Our luxurious and spacious accommodations feature contemporary furnishings, wood floors, ceiling fans, large bathrooms, large fully equipped and accessible kitchen with granite counters, and DirectTV Entertainment Package in the large living room.
The mid-rise building was built in 1901 as the J. Kennard & Sons Carpet Company Building. Much of the furnishings for the 1904 World's Fair would have passed through this building as John Kennard sat on the Board of Director's for the Fair.
In the 1950s Edison Brothers Shoes Company made this their world headquarters until the mid-1980s when they built a new tower one block West on Washington Avenue. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite is named in honor of the Edison Brother's history in this building (Most native St. Louisans still refer to the building as the Edison Bros. Building).
The building was later gutted and fully rehabilitated in the early 2000's and again in 2012 when it became 78 luxury apartments, including this large vacation rental.
Amenities available are a 24-hour fitness center, indoor heated salt water pool, game lounge, and rooftop terrace with hot tub and river views.
The building has nightly security personnel and secured street-level entry.
Parking for one vehicle is provided through a voucher program at a secured garage just 1/2 block North of our location.
The Edison Room is located inside Gallery 400 Luxury Apartments at 400 Washington Avenue - the intersection of 4th Street and Washington Avenue.
That's 2 blocks from the Gateway Arch grounds (The Jefferson National Expansion Memorial and National Park). 4 Blocks from the Old Courthouse and Mississippi River. 2 blocks from the Edwards Jones Dome (Rams Football) and Americas' Center Convention Center. 6 blocks from Ball Park Village and 8 blocks from Busch Stadium (home of the St. Louis Cardinals, 11 time World Series Champions).
The nearest MetroLink light rail station is 2 blocks West and will take you directly to Busch Stadium (Cardinals Baseball), ScottTrade Center (Blues Hockey), Union Station, Forest Park (home of the St. Louis Zoo and Art Museum), the Delmar Loop, and Lambert International Airport.
My family of seven rented this apartment to stay in while attending a conference we were at. The location was PERFECT and put us at a 5-10 minute walk from the conference center and the hotels where all the meetings were being held. It is also surrounded by plenty of restaurant choices and close to many tourist spots, including the Arch. The bedrooms are very large and spacious as well as the bathrooms. The staff was friendly and very accommodating to any of our needs. We even got a chance to celebrate one of our family member's birthday by grilling on the roof deck and enjoying the hot tub and rooftop facilities. By staying at this apartment, we avoided the hustle and bustle of the hotels and enjoyed quiet and relaxing time with our family. I would definitely stay here again!!
This apartment was perfect for our stay in St. Louis!
We booked with the intention of seeing the fireworks at the arch over the 4th of July, but we found out this was moved in 2016 due to the renovation of the park. The best part about this apartment is that it is a 10-15 minute drive from anywhere we wanted to go. It was easy walking distance to the parade, the old courthouse and the arch. There is a Starbucks and food within a block or two.
The apartment itself was spacious and perfect for 4 adults and one child. We ate breakfast every morning and cooked one dinner at the apartment. There were plenty of plates and cups and silverware for everyone.
It was extremely quiet, which was really nice to have in a downtown setting! The residents are mature and respectful, not the college crowd.
There were only a few issues that we experienced - the hair dryer was broken and it made it challenging for my wife and daughter, who didn't pack a hair dryer.
We visited the indoor pool as my daughter wanted to swim, but the pool is not heated and just a few degrees above freezing - our trip to the pool lasted just 15 minutes.
Internet was free and easy to connect to and very fast. Television service is provided, but there are very few channels that are subscribed to. We had a difficult time finding something for our daughter to watch in the early morning or before bed.
Parking is also a bit of an issue - While there was an excellent parking garage a short distance away, we only received one parking pass per day. Since we met another couple at the apartment, we had 2 vehicles that we needed to park during our stay. There is only 1 voucher provided per day, so don't plan on coming and going at your leisure or it will cost you in parking fees - either metered at the curb or hourly in the parking garage. We could have used an additional voucher or two for our 4 day stay.
Despite some of the small issues, this apartment was an excellent value, safe and well situated. It is super easy to drive to and close to everything. Everyone was very helpful and friendly - I would certainly recommend this location to anyone planning a trip to St. Louis.
The property location was perfect for our stay and where we needed to be. The area the Gallery is located is beautiful and had lots to sight see and explore. The apartment itself was spacious, warm and inviting. It was perfect for a family of 6 to spread out and comfortably get going on a busy morning and relax in after a busy day. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The staff at the Gallery were inviting and courteous and ready to help with anything we needed. The view from the roof was amazing and the tenants and other visitors in the building were friendly and inviting. Very pleasant stay and we will look you up again for any future visits! Thank you !!!!!
