Exceeded Expectations

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Quaint, private, clean, convienent, comfortable... decent wifi, decent tv, clean bathroom with strong shower and decent hot water. Just go to town for groceries like any rental house, bbq on deck with a view of the lake. Thank you, we will hopefully be back next year.

Nice waterfront vacation rental.

  • 4 of 5

Nice waterfront vacation rental. I felt it was a good value. We always look for a property where we will be able to relax; it's close enough to lake George to partake in all that lake George has to offer; but on a small, quiet lake. Property was clean and well kept, well supplied with everything guests would need for food prep, bedding and bath towels. My only issue was the smell and taste of the tap water. If the house water was filtered, I would give 5 stars. We didn't try to drink it, but quickly found that bottled water was required when rinsing after brushing our teeth. Security deposit was refunded quickly.

Relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

Great long weekend stay with another couple. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this little lake. Plenty of room for games, a fire, and grilling.

Well stocked kitchen, but don't forget the condiments!

Everything was very clean. As previous reviewers mentioned, the water did have an odor to it, but you got used to it. Recommend bringing water jugs.

So much potential but falls short

  • 1 of 5

The property looks nice from the outside and is right on the lake with a boat dock. Unfortunately, that was the best of our experience. The house smelled really musty when we walked in. It was not clean, my wife wiped the kitchen counters down and the paper towel was black. Things were dusty and there were cob webs all over the house. The deck was dirty and I needed to be hosed down. Even the utensiles and house wares had a film on them and needed to be cleaned. The screens to the sliding doors all had gaping holes in them and the screen to the window near the sink had holes, this allowed the bugs free reign into the house. The towels that were left for us had bleach stains. The couch in the living room has seen better days and needs to be replaced.

When settling in for the night, needing to turn lights on, we realized everything had been left unplugged, and we had to feel our way to the ends of the lamp cords (which were dusty and filthy) in order to plug them into the wall to have light. The overall experience of staying in the house was not rustic chic, it was bug ridden, dirty and definitely not the 4.5 start experience we expected to have.

We realize we were staying in the woods but the screened windows and doors had gaping holes, large tears along the edges and dead bugs hanging on them both inside and outside was less than desirable. We had to physically spray bug spray on the screens around the holes and tears (windows and doors) every day to try and minimize the bugs entry into the house.

This certainly was not a 4.5 star experience like the reviews lead us to believe. We have rented other homes in the area and have gotten more for the same price. Central air, washer and dryer, and dish washer.

Good location on a lake but falls very short of the rating. I am an extensive traveler and have stayed in hotels and home rentals around the world.

Three Day Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Came up to the house for a 3 day weekend getaway. The house was very cozy, kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils etc. Also took the canoe out which was fun. Would recommend the house, great for families or small groups!
