Treasure of a place

  • 5 of 5

We love this place! It's absolutely a jewel. Love the private location on the water. The furnishings and ambiance are nice and cozy. Everything was clean for us. We enjoyed the deck immensely. Perfect set up for our group of four. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Our "hideaway'" does have the best of both worlds. The private location is peaceful, and restorative. We're also so close to the hopping little town of Harrison for a day of bike riding, shops, eateries, and nightlife!

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year staying here and it was amazing. We fished off the front porch, jumped in the water all day and took the canoe out and about on the river. It's a truly magical place.

special out of the way place

  • 5 of 5

If you want to have a unique experience-this is it. The house is right on the water and no other houses around. This place is very private and secluded. We felt very safe here and slept with the windows open and listened to the sound of the water and birds at night. This place has all the modern conveniences, but beware, there is only a few places to eat in Harrison which is 5 minutes drive away. It is important to gas up and shop for groceries in civilization before you arrive and you will be cooking most of your meals here. It's 45 minutes on winding roads to any stores but that's good because you'll want to stay all day on the river. We took the canoe that was provided out on the river every night. The Rails of Trails were paved, flat, and a wonderful walk that went on for 92 miles through the wilderness and along the river.

The beds were good, the pantry stocked with a great variety of spices in the modern kitchen. Just be prepared to wave at all the boats going by on the river if you're sitting out on the deck. Only drawback was T.V. reception was sketchy with antenna only. But there is Wifi and we hooked up our Dish anywhere and we were fine. They do have surround sound so it's great for DVD's. They only have a handful of DVD's there so be sure to bring some if you want to watch movies. Reception for cell phones isn't great either so we turned ours off. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was great to be unplugged. Would do it again in a minute!

Unique home on the water

  • 5 of 5

The home sits right on the water. It is exactly like the pictures. It wasn't hard to find, but you drive thru a dock yard to get there and there is an old trailer nearby, don't let it throw you off. The house is great!! It's clean and furnished with cute antique furniture. There were ample towels and bedding. (There were four of us) We noticed a small leak in the upstairs bathroom when we got there, but it wasn't enough to bother us, so we notified the owners and ignored it. We could see fish in the water right off the porch, and our girls had a blast playing in the water. It was fun sitting on the porch watching boats go by and reading our books and just relaxing. We saw a doe and her fawn one morning. We had a great time riding our bikes on the trails. The small town of Harrison is nearby, we had burgers at the marina and they have a great selection of ice cream at the Creamery. This is a great place to get away from it all. Keith and Sylvia were very nice and easy to work with. We hope we can come back!
