Peaceful cottage in beautiful Keswick/Gordonsville horse & wine country. 20 minutes from Charlottesville and historic sites. It is located on a 20 acre horse farm in a private area all it's own. Several wineries nearby. The cottage has one bedroom with a loft area that can accommodate 3 more quests. Full bath & a small efficient kitchen. It is a perfect getaway for a romantic weekend or a family trip to enjoy the activities in the Charlottesville Area. It has pine paneling throughout with a wonderful fireplace making it warm and inviting. Guests can relax and do nothing or enjoy our farm setting and take walks through the countryside.
George and I have lived in the Charlottesville area for over 15 years. We love enjoying farm life here and being close enough to the city to enjoy all Charlottesville has to offer. We are happy to offer our guest cottage for you to enjoy while you visit this area.
Susan Forschler purchased this cottage in 1997
We built the cottage when we first purchased our farm. We loved coming on weekends and whenever we could get away. It was our 'home away from home' until we moved to Charlottesville and built the main house. Now it is our much beloved guest cottage.
The cottage is warm and inviting for relaxing and doing nothing or, if you choose, close enough to several historic sites and so much to explore.
You should know that we do not provide breakfast or any meals, however we do stock the refrigerator with some water and soda and some snacks. Fireplace is now open for the season. Also, there are no horses on the property at this time. Dani, who was born on this farm 3 years ago, is off for training and her companion horse was too lonely by himself.
I was met by Susan at the horse farm. She showed us the cabin and she had left some goodies for us. The cabin has a nice living room and dining area. The master bedroom was great and bed was comfortable. My wife loves the rolling hills outside our door and the horses in the pasture were an added plus.
We went to several small towns in the area and ate at some of the restaurants near Charlottesville. I recommend south street brewery and the Nook down town. My wife wants to go back again.
We really enjoyed staying at the cottage! My kids are already asking to go back. Everything was comfortable and clean, and the location was a perfect base for exploring the history of the area. The weather was crummy for most of our stay but on the sunny day the kids played outside on the tire swing and in the large cottage yard. Our host was terrific, very available and communicative. The kitchen was stocked with some basics, and the grocery is just a few miles away. This is a really wonderful location and cottage! We recommend it highly and would love to visit again!
Owners are very nice, place is perfect, quite, very nicely decorated, clean.. just a super place to stay....not far drive into Charlottesville.
We spent a weekend here while attending graduation at the University of Virginia. The cottage is beautiful, nicely appointed and comfortable with plenty of room. The farm was beautiful and the property owner was kind and attentive, offering good recommendations for local restaurants. I would be happy to return- would be a lovely place to visit in the Fall.
This place was incredible. Me and my girlfriend spent 3 days here for a Valentines vacation. The cottage is super cute and cozy. Susan was awesome and provides all of the essentials (most toiletries, all linens, miscellaneous food stuffs, a stack of wood for the fireplace). I'd recommend this cottage to anyone looking to get away to some peace and quiet. It's also close to Charlottesville and within an hour of a few dozen cideries, breweries, and vineyards.
This is a charming guest cottage and was perfect for a relaxing getaway after Christmas. The loft was ideal for kids and the size was perfect for our family (2 adults, 3 kids). The owner, Susan, was extremely friendly and welcoming. She went out of her way to welcome us and ensure we had everything we needed, to include stocking the cottage with necessities such as K-cups and milk! There were lots of thoughtful touches that we have not seen with other holiday/weekend rentals. We enjoyed visiting the horses, playing in the yard, and taking walks. We highly recommend this cottage to others.
We are located on a VA Scenic Byway. Lovely horse and wine country.
