minutes from Hayward, but in a very secluded area.

Felt like our home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin had plenty of room for the 6 adults and one 11 year old child. The use of the kayak and canoe was fantastic! It was the first time for a couple pf people to try out and they loved it. The 11 year old thought the fishing was great off the dock. As he caught the biggest one.

The amenities we good. In fact, we over packed to be prepared and most of it was not needed as the cabin was well equipped.

Town is not far away if you wanted to have a nice meal out or do some shopping.

The whole experience was great and I look forward to doing this again.
