After a long days drive it was a pleasant surprise to walk into Pelican Cove. The house is beautifully decorated, smelled great and has amazing views. Pelican cove is conveniently located to all the places we needed to go. The added amenities were a special treat and had the weather been better we would have used more of them. We will be back in the future and will stay here again. The owners were very nice and helpful. I highly recommend Pelican Cove.
We enjoyed our stay here over the New Year's holiday, despite the rain. We weren't really able to take advantage of all the "outdoor" equipment the house offers, due to the weather, but we had a relaxing stay anyway. The house had everything 3 adults needed. I appreciated the cleanliness of the home, as well as the hospitality of our hosts. The wine is an awesome touch. Due to all the rain, there was a leak in the master bathroom, so we called our hosts just so they would know what was going on with the property. We got to meet them when they came out and they are just great! The leak didn't affect our stay in any way; we just wanted to alert them so they could take care of their property. The one downside to this house is that it sits directly on a busy main road, so it is hard to enjoy the beautiful scenery as much as you could if it weren't. I would recommend it.
Pelican Cove is the perfect setting for a vacation getaway! Slidell offers a laid back atmosphere with all of the amenities one could need. Just an easy 25 minute drive from the French Quarter, you can also enjoy a million dollar view in a quiet and peaceful setting. Mr. and Mrs. Olivier were very generous hosts -- the wine was waiting for us, and the house was stocked and ready. We cannot speak highly enough of this beautiful place! We can't wait to visit again...soon!

Our family visited Slidell, LA for a week to meet our new granddaughter, and our daughter's in-laws. Our plans changed last minute, and the very kind owners shifted our reservation by one day for us, leaving the lights on in the house to make it easy to spot for our middle-of-the-night arrival. The home was gorgeous - immaculate and well furnished -- attractively decorated for entertaining, yet simple enough that not a thing was broken by our two and five year old grandchildren (and visiting cousins)! The two bedrooms were spacious and had killer views of the water - master bath was awesome! The living area was large and open - we had 17 people for lunch with no problem at all. Below the house was a dock area (including shop with fishing poles and crabbing supplies), with hammock, tables, bbq, etc - perfect place to hang out while the kids fished. It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect, but air conditioning and heating worked perfectly. We appreciated the laundry room, ceiling fans in each room and plenty of hot water for showers.
Only head's ups would be that you have to go up stairs in order to enter the residence - not a problem for us (except for lugging suitcases up on arrival), but totally worth it for the view upstairs and the entertaining dock area below. Also, watch your kids around the water (of course) - but the area around the upstairs residence is wood fence enclosed, and our kids could run around& enjoy the view without too much adult supervision. We would definitely come again!
I just wanted to write and say thank you for a great vacation. The house was perfect and had EVERTHING we needed. It was in a perfect location; private but 10 mins from great restaurants!!!! We were completely comfortable, enjoyed the fishing and crabbing, and ate seafood till we were about to bust. We will see you again soon!!!!!
The house was very nicely decorated and comfortable. My only reason for not giving it five stars - the traffic noise was a downfall for any outdoor activities. The house owners left us a bottle of wine and were very courteous in informing us of early check in. We really liked the back deck and the view is amazing! We didn't end up cooking at the house but found there were plenty of supplies if we had. The location, other than the traffic, was wonderful for us. We were able to enjoy New Orleans without having to endure staying too close to the traffic. There were several close restaurants that were very good. The beds and linen were very nice and comfortable. A big plus was it being dog friendly!
