THE PROPERTY

Everything you need to feel right at home is here, including a fully equipped kitchen, wireless internet access, and in-unit laundry machines for your convenience.

You’ll love spending your downtime outside on the wraparound deck, where you can barbeque on the gas grill and admire breathtaking views of the San Juan mountain range, as well as hundreds of acres of open space full of Juniper and Pinon trees. On snowy nights, curl up by the wood burning stove while you watch movies on the TV, equipped with cable and a DVD player. You’ll find the master bedroom on the main floor, while the upstairs level contains a loft bedroom with sleeping accommodations for 4 guests.

THE LOCATION

From this wonderful cabin, you’ll have access to a plethora of outdoor activities practically right at your fingertips! The property backs up to Zone 62, which is known for its prime hunting opportunities. In addition, the vast land behind the property provides great ATV, hiking, and mountain biking trails.

The fishermen in your group will be delighted by the cabin’s proximity to gold medal fishing spots throughout the western slope, including the Gunnison River, located approximately 45-60 minutes away, as well as the Uncompahgre River in Pa-Co-Chu-Puk State Park and the Ridgway Reservoir, which are both 20 minutes away. If you’re visiting in the wintertime, you’ll be able to reach unparalleled skiing at Telluride Ski Resort in a short 1-hour drive.

If you’re feeling extra adventurous, travel south of Ouray along the million dollar highway to access the mining towns of Silverton or Durango, which are within 1.5-2 hours of the cabin. For a more relaxing day, soak in mineral pools and indulge in spa treatments at the Wiesbaden Hot Springs.

Be sure to enjoy the area’s fantastic restaurants throughout your stay - a few local favorites include The Horsefly and Rib City in Montrose, Kate’s Place in Ridgway, The Outlaw in Ouray, and Thee Pitts Again in Silverton. The possibilities for adventure are endless here, but they all begin when you book this cozy Montrose vacation rental cabin!

Truly isolated.

  • 3 of 5

You need to know that this property is in the middle of nowhere! Long drive on a narrow gravel road steep enough to require 4 wheel drive in the winter. We were hesitant to attempt driving the road at night. Furniture was old and not in that great of shape. House is for sale.

Gorgeous decks with beautiful views but only available chairs are some camping chairs. Property management company involved so extra fees involved. You can do better.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to let us know about your experience. The property is appropriately described as secluded, as that is a big draw for guests who want to escape during their vacation while still having the convenience of only being 15 minutes away from the center of Montrose. We appreciate the feedback and have shared your comments with the homeowner so they can make whatever changes they believe necessary to ensure future guests have an excellent experience at this home. House is in need of attention. It's a lot like camping

  • 2 of 5

Upstairs shower control has been broken for some time. As noted in guest book. This house is not in an appropriate altitude to not have a/c. Most windows do not even open! May be great for fall, winter or spring, but do not book for summer.

Great secluded home

This was a really great home with a lot of room and on 10 acres. Close to the Black Canyon which is what we were wanting. It had everything we needed.

Amazing Mountain Views & Great Communication!

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed in many vacation rentals over the years. I have to say this is one of the best rentals that I've ever stayed in across the US. Upon driving up the driveway, you are calmed by the San Juan Mountains capped with Snow. Stepping out the car, we smelled sage and the fresh crisp air. Just breathe it in. The cabin is gorgeous with polished wood and cool memorabilia. My Husband and I loved all of the Stars Wars posters. We went to Ridgeway to eat at Kate's Place. Get their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with blueberries! We went to Ouray and saw the Switzerland of the US. Very Cute! We also went to see the Black Canyon Falls. These were all within about 20 minutes to the Cabin. If you ever have any questions the owner is quick to get back to you with a friendly answer. We can't wait to come back again!

Great Property But Not Well Equipped

  • 4 of 5

This is a great place for getting away, peaceful mornings and family gatherings. The main room/kitchen is perfect for hanging out in front of the fire and watching the views through the windows. The only drawback is that it's not well equipped for cooking or serving. Very limited cookware and types of dishes. We had family dinners and Thanksgiving at the house and it was very difficult without basics like aluminum foil, baking sheets or sugar. It's a great feature to have washer and dryer available to do laundry but no laundry or softener makes it difficult.

We ended up heading to the grocery store 3-4 times during our stay to stock up on the basics.

I recommend the property but just be prepared with your own supplies or to make a trip to the store to pick some up.
