We owned a timeshare on Hawaii for over 20 years and we purchased this condo in Waikoloa based on years of experience. Close to the finest beaches in Hawaii. Minutes from the best scuba diving in all the Hawaiian Islands. I am a diver and have spent time diving all the other islands. Kona has the best diving compared to the other islands.

We love Waikoloa Village because of the small town atmosphere and trade winds. All the tourists bake in the heat down on the beaches, which you can do if that is what you are after on your visit to Hawaii. Rule of thumb on Hawaii is the longer you live on the island the farther up the mountain you live to get the perfect temperature.

Hawaii has everything any of the other islands have only better and larger.

Farmers markets. (Large tropical bouquets for $10.) Fresh fruits and vegetables in abundance in Kona and Hilo markets.

No other island has the active Volcano, which is a must do item.

Our condo is fully furnished. Save the cost of eating out so you can do some of the fun outings on the island. Things you never think of to make your vacation the best ever. Cooler, beach chairs, boogie boards, and swim noodles are things you will pay extra for at a hotel.

We will also provide you with detailed local knowledge so your stay will be memorable. What beaches are worth the drive, where to see turtles every time, should you go to the green sand beach, where to buy gas are just some of the items that will save you time and money.

Why The Owner chose Kohala Coast

We chose Waikoloa because it is near everything and just far enough away from all the tourist hustle and bustle.

It is also up the mountain a little so the weather is perfect.

What makes this condo unique

We love the pool area where we can play a little cribbage in the afternoon, enjoy a gin and tonic, and flop in the water every once and awhile.

Needs updating.

One of the cheaper places to stay on the Big Island. It is a great location if you are a golfer or you use the North end beaches. It is a long, slow drive to Kona in bumper to bumper traffic. The condo needs updating. The bathrooms have new tile but the kitchen is older with No food storage what so ever. We found several major problems when we arrived. The towels were so dirty we ended up having to buy our own, the dishwasher and microwave were broken, John did get them fixed but it took 10 days. The deck and stairs needs painting and a heavy cleaning. There is no air conditioning which caused some uncomfortable days and nights. The windows need to be replaced as the "trade winds" whistled through them on any windy night. One of the windows we were unable to open what so ever, If we opened the windows the very noisy neighbors kept us awake on most of the 2 month long stay. With the windows shut you could still hear the fighting and children screaming. The pool is very cold and had just be freshly painted, but we found most days it was very dirty with leaves and such. The hot tub jets were very weak. All in all, we enjoyed staying in Waikoloa but probably would not return here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying in our unit. Feedback is always welcome. I try to make each guest have a great vacation. Sorry to hear yours was not as good as you expected. Traffic is slow to Kona after 3pm because of workers and tourists returning to town. It is only a one lane road and more and more people are finding out how great the Big Island is to visit and live on. The unit does have food storage cabinets but probably not enough for your two month stay. The microwave is a built in and needed to be replaced so it took a few days. The deck and stairs are outside and managed by the condo association. They should be cleaned every couple of months along with pest control. Quiet time is between 10pm and 8am. There is an onsite manager who should have been informed of the noise situation. My cleaning team has the ability to replace towels etc whenever needed. I don't know what happened in your situation. They said the towels were good to use. I live off the island so I have to trust other people to do the job. The people I use to clean and do maintenance are great and respond as quickly as they can. I don't know about the pool situation, I will contact management to see if anything has changed. I have never found the pool to be dirty or cold but I was not there when you were. The handy man was in your unit at least two times and would have fixed the window if you had let him know about the situation. I have already contacted him about the problem. John

A real home away from home.

Beautiful place to stay. No AC needed here as the daily breezes keep you comfortable day and night. Everything you need in a home away from home is supplied. Thank you for letting us enjoy Hawaii and "come home" to such a great place. Mahalo!!!

Clean, cheap and convenient

This is my second stay at this condo and will be returning again in the spring. The unit is fully furnished with everything I needed. Laundry machine is great so I didn't need to pack as much for the trip.
