If you’re feeling extra adventurous, travel south of Ouray along the million dollar highway to access the mining towns of Silverton or Durango, which are within 1.5-2 hours of the cabin. For a more relaxing day, soak in mineral pools and indulge in spa treatments at the Wiesbaden Hot Springs. Be sure to enjoy the area’s fantastic restaurants throughout your stay - a few local favorites include The Horsefly and Rib City in Montrose, Kate’s Place in Ridgway, The Outlaw in Ouray, and Thee Pitts Again in Silverton. This is a great place for getting away, peaceful mornings and family gatherings. The main room/kitchen is perfect for hanging out in front of the fire and watching the views through the windows. The only drawback is that it's not well equipped for cooking or serving. Very limited cookware and types of dishes. We had family dinners and Thanksgiving at the house and it was very difficult without basics like aluminum foil, baking sheets or sugar. It's a great feature to have washer and dryer available to do laundry but no laundry or softener makes it difficult.
We ended up heading to the grocery store 3-4 times during our stay to stock up on the basics.
I recommend the property but just be prepared with your own supplies or to make a trip to the store to pick some up.
My family had a great time here and really liked the house. It's off the grid, with no neighbors in sight, but you have internet and cell service. It is also convenient to Montrose for supplies and the beautiful drives and hikes in the Uncompaghre Wilderness. I highly recommend this house for your stay in wilder Colorado.
Had a wonderful time getting away from the city, relaxing, and enjoying the beauty of the surrounding area.
A nice place, we enjoyed our stay. The owner communicated quickly on a question we raised, and was very concerned for our comfort and satisfaction. Warm during the heat of the day (no A/C), but really not unbearable. The dry climate and afternoon breezes cooled the cabin down by early evening. Plenty of room for the 4 of us and a nice, quiet location, no disturbances from cars or other tenants as this property sits in a somewhat isolated locale. All in all, I'd recommend this property
Large livingroom and bedrooms. Splendid deck, but pity no deckchairs to enjoy it. More towels would be wonderful. More cleaning would help. Surrounding is wonderful and very quiet with beautiful views.
We enjoyed our stay here. The property was very clean and well maintained. My son and his wife live in nearby Montrose. While there we visited Telluride and Ouray. Very centrally located. The dogs had plenty of room to roam on the property. The beds were very comfortable. Being from Houston, we weren't fully prepared for the heat we encountered and the lack of air conditioning (think temperature reached 99!!!). Fortunately we were not there during the day and it cooled off in the evenings. We had a small issue, and the manager responded right away and helped us resolve it. I would absolutely recommend this property (well maybe not in the heat of summer).
