Total surface about 180 m² (=2000n sqft), 4 sleeping rooms, 2 living rooms, 1 Loggia, 1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms, 5 chimes, 2 caves and 1 seven hundred years old baking oven (still working) for making the traditional Piedmontese bread and pizza and other delicious dishes, small fruit garden with parking, a perfect place for enjoying the extraordinary quietness and peace on top of the Maranzana hill and the relaxed way of living of village people in the Monferat region. Perfect for metropolitan people to find back to the roots of human being and perfect for ecological and profound tourism.
61 years, German, business man, investing my money in projects for giving incentives to forgotten places and villages with rich historical, natural and human resources. The old baking house is the first step of many following steps to save wonderful historical buildings in the forgotten Maranzana village and to develop a smooth and positive tourism which helps the village and the surrounding villages to give more options for young families to stay and live there. I am convinced that tourists will carry back home very precious impressions and experiences due to the direct contact with local people who are highly motivated to share with you some moments of life in this peaceful place.
Christoph Hein purchased this house in 2014
Once you enter into the big living room through the 700 years old entrance door, which is still working like in the beginning of the 14th century, you will understand why I bought this house. Mr. Mario Bartolomeo Ottazo renovated with his own hands and the help of neighbors and friends during 7 years piece by piece a ruin of a building. He found the old baking oven hidden behind a wall and was astonished that it was still in a perfect condition and can still be used. If you discover the house the first time you will be fascinated about so many details like old doors, hinges, furniture, tools, windows, bars. Anyhow the house is technically up-to-date equipped - central heating, electrical and communication equipment for sure, the old and new materials are perfectly combined and you will feel very safe and well from the first moment on.
Groups of up to 9 people can live in this house without beeing too close together, for sure 4 couples. 3 living rooms and one beautiful loggia allow you to spread into small groups in case you want to retreat from the big group. The kitchen allows you and also local people like Stefania to prepare with you local dishes just bought together in the morning from the local market in Acqui Therme or Asti, which will be an unforgettable experience for you. In the big livingroom the sister of the powerful mayor Marilena is ready to teach you the world unique Italian gesture talking - a perfect medicine to blow away any type of depression and pessimism and the local members of the Maranzana glee club will teach and sing with you traditional Italian songs. Franko is one of the people who have licence to search for the very precious white truffles. You can book him and his dog to accompany him between the season of September - December. Mario is focussed on looking for wild herbs and spices and he will take you at the hand and show you many herbs and spices and how to prepare and conserve them. You see, once you look behind the curtain you will see another world. Try - you will not regret
We enjoyed 6 days in this beautiful, completely renovated house. A wonderfull cosy place to be. It’s very clean, spacious and well equiped with all details you can imagine.
Maranzana is a lovely and picturesque village. You have to buy the local wine in the Cantina Maranzana. We will definitely return even though we rarely go to the same place twice.
A lovely and charming house with an incredibly view! We used the chimneys every evening :)The rooms were exactly as shown on the pictures... Thanks a lot also to Barbara for the warm welcome! You must try the local wine!
