My wife and I, along with 2 other couples, were visiting Clemson from Louisville for the HUGE football game on October 1. Based on the pictures and reviews, this seemed like the best option, and it most definitely was. The house itself is gorgeous. Hardwood floors throughout the first floor, amazing stone fireplace, nice countertops, great furniture, beds are extremely comfortable, plus carpet in the basement, awesome bar, plenty of bathrooms. They supplied enough towels for all of us for the entire weekend without needing to do a load of laundry. The view is spectacular. We spend all day Friday just hanging out on the dock, sitting on the patio playing games, had a fire, and watched some football on TV. The sound system is great with speakers inside and out, we could hear the music from the dock. I don't think we even saw a single neighbor the entire time we were there so it was very private. The drive into Seneca for some larger grocery stores and restaurants, and the drive into Clemson was not bad at all. We were very comfortable the entire trip and had a blast. The game didn't quite supply the outcome we were hoping for, but the environment of our stay and the environment at the game was second to none. We plan to make this trip every 2 years when Louisville visits Clemson and we will plan to stay here again.
This house couldn't be recommended more. Not only is it a beautiful house at the end of a quiet little street, but it has a wonderful dock with plenty of place to swim around. As well as a canoe to take out on the water! The homeowners couldn't have been more helpful or polite and even granted our request of a slightly delayed check out.
If you're looking for a lake house for a relaxing weekend you don't need to look any further. We will be back!
We recently rented this home as a "home base" for our son's move in weekend to Clemson. The house was great and easily accommodated 7 of us (two families). It was about a 40 minutes drive to Clemson. It is very isolated, with no "town" to speak of within miles, so be prepared with groceries etc as you won't be simply "running to the store" if you have forgotten something. :)
The owner was always quick to respond via text. However, we lost wifi connection every morning starting at around 9:30 for an hour to an hour and half. We did not have cell service at the house (T-mobile) and so had no way to communicate during that time frame as there isn't a landline either. This was a problem for us on two occasions when we were trying to communicate our daily plans with our son (and was nearly a disastrous situation on move in day). The owner indicated he was going to look into getting an wired ethernet option. If "staying connected" is important to you, be sure to ask if this issue has been rectified.
The kitchen was stocked adequately, although it would be nice to have such things as a strainer (colander), a BBQ brush and a cutting board.
Paper towels and toilet paper were provided.
The beds were very comfortable, and the set up was great. The house was very clean (with the exception of the exterior windows which are desperately needing to be washed).
We would stay here again when visiting or our son for a Clemson football game, if the internet situation was rectified.
We had a very enjoyable "lazy" week at this wonderful Lake House with a beautiful location on Lake Hartwell.
We took advantage of the HOA amenities with a swim at the pool and we played tennis on freshly resurfaced courts. The area is perfect for early morning or evening walks (just be prepared for some steep inclines!). All the neighbors are very friendly.
The house has enough room for your family to spread out with a great basement (surround system with speakers outside and large flat screen tv), screen-in porch upstairs, spacious deck and, of course, the boat dock down below. Board games and books provided if you didn't bring your own.
At the boat dock we used the provided canoe and two-man kayak and did a little fishing off the dock as well. We used the grassy front yard for a little family bocci ball.
The house is well-appointed with plenty of towels provided and good set-up in the kitchen. While the two very nice bedrooms in the main floor share a small bathroom, we found taking showers in the spacious bathroom in the basement was the best bet.The top floor had three beds and its own full bath, which is perfect for the kids on the trip, or they can be pushed together if you have a couple staying upstairs for the week like we did.
It is just a short drive to two great choices for take-out: The Spotted Pig (bbq -- the ribs are a must!) and Anelo Grill (gourmet burgers!). We also cooked out with the grill provided below (not only plenty of propane but a back-up tank as well!).
Great communication from the owner as we had a minor request (some wasps had set up a nest by the front door and also down at the dock) and within two hours the owner had somebody sent over to take care of the problem. Thank you so much!
FYI ... Clemson is just about 30 minutes away where our son was in a soccer camp during the week. We look forward to renting this home again next year!
Beautiful home, very comfortable, and amazing location on the lake. We are avid skiiers and enjoyed the home's location pretty far up a spur from the main channel, which meant very calm protected water for much of the morning and evening. Great cozy spot for swimming and playing on the water, too. Boat-slip/dock easily accommodated 20' ski boat.
The house was very comfortable for cooking, sleeping, and lounging. Nice thoughtful touches from the owners, who provided so many of the little things - basic toiletries, paper towels, etc. Fully stocked with kitchen tools and supplies, and we cooked plenty. Owners were very attentive to any specific questions we had.
Would absolutely rent again!
