Overview

Kohala Coast Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

We owned a timeshare on Hawaii for over 20 years and we purchased this condo in Waikoloa based on years of experience. Close to the finest beaches in Hawaii. Minutes from the best scuba diving in all the Hawaiian Islands. I am a diver and have spent time diving all the other islands. Kona has the best diving compared to the other islands.

We love Waikoloa Village because of the small town atmosphere and trade winds. All the tourists bake in the heat down on the beaches, which you can do if that is what you are after on your visit to Hawaii. Rule of thumb on Hawaii is the longer you live on the island the farther up the mountain you live to get the perfect temperature.

Hawaii has everything any of the other islands have only better and larger.

Farmers markets. (Large tropical bouquets for $10.) Fresh fruits and vegetables in abundance in Kona and Hilo markets.

No other island has the active Volcano, which is a must do item.

Our condo is fully furnished. Save the cost of eating out so you can do some of the fun outings on the island. Things you never think of to make your vacation the best ever. Cooler, beach chairs, boogie boards, and swim noodles are things you will pay extra for at a hotel.

We will also provide you with detailed local knowledge so your stay will be memorable. What beaches are worth the drive, where to see turtles every time, should you go to the green sand beach, where to buy gas are just some of the items that will save you time and money.

Why The Owner chose Kohala Coast

We chose Waikoloa because it is near everything and just far enough away from all the tourist hustle and bustle.

It is also up the mountain a little so the weather is perfect.

What makes this condo unique

We love the pool area where we can play a little cribbage in the afternoon, enjoy a gin and tonic, and flop in the water every once and awhile.

Property met our expectations. Well kept. Lots of room for the price and owner is very easy to work with. This is our second stay at this property.

Great!

  • 3 of 5

The rental unit was close to everything. We truly enjoyed our stay. The only request would be that the unit had A/C.

Thank you again!

So much better than a hotel room

  • 5 of 5

All descriptions and guest reviews were accurate. Kitchen well-equipped, in-unit washer/dryer, snorkeling sets and boogie boards, several coolers to chose from, even hats. Regular towels of course but beach towels also provided. As noted there's no AC and the first night was especially warm, but it cooled down during the night. Either the weather actually cooled down, or we got used to it, or we were tired out from our activities, or all of the above. You have a dedicated spot to park very close to the unit(2F). We took surf and paddleboard lessons with HYPR , went to Hilo(if you like cookies go to Big Island Candies) and the Volcanic NP, went to multiple beaches, saw turtles and waterfalls, and the Mauna Kea Observatory was amazing. We saw the Hubble and Intl Space Station go by. As warned, it was freezing. I researched and agonized whether we should do a tour at approx. $200/p, but glad we tried on our own. IMHO I think you can make it if you 1) have a decent car with decent brakes, and know how to downshift to control descending a long-ways down, 2) have sneakers/warm clothes and layer everything(be creative, like socks work as gloves), windbreaker super helpful as it will be windy, we wished we had ear flap caps, 3) just go to the Welcome center and don't go to the the top(guide at the center explained that you will see less because your eyes will not get enough oxygen-- good enough explanation for me!) The Original Big Island Shaved Ice is worth the drive. Going back to the unit, if your main objective is to explore and enjoy the island, this was the perfect base, location-wise, amenity-wise, size-wise. It does not come with a spectacular view, so if that's a deal breaker, then this is not it. For all others, I recommend this place. Lastly, John is an attentive owner who responds immediately. thank you John!

Wonderful 12 days on the Big Island

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at John's condo for 12 days during our recent trip to the Big Island. The Waikoloa Village location was great and allowed us to conduct our many excursions from a very convenient location. We felt at home by the second day and found that just about everything we needed was already there. The kitchen was equipped with all the cooking utensils that we needed. We were pleasantly surprised with all of the beach toys that were made available. Everything was thoughtfully explained and John does a great job of communicating. He even has his purple book that is a better guide to the Island's activities than than most commercial travel guides. We slept well, ate well, and relaxed well. Can't do much better than that! Highly recommended.

Wonderful location with great amenities.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for five days while visiting the local sites. The condo was very clean and had multiple items that make your stay so much easier. Our favorite was the book of recommendations and information on various sites and tours around the island. After 5 great days of day long trips we found this incredibly helpful. Also the neighbors in the complex were very kind and the local market was a great place to shop. The condo location was centrally located to explore the island. We would definitely stay here again. It was comfortable and cozy for a great taste of actual living on the big island.

Great value for clean and comfortable stay. Has everything you need.

  • 5 of 5

Unit is well equipped. I had new sheets and bed cover to enjoy in master bedroom. Cool trade winds made sleeping comfortable. Enjoyed coffee on lanai and view of golf course with wild turkeys and geese. My phone connected to their wi-fi (password protected) w/o any trouble. Boogie boards and other beach stuff available to borrow. I would return with friends.
