We invite you to stay in our newly remodeled camp with a huge new screened in room. The 3 bedroom, 2 bath home offers the best of all Adirondack worlds: a great mix of evergreen and hardwoods, ultimate privacy on nine acres of land, 972 feet of waterfront on Lake Clear Outlet giving you access to Lake Clear and Mill Pond.
It is a short drive to The Wild Center and Paul Smith’s interpretive center. It is just a quick 10 miles to Saranac Lake, 5 miles to upper Saranac Lake, and 20 to the Olympic Village of Lake Placid.
Two canoes are provided for you to enjoy the St. Regis Canoe area and the many connecting ponds and lakes. There is outstanding bass and pike fishing on our waterfront, Mill Pond, and Lake Clear, and the High Peaks trails are close by. It’s just a short paddle, motor (20hp max) boat ride, or a beautiful easy hike to an awesome private, sandy beach on NYS land! Enjoy the shops and restaurants in Saranac and Lake Placid or get away from everything at our camp near the end of a private road.
My husband and I live in Illinois and have traveled to the Adirondacks to spend a week with extended family for 36 years. Our children and their cousins have memories of canoe trips, High Peaks hikes, picking raspberries, and songs and skits around the campfire. They continue to come to gather from Texas, Utah, California, and Dubai. They now have their own families and want to continue making memories and strengthening relationships.

This property gives us waterfront to send off canoes and to play. It is on 9 acres, so we can sing and play without disturbing others. It has a comfortable place to sleep and a wonderful huge screened in porch for gathering.
This property is close to canoe routes and High Peaks hiking trails, near the cultural activities and attractions, and a short drive from Saranac Lake and Lake Placid for shopping and restaurants. At the same time you are surrounded by forests and across the water from quiet state land.
It is difficult to know where to start - the property was exactly as the pictures indicated, only maybe a little bit better. The screened in deck was spacious and a great place to get away and relax. We are a family of five and the canoes and kayak allowed us to journey on the lake together, and the numerous life jackets and paddles were modern and fit us perfectly. During the week we only saw three other canoes on the lake, Three. The whole week. I am a fisherman, and actually got tired of catching fish. They were abundant. (*More on that below if interested). Because the lake is actually an outlet of Clear Lake, it was much more calm when the wind was up. The area on the lake and around the home is about exactly what you would picture if you imagined an idyllic Adirondack scene.
The home was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. The towels were great, the beds comfortable and everything in the home was clean and worked well. The water cooler was a really, really nice addition that we used frequently and we appreciated the ability to wash clothes after an adventuresome day. There was a fire pit out back and plenty of wood to go with it. The location was perfect - far enough away to be peaceful but close enough to Saranac, Lake Placid and Keene to be convenient. And Donnelly's Ice Cream is about three miles away. We went there every day, except when we took the easy 2 hour 15 minute drive to Montreal - great!. The owners were great, their instructions were clear and there was a local back-up in case anything went wrong, which it didn't. This camp is highly recommended and we hope to be back soon!
*Fishing - I hadn't fished much up North so was unfamiliar with pike, muskies and pickerel. They are mean and will hit anything. They also have a lot of teeth, so a wire or Tuffline leader is a must if you want to have a chance at keeping your lures. Also, learn how to take them off the hook. You could get cut pretty well if you are not careful. We caught yellow perch, aforementioned mean fish, very nice largemouth, bluegill and one walleye out of the lake. Rooster Tail spinners of various sizes and colors worked well (darker brownish colors seemed to work best and we caught all types of fish on these), as well as silver Kastmasters (best for the mean fish) and spinnerbaits (best for largemouth). I would imagine live bait or worms would work well also. Like I said above, they were abundant and we caught fish every time we went out.
This property is amazing! It was recently remodeled and far exceeded our expectations. Had everything we needed from towels to outdoor seats to spices and pots and pans! Easily accommodated our party of 8 and the screened seasonal porch was incredible as well was the garage. Plenty of space for all and the use of their extra boats was a bonus as we could all be on the water at once, life vests included! Plenty of great fishing spots and found a small beach that we could easily canoe to. Very remote and only 1 neighbor in the vicinity. Excellent fire pit and plenty of wood to go with it. Loved it so much we will be back next year. We normally stay in Saranac but this was way better and still only a few minutes drive into town. Owners were very responsive and responded immediately to any questions. Internet was spotty but we did not miss it as soooo much else to do. Thanks for a wonderful stay and see you next year😊
Our family arrived and immediately fell in love with the location and the house. It was very clean and well cared for and the location was on a private road leading to an outlet from Lake Clear. The canoes were nice & easy to use and they had life jackets for all age groups. The fishing off the dock was great and our kids caught lots of fish easily. The house has a lovely screened in porch that was a favorite for watching stars at night without fighting bugs or watching the morning mist lift off the water. The owners were very thoughtful and provided many of the comforts of home. It is only a 20 minute drive from Saranac Lake & about 35 minutes from Lake Placid with access to shops and other entertainment. It was a lovely, restful getaway. One note- cell service is spotty and wifi is not consistent, but it was actually really nice being forced to disconnect!
This newly remodeled place on the outlet between Mill Pond and Lake Clear gave our family an excellent week's vacation spot. The place is well equipped for people who enjoy cooking as well as paddling on the lakes. The close proximity to the Wild Center as well as to some great cycling east on Route 30 to 186 made it extra enjoyable for the more active members of our family. Those of us that love fishing were well pleased with the opportunities right off the dock as well as a short paddle away. The owners were terrific to work with and made sure there were local people that could answer our questions. This was our first vacation with our infant grandson and they were very accommodating to him. A wonderful experience for us.
