Beautiful 1 bedroom 1 bathroom private apartment. Private entrance on side. Brand new remodeled bathroom. 2 minutes walk to subway (Muni L) and close to golden gate park. Conveniently located between Beach (15min) and Downtown (15min). The house is one of the safest neighborhood in San Francisco.
Private entrance on side and access to garden.
The bedroom has low ceiling (about 6 feet).
The apartment only has a small kitchenette for light cooking (microwave). If you absolutely want to cook, it is possible to arrange something where you can come upstairs and use our full kitchen. There are lot's of restaurant around walking distance (less than 5min walk away). You can also walk to the grocery (Safeway) less than 10 minutes away.
Next to stern grove (and the Stern Grove festival).
Access to laundry if needed.
Welcome to San Francisco. I moved here 8 years ago and I love this city. I am originally from Canada, but I lived in Brazil, Japan, UK, France and Hong Kong. I work in the technology industry.
I love the feel of the neighborhood which is very family oriented and very safe. It's half way from downtown and beach. It's on a hill with a nice to toward the Pacific Ocean. It's the best of both world (busy downtown and surf culture next to the beach). I hope you'll enjoy it!
Beautiful sunsets. Very close to Stern Grove Park (2 minutes walk) (every sunday during summer has live shows/bands). Easy access to Subway, so you can explore San Francisco by walking and using the public transit (and avoid paying astronomical prices for parking).
The property was clean and the listing description was accurate regarding layout, location, and amenities. Initially, I was concerned about the bedroom ceiling being 6 feet high becsuse my girlfriend is also 6ft tall but it honestly wasn't a big deal. We spent the majority of the time exploring the city and essentially only went inside the bedroom to sleep at night. In addition, host Yann was extremely personable and friendly and made us feel welcome from the beggining of our SF stay! He even engaged us in conversation and told us about cool places to check out in SF! He was awesome and I would stay here again in the future. Not to mention the location is great, quiet/clean/safe neighborhood that is conveniently located near the MUNI system and a great pizza place (Senoire's Pizza) two blocks up the street.
Yann, the owner, was exceptionally accommodating! He was organized and great at communicating and he quickly responded to any and all questions I had. As for the rental property, I was very satisfied. As a solo traveller, It definitely met my needs. It was clean, quiet, and I had privacy. I felt safe as well. I would definitely stay there again when visiting San Francisco!
I don’t like to post bad reviews, but given the way my reservation was handled, I feel the need to tell my experience, so future tenants are more prepared than I was. I booked this place back in February 5 for my first trip to San Francisco in May 21-24. The reservation was pretty quick and Yann was very responsive and everything seemed fine, so I went on with my life. I didn’t hear from him during those months, so I assume everything was ok. Then on Monday May 16, a few days before my trip, I sent him a message asking for the exact address to his place since I didn’t see it listed anywhere on website. Minutes later, he responds saying that my reservation was cancelled due to some “urgent repairs” that had to be done. I immediately asked him when exactly these urgent repairs happened, or at least a further explanation into the reason for cancelling. But I have yet to hear from him. To make things even more dubious, I checked back to see if his place was really “not available” during the dates I needed, and to my surprise, they are listed as available. So, all this mess made me wonder whether he totally forgot about my booking and he just remembered to cancel it after I sent that message. This is a total lack of consideration. Since he didn’t provide any more information, I can’t tell when these “urgent repairs” happened (the day before, a week, 5 min before I messaged him?). So with only a few days before my trip, I was left to scavenge for another descent place to stay. I ended up finding one through another website, and of course, I had to pay more than I anticipated. The money I paid for this reservation is being refunded (he said 3-5 business days, so I’m waiting to see it back on my card). So, if you end up booking his place, I recommend contacting him often to make sure everything is good. You don’t want to end up without a place to stay the day before your trip, or worse, the same day you get there. Good luck!
Yann was a good host. Accommodating, provided quick responses to my emails and pleasant when we met. Signs posted were clear about how to gain access to the unit, quiet time after 10 and to take care with neighbor's space and belongings. The unit is basic. Necessities provided as shown in the photos. Washer/dryer in the garage were convenient. There's a Backyard but not very inviting as can be seen from the photos. No glassware, you get styrofoam cups. No plates which makes sense as there is no kitchen and you can't really wash dishes. I rented Yann's unit due to proximity to SFSU and the guaranteed parking. That being said, this was my first Homeaway experience and I'm not certain I will be doing it again. Nothing against Yann as a host. As noted above, he was a good host. Perhaps my expectations were too high. In reading a lot of Homeaway reviews in general I thought this experience would work for me. I've always stayed in hotels and timeshares and Homeaway, clearly, is not the same thing. I got the feeling of being more of a roommate. The unit is small. Way too small for 4 of us. The ceiling is really low and the unit is dim. There's limited natural light giving it the feeling of a converted basement without being completely underground. It has to be sparsely furnished due to its size and lacks decor. The unit just didn't feel very inviting to me personally. Not enough room for the 4 of us to hang out, relax and watch TV together after a day of sightseeing. Luckily my niece's apartment provided what this unit lacked and we were at her place every morning and most evenings. Would I recommend Yann's place? If you need a place to crash, shower, get ready to head out, yes, for max 2 people. The guaranteed parking was great. I had no problems with parking at all or the neighbor as on a prior review. Driveway is a little narrow but that's normal for SF from what I saw. Next time I'll sacrifice proximity to SFSU if I feel like giving this home renting business another go.
yann is a nice guy and the room is ok (low ceilings and no plates cups etc.), but the sheets and blanket are incredibly soft and there's enough drawer and closet space for a good amount of clothing
BUT - his neighbor on the (left/south) side is a sick man who enjoys making people's lives miserable - he parks his car in such a way that there is no way to get out of yann's driveway without driving over his cinder blocks - i'm now looking at over $1,000 to replace a bumper and other parts - this guy had the nerve to tell me that he had a camera that took pictures of everything i did in backing out (including getting out of my car in the pouring rain to try to replace his block, which he had apparently positioned in the best place to do damage) and that he had a foyer full of people's car parts (in other words, he gets off on making yann's tenants as miserable as possible)
i checked out early (forgoing the rent)
do not stay here if you have a car (street parking requires a residential parking permit for anything over 2 hours)!
Our host was very good to work with, available and easy to get in touch with. The setting is a narrow basement, comfy bed, nice bathroom but really just for sleeping.
