About Dan Michel
I love the outdoors and have been lucky enough to live in some very beautiful places. I hope you and your family find the same joy in the outdoors, in this place!
Dan Michel purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Dan Michel chose Howe
I briefly worked in this area and fell in love with this peaceful location. I purchased this cottage and spent many months renovating the home and cleaning the lake access with a lot of help from friends and family.

Wonderful stay for our family!
This is a quaint and clean home on a beautiful, peaceful lake! We very comfortably fit our five adult family members (and our dog) into the home for a wonderful week of relaxation and fun. Very close to grocery stores, as well as other local favorites (Shipshewana). The ability to rent the owner's pontoon was an added bonus that we greatly enjoyed! Wonderful hosts...very responsive and eager to make our visit enjoyable. We highly recommend it!
Can't wait to return.
Right on a peaceful and crystal clear lake. Loved every minute!!
We've stayed in a lot of vacation homes from Home Away/VRBO over the years, and this was the best by far! The home is completely updated and the kitchen is gorgeous. In my experience houses in this price range are often run down cottages, but this place was really amazing. We had such a great time! Also, it seemed to us that most of the other homes on the lake or by owners not renters because during the week we hardly saw any one, which was really nice (it was very private). We paid a small additional fee to rent the owners pontoon boat, and that was super fun and such a great deal. The kitchen had all sorts of things to cook with ( I don't like to cook on vacation but someone might), and the garage had floats and a kayak to use on the lake (we usually bring our own stuff, but in this case it wasn't necessary). The fire pit by the lake it was wonderful, and every night we relaxed in front of the fire and the lake. We will definitely be coming back, I don't know that there is anything better in this price range!
Great Place To Spend A Week
My family spent the week here during the week of May 19-26. We had a great time! The days started with watching the sun rise over the lake. This was followed by either a kayak or pontoon ride taking off from the dock just feet away from the back door. Although we didn't fish, many people were catching bluegill, bass, and perch. The cottage is 15 minutes from Shipswanna where you can enjoy visiting many Amish stores. The streets are shared by both automobile and Amish buggies. There is also a VERY large flea market which opens Tuesdays and Wednesdays. There are many activities around the cottage as well including an Amish "Safari" where you can pet and feed both farm animals and exotic animals. It was fun for the entire family. The days usually ended with a fire in the awesome fire pit overlooking the lake.We plan on returning several times this Summer.
As Good As It Gets
We were scheduled to rent the home for 10 days. Due to the unexpected death of my father, we were only able to stay in the house for one night and unfortunately had to leave. The home is beautiful, cozy and a perfect vacation retreat.
The owners went far and beyond what was reasonable and from deep in my heart we truly appreciate it. We will be back next year and for many years to come.
Thank you very much!!
Charming with a view
We go to shipshewana every year for a nice relaxing trip. This is the first time we stayed at this property and would definitely rent it again. It is close but far away enough to be relaxing and quiet. The lake, basically the back yard, is beautiful at sunrise and sunset. It was lovely to relax on the deck in the glider while my husband enjoyed catching some fish. They were certainly biting and he caught four in about as many minutes the first day he put in his line. A charming cottage and enjoyable stay. The Owner was easy to deal with and prompt in her responses to any questions.
