I am originally from Oklahoma; my wife from Ecuador. We met while I was in Ecuador in 1965-66 in the Peace Corps after my college graduation. We married in 1966 and returned to the US and I began medical school. After medical school and post grad training we moved to Poulsbo, WA in 1974 where I established my pediatric practice. I retired in 2014. We have two sons. One lives and works in Seattle with his wife and two sons, the other lives in Silver Spring, Maryland with his wife, daughter and son. They vacation with us at our Mexico home 1-2 times yearly.
We built the main home in 2001and until I retired we vacationed there 4-5 times yearly. We now spend 7 months there; Nov-May. We spend 3 months yearly in Ecuador; mid July-mid Oct. The remainder of the time is spent in the US with our family and friends.
We built the Casita adjacent to the main house in 2010 to accommodate our enlarging family.
My wife and I both speak Spanish so we can be of help to our guests when needed.
We both love to socialize and will do so as our guests desire, recognizing that some may wish to be on their own. The Casita allows total privacy as desired.
We are happy to be local tour guides and make suggestions for actives.
Property Manager/Owner; Bernie and Marietta Brown purchased this bungalow in 2001
A beautiful, comfortable accommodation in a beautiful, convenient location.
Large covered and uncovered patios 100 meters from a beautiful beach that allows watching the ocean, waves and sea life, including whales in season (Nov-March).
We have traveled to the California Baja Sur since 2001 and have stayed at various places in La Paz, Cabo Pulmo, La Ribera, and Cabo San Lucas. This was our first time with a rental on the Pacific side of the Baja.
The Casita At Mision Trinidad is a squeaky clean casita that offers stunning sunsets along with booming ocean waves that crash on the deserted beach directly in front of you. The owners, Bernie and Marietta, are two of the most generous and hospitable people on the planet. They have furnished their guest casita with a huge comfy bed and all of the kitchen utensils you need to cook with. The architecture of their home and the casita is both beautiful and functional with no air conditioning needed due to the constant ocean breezes and large ceiling fan. In addition to the kitchen gas stove, there is a charcoal and a propane grill available for cooking which we made use of quite frequently.
There is a large veranda that overlooks the Pacific which you can lounge on while you turn brown from the Baja sun. The area has plenty of restaurants within a 10-20 minute drive and the fresh fish is delicious. Numerous poblano pepper farms dot the desert land and the towns of El Pescadero and Todas Santos are close by.
We had reliable internet and cell phone service which was needed to keep tabs on our two and four footed animals at home.
If you want to visit the Pacific side of the Baja Sur and have close proximity to local cuisine and a quiet, serene place to lay your head at night, then you should really consider staying here.
My partner and I had a magical 4-night stay at the Casita! The property is stunning, lots of character with such attention to detail - better than in the pictures. We settled in quickly and had the most restful vacation in a long time - from the comfortable bed to the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor dining table (and grill!) to easy access to the beach and views of the ocean and whales! Bernie and Marietta were fantastic hosts, sent over detailed directions, and even had a beach kit for us to use, complete with boogie boards and beach chairs. Each morning we cooked a big breakfast on the sun-drenched patio, then loaded up the beach kit and walked to a swimming beach about a mile north of the Casita. We had the whole beach to ourselves and watched the sunset over the ocean each evening. At the end of the day, we'd walk back along the beach to the Casita and grill a feast outside for dinner under the stars, listening to the waves crash. Truly magical. We can't wait to come back to Mision Trinidad!
Would recommend without hesitation, in particular for a romantic getaway or a family with young kids. Plenty of beach activities for the kids and you won't need to drive down to Cerritos Beach, unless you're planning to surf and even then it's only a 10min drive away!
This is a beautiful property! The weather is sunny and warm with low humidity. The hosts are most accomedating and knowledgeable of the area. The description of the area and property is very accurate. You will love your stay!
I believe I have found Paradise here on the southern Baja! I came here just wanting to "get away from it all," and relax and that is exactly what I found here at Mision Trinidad. While I did enjoy a couple of short trips into Todos Santos and to Pescadero, just being here on the beach in this beautiful casita with wonderful hosts was all I needed and hoped it would be. I look forward to a return visit.
This casita is a hidden gem in the southern Baja! Very clean, well-appointed and private, it has all of the amenities you need to stay for a couple of days or a couple of weeks. Beautiful bathroom, comfy beds, a well-equipped kitchenette and private outdoor spaces really make this a perfect place to get away from it all. Right on the ocean, you can walk for miles in either direction.
This is located about 30 minutes north of Cabo and 25 minutes south of Todos Santos. Fun restaurants, shopping and activities are easily accessible. To get to the casita, fly into the Los Cabos airport, drive south to Cabo and then north along the ocean -- a little more than an hour total.
Owners are retired Americans who speak both English and Spanish. Easy booking process and gracious hospitality.
We wanted to escape all the hassles of the city and be able to hear the ocean waves and enjoy the sand and the sun at a reasonable price. This casita was perfect for me and my husband and our young daughter. A cozy and clean ocean front home just for us away from all the noise and traffic. Todas is a short ride away and offers fantastic restaurants and shopping. I would highly recommend this place. A glass of wine at sunset on the beach was a daily routine..how I miss that.
